Synopsis: Dakota's had a crush on Danny for the longest time. She's never made a move, despite her best friend Cameron's encouragement, because she assumes that Danny is straight. But once Danny comes out to Dakota as bisexual, it's all systems go. She pulls out all the stops to woo her lady love. The only problem is, her romantic gestures keep backfiring. I remember being fourteen, having a crush on a girl, and having exactly the same problems. As I remember it, things went rather badly. Some things don't change, regardless of the sexual orientation or gender identity of the individuals involved. My opinion: If your crush is worth your time, they will treat you with dignity and respect. If they don't, then you're better of without them.

You are absolutely correct! I have been saying that for years now. The movies and shows represent fem lesbians and they date other fem lesbians. It’s nice to see non fem lesbians represented. The film makers should remember that when making films. They do need to represent bisexual females more. Better yet pan and Omni and other sexualities as well. Other sexualities exits outside of lesbian and bisexual.

Sorry that happened to you. That was uncool of her. I always take it as a compliment that someone likes me enough to ask me out - even if I don't feel the same about her. I try to let her down easy, and make sure she knows I still like her as a friend. But I think feeling awkward after such a confession is inevitable, and if you're not interested in dating her, you think it may be better to distance yourself so she can process that without your accidentally giving her mix messages by being friendly.

I've been on both sides of this situation (rejected and rejecter) and it felt terrible to me in both instances. What I meant by let them down easy is that I treated them how I would've wanted to be treated (just state clearly and kindly, "Thanks, but I don't see us that way. I prefer to see you as a friend."), nothing dramatic. If it's not a big deal to them, great! There's nothing to worry about then. For me, it's always important (aka "a big deal") because I rarely ask anyone out since I want a serious LTR, and I'm not at all interested in hookups/one night stands. That's why I treat people as if it might be important to them too.

This is something everyone has to go through at least once in their lifetime. Whether they are gay, straight, or bisexual. Asking a crush out is the first step, but we overthink things which can make it more difficult to actually ask them out on a date. But I am happy that she was able to get her girl in the end. Whether the relationship lasts past graduation or not is up for debate, but I am glad that this film tackled the first challenge of actually asking someone out without the need for grand gestures that we often see in movies and TV shows.
I’m bi and super awkward and the “cool beans” part was just me constantly! Literally all the time. I’m very, very awkward and this is 24/7.
