Mojang brought back SWORD BLOCKING(Kinda...?)

EXPLANATION:
Mojang added back a component in the new datapack updates(which accompanied snapshot 25W04A) which allows you to use any kind of item to block(like a shield). This is a modifiable component for EVERY item, not just for the sword! Here's what Mojang said in their article!
New BLOCKS_ATTACKS component
When present, this item can be used like a Shield to block attacks to the holding player
