@@blink7265The last line used to be Britta saying “it’s just a kite”. And then the credits started. The meaning was that there was no magic and that the only force in play was love. But we decided to leave it more ambiguous.

Watching this, I wish with all my heart I had LGBTQA+ series growing up, it would have cleared so many things and made me so happy to remember now that I discovered myself more
This film has it all! Teen angst with a happy, loving ending! Plus, chase scenes and flying kites. Another impressive film from filmmaker Kirk Demorest. A lot of power is packed into this one and it's as special as Riley's birthday!

I A-D-O-R-E this little cinematographic gem! A simple and moving story. Good sense of humour. Two excellent and beautiful actress. Two girls who discover they're in love with each other. So rich in emotions. Very good choice of music. We just finished to watch this movie that we want to watcht it again and again and again. From now on, this bullion is on my favorite list!

one thing i love about short films is that overall most of them are a little corny. but i personally think that’s what makes it heartwarming and realistic! i loved this film!!!

Great film, Ending was So Cute, Actresses were cute together & had chemistry. Well done This ranks in the Top 10 list..... except the guy running with the phone was a bit cheesy (his part of the acting imo) , Superb raw emotion from the grandpa wanting a bottle, Parents leaving on the birthday was not cool.. A Lot of emotions in this 20min's. These 2 need a mini series at least.....

He never expected that the girl would actually run after him. So that's why we played him a little less threatening. But your point is well-taken that he is more mocking than threatening. @@arthousefilms Welcome, 1/2 way through that run i thought That guy wasnt expecting her to fight back. This one really did have so much packed into 20 mins, compared to so many other films. This could easily be strung into multiple episodes.
It's a cute film but it's also unfair to Miola fans that Riley and Britta can kiss without being hindered by the Covid 19 restrictions but Viola and Mira can't😢😭

You think they don't want you to make a fuss but they do! Small details of loved ones shows you care no matter how small or grand the gestures.

This is cute and adorable. It's also great that Riley and Britta can kiss and not be hindered by the Covid 19 restrictions. Unfortunately all the way in Finland the love story of Viola and Mira kissing and being intimate is being hindered by the pandemic😢😭Riley and Britta have great chemistry❤
Thanks! This is an important comment you make about the COVID stuff. Before Covid hit in 2019, we had a different film in the works. But then Covid hit and our film fell apart immediately.
So in April of 2020, it looked like Covid was dying out. Things were opening up. So this film was designed to be shot outside using strict Covid protocols (Masks, testing, distance, etc.). That's why Riley is all alone in that big house. It's also why an important character is a homeless man... so we could shoot outside. Luckily, everything worked out and nobody on the cast/crew got Covid after the shoot.
There was a lot of discussion on the shoot about what the future of movies would look like. Would characters wear masks on screen and make it part of the story? In fact, There is an American TV series called "A Million Little Things" and they actually have the characters on screen delivering their dialogue in masks! It works with the story. And they refer to social distancing and other Covid precautions. That story was written to include the new way of living.
But at the time we shot this short film, we assumed that Covid was going away and it would date our film to have the characters address it.
But there are a couple of shots in the film that give a glimpse of Covid. For example, check out the lady's mask in the background at 12:08

OML that was so fucking cute! 😄😭😊I absolutely loved the acting of her homeless grandpa especially because dammmnnnn he was on another level; and the girls their acting got better and better each and every time! The more emotional scenes came, the more natural it became! It sounded a little robotic from when she first saw her friend, but as it kept going it improved! Their kiss scene and when they were flying the kite was beautiful! I loved this so much♥♥♥ thank you for making this and props to everyone involved! You are all are so amazing and talented! 😇🥰

I once had to go states away to three weeks of training. We didn’t have a phone in our rooms, but there was a phone in the hall and both my parents and then husband had that number. They also knew where I was, had the address. On my birthday, no one contacted me. No card, nothing. I didn’t even notice it was my birthday until 9:30 at night. I’ve never forgot that oversight. Birthdays have never been important to me, but I’ve always remembered other people’s because they are to them and I’d never had family or a partner forget me like that given that they thought birthdays are important. I never said anything to any of them.
