  • Ingredients
I made a mistake in the video and said 2 cups of sugar. The Recipe only calls for one cup. I'm sorry😫
    1 cup of salted butter
    1 cup of sugar
    1 tsp of vanilla
    1/2 - 1 cup of chipped pecans
    1/2 - 3/4 cup of chocolate chips
    Directions
Prepare a baking sheet by buttering the bottom. I use a 9x13 but a smaller one can be used. Sprinke desired amount of pecans over the butter. Set aside
Add butter and sugar to a medium sized heavy gaged sauce pan. Melt over medium high heat, stirring occasionally until it comes to a full boil. Once it comes to a boil turn heat down to medium. Continue to stir occasionally until the temperature of the mixture reaches 300 degrees on a candy thermometer.
Once candy has reached 300 degrees, remove from heat. Stir in vanilla very carefully. Pour toffee over pecans. Spread toffee desired thickness. Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot Toffee. Allow them to sit about 2 minutes to soften up. Using a spatula, spread melted chips over toffee. Sprinkle remaining nuts over chocolate. Let the candy cool completely before breaking into pieces. Store in airtight container. Enjoy

I NEVER would have thought of saving the butter wrapper to butter the pan! How brilliant!

I made this a few weeks ago and I was so proud of myself! I didn’t use pecans, just topped with toffee. Just like a Heath Bar! Yum!!

Hi Kathy, I made this toffee TWICE and it turned out perfectly!! TY!!
*Please Note: You need to edit your video, as you say 2 cups of sugar but your recipe says 1 Cup. I checked other recipes for the correct amount of sugar.

Thank you so much! Make sure you only add 1 cup of sugar to the toffee. I said 2 in the video. So sorry! I try my best not to make mistakes, but it happens. Welcome to my channel ❤️

I'm searching for a toffee recipe that yields a crisp yet tender toffee. You know not gonna break your teeth on. Perhaps thinner pour would do the trick.
I'll make your recipe and see how it goes. Thank you for a good demonstration.

I hope you like it. To make it thinner, just use a larger sheet pan and spread it thin❤️

Kathy! It turned out amazing. Exactly what I was wanting. And SO easy. I didn't even use a candy thermometer. Just cooked it till it browned nicely. Around 8 minutes and not a scorch on the pan. Thank you!@@kathyssouthernkitchen302

Omg! I could tell you were southern when I watched your divinity video but, I didn’t realize you live in Dothan, AL until I saw the Dothan magazine in your beautiful kitchen! Then, you talked about Shutes & I realized you still live there! I’m from, & live in, Enterprise! No wonder I liked you so much!❤️❤️

Any advice on avoiding separation? Some recipes (like yours) call for constant stirring. Others call for no stirring. I keep getting a puddle of butter :(

Ms Kathy would it make a difference if using powdered brown sugar. Instead of granulated sugar. Love your cooking show

When making candy, you need granulated sugar

@@kathyssouthernkitchen302 i use only cane sugar for jelly, jams, preserves, the beet sugar will not preserve well.
