After watching your videos and asking you for advice, I replaced a 342 keyed rivet. Doing this makes the rifle feel tight and new again. It's a shame people basterdise a rifle for what could be an easy fix. P.S please can you ask Tim Macmurray when you next speak to him to start shipping to the UK again or find a distributor here so we can buy his quality items.
Unrelated, but what would you recommend doing to fix the pump handle dropping on a Benjamin 312? Whenever it’s held like normally but you don’t hold the pump handle/grip, it drops a couple inches
Well, you will probably need to replace the link spring, which is inside the pump lever underneath the rivet. Take a look here; th-cam.com/video/f07hnkkfSCU/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared You may have to drive out the old link spring before putting in a new one. One of these guys should have a replacement link spring; northwestairguns.com/where-can-i-get-my-vintage-airgun-repaired/ And this might help, the Sheridan pump lever is similar to the Benjamin; th-cam.com/video/aWOhm4RyvFs/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared Some people adjust the length of the pump rod so it bottoms out just as you close the pump lever. The pressure on the pump cup keeps the lever from drooping. Ok, make sure to let us know how it goes.
Thank you, I’ll give this a shot! I recently inherited it, but I’ve got no experience with air guns. It seems to be in not great condition, but I can’t actually tell if it fires or not. After cocking the bolt and releasing the safety; it sounds like it’s firing, and I think I hear air. But pumping it doesn’t seem to do anything, it makes that sound with being pumped or without. The pumping also doesn’t seem to get harder tje more you do it, I’m thinking something is wrong with the compression mechanism. Do you know if the pump handle/grip drop could be related to this? Sorry for all the questions, I just have 0 idea what I’m doing here haha.
Also I think I might be way in over my head here, since I’ve never touched a thing like this since a day ago. Since it seems to be in not great condition I don’t know if it would be easier for me to just send it to someone to repair. This thing has been sitting on the floor of a study for at least 3 decades, if not more
Try this for the pumping problem; th-cam.com/video/7WtGY17qltg/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared My other reply has a list of people who can fix that rifle. @@Ilikeguitarsandcats
Thanks for all your videos, I have repaired several old pump guns after watching learning and gaining confidence that I could do it too!
