I love the way the strawberries look -- starting out with a light colored clay and then painting over them makes them look much more real than starting out with red clay.

What a brilliant way of making molds for raspberries!
to be perfectly honest (and because I've been scolded at) I was inspired by Angie Scarr and (mostly) by Tomo Tanaka (Nunu's House) for the raspberry technique. Of course I tweaked it to my liking and I've seen it elsewhere done.
Using different tiny objects is a good way to avoid sculpting :)

same I have so many diff clays and tools and accessories and I don't know where to even start. I went to Michaels and spent about $300.00 and still have everything unopened for months now. It was an impulsive decision I made as per usual lol. I just opened a white and beige color to make an off white color for vanilla cake.
@@angelicaduncan9694 I'm terrible like that too. Buy lots of stuff that I never use because I despair over not knowing how to start 😂 I did make this cake and it turned out pretty good for my first ever clay mini!

it's a tiny round ceramic "tile", I got it from Tanja (SugarCharmShop) but she doesn't sell them. A piece of square mosaic would work too.

a gift from Tanja (SugarCharmShop) you can use a mosaic tile instead, works as well.

Another wonderful tutorial! Can I ask what kind of varnish or glaze do you use, and do you put different kinds on different parts of the piece. For example, do you use gloss varnish on the fruit and then maybe a matte on the cake and frosting or do you use the same varnish on the whole piece?
I use a resin varnish (it's called "Cleopatre glassificateur brillant" - no clue if it exists outside of France) and I varnish more or less depending where. If I want it matte, I don't varnish, if I want it very glossy I'll apply 2-3 coatings.

Hi. What do you use in this video to make the Raspberrie mold? I think that it doesn't exist here in Brazil, but maybe I can find something similiar to it. Thanx!
I use "siligum" from Gedeo. It's a two part silicone mold. I'm sure there are other brands, it's a very common way of making molds now.

Hi Stephanie! Great video, as always! Is that balsa wood that you use for those mini trays, or what kind of wood? I've watched a bunch of your vids, and have never heard you mention the little trays.
no balsa wood is the worst, I would always buy wood at miniature fairs so I could see the grain and touch it. No clue what it was as I stopped the miniature food sculpting.

It's a homemade ceramic disc. Tanja from SugarCharmShop makes them and gives them to friends.

It's a gift from my friend Tanja (SugarCharmShop) you can't buy them. However you can get mosaic tiles, these will work as well.

I found really (really) inexpensive microbeads on eBay -- I think I paid under $2 for 10 colors (and free shipping!) They came from overseas, so it took a few weeks, but it was very worth the wait.
