Great episode!! It would be an awesome idea for Ande to come back when she is further along in her writing journey. More of like an update or to share how she responded before and after releasing the debut

Love everything you said about keeping the door closed until you are ready to open it. I will definitely be "closing the door" a bit on my next round of revisions for GWC. Just so I can have the time to focus on this story I have been working on for so long without the pressure of being watched. Love this format, and I am so excited for more of these cafe chats! :)

I normally don’t like interview videos but this was great. I liked the white border and crispness of the audio and video, and of course, Ande, was a perfect first guest! Great job, Brielle 😊

that was the fastest 40 minutes EVER. Loved this interview and so excited for this series! I also have a longstanding history of narrating two characters having a conversation OUT LOUD 😭. One of my exes actually pointed out that I have conversations with myself in public. when I tell you I was STUNNED like wdym i'm being perceived at all times

My two faves in one video 💖💖 maybe I’m weird but I love seeing editing vlogs and learning about other people’s processes. It’s the technical part of the creative process and it may not be the most fun and passionate but it’s essential to the final product. A lot of people gloss over revisions and edits and it doesn’t give the full picture.
And side note about being on the swing 😂 I used to play with my dollhouse for hours every day as a child and making up stories of a family. It was story telling with the only medium I had before I knew how to write. And I also have snippets of dialogue in my head. The characters are there, you just have to listen.
    Love you two 💕💕

I love the idea of the Authortube Cafe! I’ll definitely be back to watch more of these in the future. I struggle to write while I’m filming as well, so it’s a great tip to just record for a few minutes and then get back to writing! 🤍🤍

Wow. I was excited for this. My expectations have been BLOWN THROUGH. This touched on so many things I’ve yet to put words to. The conversation around filming and writing was something I didn’t even know I needed. I love vlogging but this matched up SO WELL with me creatively. I might literally listen to this again.

Super interesting to hear you both speak about the revision process. This year I picked up a half written book that I had started writing last year and my perspective really changed on that topic. I decided to breeze through it, to really just catch myself up on the story, but it turned into a revision process more than anything. Back when I was writing the first draft, it felt daunting to even think about going back and picking through it all with critical eye. It was this filter of thinking that once it was down on paper, that was the end, as if I had no freedom to change anything. But now, that perspective has since changed as I began to revise this year. The process ended up being such a freeing experience. My filter had changed from fear into an 'I get another opportunity to make this story better' perspective. Almost like I was vindicating the characters and the world from how they'd been done dirty in the first draft. When I had removed myself from the world, I started seeing it as separate from myself, which gave me the ability to see it as if I am just a helping hand in it's creation.
Of course, this mostly has to do with revisiting an old story rather than a start to finish process of working on the same book with no breaks. The other side of the coin was that it also was a great lesson in taking space from a project. I don't think it's necessary to take an entire year off, but now coming back to writing, I've learned how to better pace myself and take breaks even when I'm full of energy and excitement to keep writing. It feels better to stop when I'm at a high rather than reaching my low and trying to revisit it the next day. I think that pushing ourselves to the bottom requires a recovery period and makes the work stuffer when we try to hit our word goals. Like we're working on an empty stomach with a fever. If we stay healthy, at that high period, to meet it with am able bodied mind again, we go further. It's all about the longevity game, I suppose.
Anyways, I thought you'd enjoy reading a testimony about revision. Just found your channel a couple of weeks ago and really love what you're doing. I don't know you personally, but I am proud of you.

I totally agree that there doesn’t seem to be as much revision content as drafting content. I struggled initially starting the revision process bc I wasn’t quite sure where to start. Honestly, there are some really good Reddit threads out there that really helped me during that phase

I've not finished the video yet but wanted to comment on something you said Brielle - it isn't odd at all that you have more trouble with stories that are more personal or have a message you want to convey! Those types of stories often feel more "important," like you need to take them more seriously so that others will take what you're trying to say seriously, whereas with something you're not directly related to can be looser and more playful!
