    When you're in Africa, you have to do Safari. We didn't have time to get all the way to one of the big national parks like Kruger, so we decided to book a night at Aquila Private Game Reserve near Touws River. We ended up booking a second night's stay within half an hour of arriving!
    In terms of logistics, Aquila Game Reserve is a 2.5 hour drive north from Cape Town. It cost 2000 Rand per person, per night for a standard room which works out at around £95 GBP or $125 USD. It's full board so you don't have to worry about extra cost for food and you get 2 safari game drives included with the price.
    You usually have to do the afternoon game drive and then the morning one before you leave. However, we arrived at Aquila late and so they kindly let us do two game drives the next morning to make up for it.
    It's advertised as 'Big 5 Safari' but if you get to get picky about it, they don't have any leopards in the park. Having said that, there are elephants, African buffalo, rhinos and of course, lions. It is a private game reserve so it's not as diverse as the national parks and nowhere near as big. To provide some context, it's 10,500 hectares whereas Kruger National Park is over 2 million!
    Regardless, considering that it's a safari that's close to Cape Town, it's incredibly accessible and a fraction of the cost of the large national parks. So if you haven't done safari before and don't have the time or budget to go to the big national parks - Aquila is a great option.
    The setting itself was amazing with a pool that overlooks the park. There are sun loungers, a fire pit where you can have marshmallows and star gaze at night, as well as a spa (which is included in the price if you book two nights).

      @Tony Simister - that’s why I like to make these videos so I’m happy if they help in some way! Have you pulled the trigger yet?

    Looks like quite the adventure and what a beautiful place to stay! Liked the footage of the animals. Really cool to see. Thanks for the video! 😀

      @JD Jones - yep it was really good, especially since its so close to Cape Town (the drive there was ace). Farrah had never done safari so that was cool - as I said in the second vid, you can't compare it to the large national parks like Kruger but a good 'getaway' for those that live in Cape Town, or are just visiting!

      @Bernadette Pieterse - thanks! I use a GoPro 9 for the talking stuff but the shots of the animals are with a Sony RX10 IV. Hopefully the other videos are also helpful for your trip to Cape Town - I loved my trip

    Thanks guys, I''m actually thinking about proposing in this place, do you guys have any suggestions on where there are some scenic spots i was thinking during sunset. I'm open for new ideas though

      @bryanhuezo7986 - well let's hope they don't look at the comments on this video! I'm sure that if you contacted Aquila, they could work something out for you as they've probably had this sort of request before. Perhaps getting a private jeep and heading out to where we stopped to have some sparkling wine would be nice - I'm no expert in these matters!

    Awesome! Who did you book with and would you recommend this for 1 person travelling alone? Wanted something in budget. How much did you pay for it roughly.

    • @WiththeSparrows
      @WiththeSparrows  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @k4media685 - it depends on what you're looking for really. If you've never done a safari before, it's a great starting point and easy enough to do solo (plus super easy to get to from Cape Town).
      In terms of price - this may have changed but I believe it was $100 a night. Worth checking on their site though as it was 1.5 years ago!

    Great video, really enjoyed watching. Where did you rent your car from and would you recommend ?

    • @WiththeSparrows
      @WiththeSparrows  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @KanssXV - thanks. I rented the car from Thrifty and picked it up at their office in Cape Town (near the waterfront).
      Would I recommend it? Absolutely, if you can get a car it gives you so much more freedom. Would I recommend the Bakkie? That's a matter of taste, but I loved driving round in a pick up!

    i simply loved this video!! the quality of everything is amaaazing, can i ask what camera are you using??

    • @WiththeSparrows
      @WiththeSparrows  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Gabriela dutra - thanks for the kind words! Mostly filmed on a GoPro but the shots of the animals are with a Sony RX10 IV - having a zoom lens on safari makes all the difference.

    • @WiththeSparrows
      @WiththeSparrows  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Marco King - that is very random! Top is from Uniqlo and the shorts are Billabong (I believe they are called Carter shorts - nice and stretchy)

    Very basic reserve. Just a cheap touristy joint 😊

    • @WiththeSparrows
      @WiththeSparrows  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Chander Sirohi - but reasonably good for someone who hasn't been on safari and it's accessible from CPT! Certainly wouldn't be comparing it to the bigger parks though...
