    In Jordan (which is extremely arid), Geoff Lawton has had success planting dates, pomegranates, figs, etc. on and below contoured swales covered with mulch or agricultural byproducts, which hold moisture and protect the soil from direct sun exposure.
    The key seems to be to ensure that all water that falls is captured or encouraged to infiltrate rather than run off--taking what precious little soil there is with it.

    @PerajEbay not really they do need water i live in a very hot country south east turkey and trust me they need water, if none then believe me not just the friut but the tree also dries --may be dates ?????
