    ♦ Height seems to be a predictor of resonant frequency - the taller you are, the slower your resonant frequency is. Weight and age didn’t seem to correlate with differences in resonant frequency according to one study.
    ♦ During birth, the HRV of the fetus is often measured to monitor it’s health status. If a newborn is not exposed to enough touch and affection, it will have an impaired parasympathetic nervous system and is at risk of heart failure.

    Great video, thanks. Low HRV is also something that people who suffer with PTSD experience. Because of the impact on the overall body, It is my opinion that we will be able to diagnose PTSD from body symptoms such as HRV without even needing to know the past trauma actually was. Trauma injures the body.

      I have it low and I have ptsd, measured it today. Im almost excited because vagal theory seems to be the cure to my problems. I started doing breathing and many things to make it better and its a longgg path that ll take me years but its slowly working!!!

      EliteHRV paired with a chest strap or the CorSense would probably work well

      Thanks! I have tried the CorSense. It takes almost a week of measurements to calibrate and start giving you good data, but it seems very accurate once you are into it about a week. Never tried the chest strap.

    I have a Polar Vantage V2 watch and with the strap mentioned in video I can do HRV and the biofeedback breathing exercise on top of all the other features of this sports watch. (Sleep analysis, training, etc) Only mentioning because I love the watch and it might make sense to buy instead of buying separate products to do what is mentioned in video. :)

    btw the apple watch also measures the hrv rate -> go to heart info -> heart variability (the measurements are in ms)

    Applewatch as well measures HRV. It just needs to be displayed in the Health App by configuring the favorites tab.

Is there any idea to compare the numbers between runners or are they completely individual? And what's considered low and high?       From what I've gathered, HRV numbers are very individual. 20-30 ms is low and 100+ ms is high, anywhere between that is normal. There are some links in the video description related to the topic

    You didn't mention the Whoop, the device athletes are using. I just got one, and I've been learning about my own HRV, which is what brought me to your channel. My question is, what are the actual desired HRV's in numbers? What is considered low and what is considered high? Thanks!

      Low is around 20-30 and high is 100+, but it seems we all are in different ranges and it's best to just compare your metrics with your own personal data to measure improvement or worsening.

Mine is showing up in the low to mid 30's regularly.. which is so weird because I'm a well conditioned athlete who's been resting from the gym while recovering from surgery... and I'm getting 9-10 hours of sleep per night and only walking as my exercise! It doesn't seem right for someone with my health habits?!

      @@lizzie_calisto Yeah I was surprised by my low values as well since I'm generally healthy. I had initially around 35 on average but increased it to 55ish after a few months by doing HIIT every two weeks, daily HRV breathing and practicing LKM and gratitude.

    thanks your good quality video i got my my sports watch so that study hard from each parametes :)
    But i have one question here "2:54" , the video shows that normal respiration on exhalation and inhalation are both *5.5s*. (for one breath implies 11s) In normal respiration rate is around *12~20/min* so one breath takes 3~5 seconds , a little confused , thank you!

      That rate is for coherent breathing, not regular breathing

    As well as differences in the distance between beats, there is also a difference in the peaks of each beat - think saw tooth. Both HRV and this peak variations are signs of a healthy heart. Very counter-intuitive, personally.

    Yesterday on July 1st I ran a 5k and went swimming for a while. All of that was tracked on my watch, and overall I burned 3,000 calories that day. I noticed that my watch also tracked something called “HRV.” The HRV for that night when I was sleeping was below my personal range, scoring at a 29 when it’s usually in the high 80s. Should I be worried?

      No you do not need to be worried, you exerted yourself extensively and it is being reflected in a very low HRV the next morning. It means you should focus on rest and recovery until your HRV goes back to normal

    I'm a bit confused. High HRV would mean high variability, which means an unsteady heartbeat... that's better? I have an amazfit band 5 and it measures "stress" by monitoring HPV... It doesn't actually report HPV, but stress levels. Is this video saying, the lower my stress, the more unsteady my heartbeats? That seems counter-intuitive. Someone help me out.

      That's right the more variation in your Heart beats the more variability the less stress your physiology is experiencing

    Help!!! Mine is consistently 22-23 and I don’t know how to fix it. Does the fact that I have PTSD tie in here? I’m also diagnosed as hyper vigilant so wondering if my HRV is so low because of this? I need a path forward, don’t know what to fo

      I humbly suggest yoga nidra. It’s like meditation, but focuses more on feeling the body than clearing the mind and I found it easier to relax to.
      There have been times I couldn’t do breathing exercises- the restriction would stress me out- but I could follow along a yoga nidra script so long as I gave myself permission to move.
      PTSD does get better. Your triggers can become less numerous and less sensitive.
      “The body keeps the score” was a great resource for me. The author has many lectures and interviews that cover most of the book on TH-cam videos. I encourage you to watch those to.

    Great video aside from one statement lacking something HUGE for HRV - accuracy. I mean that not only for the statement but for the company that is included.
    What do I mean? Elite HRV (the company) is NOT accurate for HRV readings. I wish I didn’t see that, because I would have to say that was an awesome video. HRV, unfortunately, is not so easy to get an accurate reading of... and of course, patience is hard to find if we need to do multiple readings to verify accuracy and etc. If you compare Elite HRV to other readings, you will be shocked, as far as I am aware, to find a major difference in data.

      Hmm I found the Elite HRV + Ploar H10 to be very accurate when compared against the Lief Therapeutics Hrv (medical grade device)

    Oura is way more than just a sleep tracker. In addition to all-night HRV measurement (in 5 min segments), and trend analysis, it provides a Moment feature to check HRV during the day while resting as well.

      Hi Arjun. Yes, the heart beat increases with inhalation and decreases with exhalation, it is completely normal 👍 if it is not comfortable, you can try changing the rate of your breathing, doing slightly shorter breaths for example

    I think the current generations of Apple Watch are as effective in measuring HRV as the Polar products.
