    Hands warm but tangible control.

    Killer demo! I finally managed to secure mine today, i was party due i missed out with the site crashing and all. Knut emailed me today, and had one with my name on it, my 9th Pladask pedal to date! Not sure if he's an actual madman, but his pedals could make you wonder!

    Pladask are the best at stange, warn sounds ;P Beautiful pedal and demo. Reminds me a lot of the Fabrikat but more refined in one particular direction. Lovely stuff.

      It’s just so fun and engaging, I love these sort of sounds but often the pedals are clunky for the most part with just a few good bits. This is like 85% awesome with just a few extreme corners.

    Can I get some insight into your playstyle? Chord choices and inspirations and such. I really love your sound in this and your other demos!

    • @ponderersounds3172
      @ponderersounds3172  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for the kind words. I don’t really have a good answer for that, I’m completely self taught. As for chords I just make them up, I change tunings quite often, and most of the time I hybrid pick unless it’s more of a strumming riff. I listen to a lot of different stuff but my foundational inspiration comes from bands like American Football, that’s the era I started playing guitar, but I also listen to heaps of classical and film score stuff, that inevitable influences my melodic choices.

    Can you control where exactly the Baklengs begins and ends it's sampled loop?

    • @ponderersounds3172
      @ponderersounds3172  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not as precisely as a traditional looper but you can get good at it to pretty predictable behaviour.

    • @juanrajara2887
      @juanrajara2887 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I'm guessing it starts when you engage the right footswitch and would end according to where you have the clock set. When all these demos use their pre-recorded loops it sounds as though the Baklengs is constantly making new loops. If that's the case, does it just wait for something in your playing to stand out to grab to begin it's next loop? @@ponderersounds3172

    How similar is this to the mood would you say?

    • @ponderersounds3172
      @ponderersounds3172  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a different approach to a similar outcome, though I find Baklengs is a little more immediate and ‘easier’ to use. Don’t get me wrong, I love complex pedals. I think MOOD 2 is potentially the best of the 3 but I haven’t played it yet. I’ve owned original MOOD and Baklengs, I only own the Baklengs now.

    • @tompoynton
      @tompoynton ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ponderersounds3172 Yeah I’ve recently picked up the Mood 2 and it’s by far and away the most complex pedal I’ve ever owned, steep learning curve!

  • @juanki.aldahondo

    Love your guitar playing and your demos! Have you tried the montreal assembly count to 5? and if so, how would you say it compares to this pedal?

    • @ponderersounds3172
      @ponderersounds3172  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I own a Count To 5, they don’t really have a lot in common once you get past the fact that they’re both time stretchers, delays & can sample. The way the both approach these sounds is fairly unique. Baklengs is more textural and CT5 is a bit more on the controlled chaos side.

  • @dannydaniels3252
    @dannydaniels3252 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Which do you recommend- the Mood or Baklengs?

    • @ponderersounds3172
      @ponderersounds3172  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a tough choice, MOOD is deeper, more possibilities and MIDI etc, but it can take a fair bit of time to get it doing what you want. I find Baklengs way more immediate and easier to use live when the feeling hits me.

    • @ponderersounds3172
      @ponderersounds3172  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s a place for each, this is a contender for people who want a more straight forward approach to granular delay/looping.

      @trainsurfer7593 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ponderersounds3172 I know, it was just a cheap joke... 😁 I've just managed to order one - there will definitely be a place on my board for each. Wonderful demonstration as always, such beautiful noises you make...

    • @ponderersounds3172
      @ponderersounds3172  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s a granular delay/sampler at its core I guess.

    • @ponderersounds3172
      @ponderersounds3172  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah I’m running loops in, it has a short looper/sampler that has its length determined by the clk value

    Does anyone who also owns Fabrikat think that the Baklengs makes similar sounds?

    • @ponderersounds3172
      @ponderersounds3172  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are ball park similar, but I think the Vaklengs is probably the most cohesive and playable reverse sampler I’ve owned, and I’ve got all the big ones in that category.

    • @jamisonlee9611
      @jamisonlee9611 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ponderersounds3172 Thanks. This is probably an apples/oranges kinda thing, but the Microcosm backwards looper situation seems pretty workable. What are your thoughts on that comparison?

    • @ponderersounds3172
      @ponderersounds3172  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find the Microcosm excellent in so many ways but it does take a fair bit of tuning in and really benefits from MIDI, Baklengs is so immediate on the other hand. I love them both equally but differently.

    I just asked another effects maker, on eBay, if they made an experimental pedal that's based on Delay effects. I didn't know the name for these types of effects, though. Now, as soon as I return to YT, I'm faced with a _Granular_ effects device.
