I bought mine new when I was stationed in California at Point Mugu Navy base back on September 15 1978. The Pacific Coast Highway and "Rhonda" (as in our Honda as my girlfriend) were best of friends. Still have her.
i had one of these for about 2 months it was terrifying for its time 140-150 and how fast it got up there and bloody heavy but what a monster it was and it was mine me and my friends were always buying bikes and swapping good old days i got to say
I rode a friends once. Oh my God, what a machine. I was riding a Z500 at the time which was quick enough for the motorway without it getting out of breath. I'd ridden litre bikes before, but the CBX 1000 was something else. I've never heard a better sounding bike and I had never been scared on a bike until riding it.

get someone who knows what they're doing to make an exhaust for you. It's an equal-length header, 6 into 1 merge collector (meaning that all 6 pipes merge into one pipe at the exact same point. gotta make sure it's that specifically or the sound will be different
Been a long time since this video was posted, but I'm curious - anyone know if this was a stock CBX, or what was added to it, other than the Hall ignition kit? I've seen this video a dozen times or more now... every time I see it, I am saddened that I once had the opportunity to buy one back in the early 80's for about $3000... just didn't have the money at the time... sure, there may be better handling, more horsepower, lighter weight motorcycles out there... but still, this is a dream bike to own, and ride... and I've had the pleasure to ride some of the best... Love this Video!
Looking at the speed of it- is it modified ? yes they were quick , but they were fairly heavy so even in the day they weren’t that much faster than a CB 900 that thing seems to pull out of the corners like a modern superbike

Mostly cos it's half a V12 engine. Similarly, 3 cylinder engines tend to sound like a V6.
