I found this video so interesting, I had no real understanding of the civil service tbh! I spent 5 years in University to become a Biology teacher (in Ireland and uk) and although I love my job, i'm still paying off student debt in a career that's underpaid and undervalued. Only found your channel recently, i'm also an army wife and due my first baby not long after you! 😊

The civil service has definitely opened doors for me. So much so I even got my family in. I left school with no GCSE or A levels, but I've worked as an AO and EO in HMRC and Insolvency Service, EO in DWP and now work as a policy advisor in Defra as an HEO. I honestly love it. I'd never have imagined I would be on over £30k per year, in a profession like I'm doing with all the flexibility such as remote working and flexible working considering my qualifications. I'm now waiting on the date for my Grade 7 interview.

Definitely agree that university isn’t for everyone! You’re such an inspiration and it really shows how much you enjoy your job and ultimately that is the most important thing! I’m currently 20 and going into my final year of my psychology degree in September and then I’m thinking about going a PGCE and becoming a primary school teacher! So definitely will be a while until I get a proper job but it really is individual for everyone as I still feel so young! Love your channel so real and honest!xx

With my apprenticeship in the civil service as an ‘engineer’. we literally applied through indeed, those who they like got asked to go in for a test to see what you know about basic engineering, they then invited a certain amount for an interview to test your mental side, a low amount of people got in but it’s so great £18,000 a year at 18 is great.

Regardless off if you are made redundant at least you'll have the company on your CV and transferable skills.

It’s a great job to have here because it cones with lots of job security and benefits which here are not as common as in Europe (I grew up in Germany)! So it’s a nice secure job! I think you are a little younger than our girls and are so well spoken and have it all figured out already. Good for you! Our youngest is 25 and still in University. I love my politics and I'm hugely interested in the Government so I am very motivated and determined to strive on a Higher/Degree Apprenticeship upon completing my A Levels. I applied for an Apprenticeship within the Cabinet Office and I have completed the written assessment and the Video Interview (first Interview in my life over Google Meet).
