    I was at an amusement park when I was little and they did a Halloween event where scare actors roam the park, literally the whole park, no where was safe. They actually had someone dressed as the jackal running around and that has stuck with me for life. I don’t scare easy anymore but if that man ran up on me today I would still freak out

      Valley Fair in Minnesota does something similar. For all of October the Park is referred to as "Valley Scare". They have haunted houses open up and after 8pm they let scare actors roam free the entire park. However, they do have "No Boo Necklaces" which are little light up ghosts' people can wear around their necks to tell everyone not to scare them. Usually, it's for young kids or people who just want to enjoy the rides but it's so cool!

    This movie was a remake and I really wish they'd remake it again and just get it right this time. It has so much potential. Maybe even make it a series so that we have time to learn about each ghost.
    Someone get Mike Flanagan on that. He'd nail it.

    • @Kthenerd14
      @Kthenerd14 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      I wish they could redo it too but I feel like the issue the first movie ran into (besides the editing) is the runtime.... Maybe it would be better as a limited series because then they would have time to flesh out the ghosts?
      Though I find it hard to believe that any channel/streaming service that takes it would have the impulse control to not completely milk it for 12+ seasons.
      C’est la vie 😐

      What's funny is this movie actually is a remake of a really old Castle flick from I think the 50s-70s I don't remember. An old black and white movie titled 13 Ghosts where you had to have special 3D style glasses on to see the ghosts. It was a really cool gimmick for an incredibly bad movie.
      So I guess remake wise, third time might be the charm to make this series of 2 stinkers into one good movie.

      @seventeenseventythirteen7465 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Kristine_202 The hook for it was it was SO scary that you could choose to watch the show not wearing the glasses so that you wouldn't see the ghosts and instead just see the actors interacting with open air and showing things float around.
      I think that'd be super cool today, except for there'd be a home release of it and it'd kind of ruin the magic of it.
      I just like the idea that there is a Paranormal Activity version out there where we see the ghosts and they're just constantly on screen fucking with people instead of just watching a camera pointed at an empty room waiting for the ghosts to slightly move things.

    So I would personally switch the Hammer and The Juggernaut for 2 reasons. Reason 1: I think the story for the Hammer is more meaningful, the duality between him being a good man, a good father who took pride in his craft, and later his tools became something they used against him, it was overall very poetic to me. The Juggernauts story is more straightforward, looks like a monster, becomes a monster after a little push. Reason 2: just absolutely LOVE the Hammers design, I disagree with the Juggernaut being scarier, I think the beginning scene where he was just wrecking peoples shit and the death of Dennis really pushes the idea that he is an impossible feat, but had we seen the fucking Hammer just popping heads and breaking limbs, that would seriously change how we view him. However, thats just me, and the rest of your list is spot on in my opinion! Love ya GG!

    I've always been a fan of things in a group that are just very unique compared to everything else and The Torso is that for me. Yea he was basically a prop for a quick one second shot but with just how this dude is nothing but a body with no legs and a head rolling around its very memorable.

  • @kiradeki3561
    @kiradeki3561 ปีที่แล้ว +266

    Y'know, I feel like the Torn Prince really got done dirty by his makeup. If you watch his backstory, there's this talk of his car having gone off the road and burst into flames, and they just took a moderately attractive guy and gave him some mild road rash. I really think a more severe look to his injuries would've suited him more. Make him appear with rolling, thick smoke. Singe the fuck out of his letterman jacket. Maybe light his baseball bat on fire. And above all, I think it would've been best if it looked like half of his face had been all but ripped off in the crash.
    Another ghost who's makeup didn't work well for was the Torso. The saran wrap really ruins any gore he could've had and instead makes him look like packaged meat. Take that away, goop him up with some blood and some yucky greenish water and water plants and he'd look way better. Especially if you had like chains on him and stuff showing how he was weighed down when the mob disposed of him.
    The Withered Lover was conceptually just bad though. You don't feel afraid of her, and they didn't want to make her look gross and scary because she's supposed to be this big emotional point. IMO if they were going to use her, they needed to have her more obscured. Let her show up without the protags knowing who she is, and have her be haunted and terrified, not trying to scare her family, but running about in panic like someone trapped in a house fire would've been. Let her accidentally scare them, and then give us a big reveal where they realize who she is. That would've worked so much better. Or...here's an idea....just...don't use her. Use someone else. Anyone else.

      I don't fully agree with the first but I'll give it to you. The other two no way. With the Torso not being gory was the point. The mob had to keep shit clean to keep the murder on the DL. And the Withered Lover isn't meant to be scary. She's his WIFE. That's her entire point. She's meant to be sad. I feel like you didn't really watch the movie and just wanted things to be scary because ghost.

    • @Corthmic
      @Corthmic ปีที่แล้ว +27

      @@MamaMOB The torso did have to be "clean" but the body was also disposed of in water, so it should've at least been horribly bloated. Seeing bits of bloated meat poking through the gaps in the saran wrap would've been disgusting without going overboard.

    I always loved the backstory of the angry princess. Something about the fact that she was her own undoing really resonated and felt horribly tragic. Addicted to the idea of being perfect/worthy of love, never being valued for anything but her looks, and eventually giving up her life when she (ironically) ruined her sight in a botched attempt at self improvement. I know it's objectively not the scariest but it felt the most real to me as a young girl.

  • @dixbyfloppin6979
    @dixbyfloppin6979 ปีที่แล้ว +49

    I love the tier list and the only disagreement I really have is for the torso. You say it's just a prop which I totally get but seeing the head move in the bag and seeing this thing struggle to move against the saran wrap is unique and cool enough in my eyes to be worth a C tier if the pilgrimess in her stocks and spooky face is goo enough. May not be as threatening but I feel the fear factor is equal putting him right behind her. Love the content thank you GG!

    • @Parasolhyena
      @Parasolhyena ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think maybe he's going off what could kill you, I love the torso but I can outrun the torso by a mile. Pilgrimess with the wails of the town folk following her and being able to charge, swipe, bite and maybe having magic ranks higher... but I truly think Angry princess got done dirty if this is by rating of danger. She clearly got people killed by tricking them (the lawyer and almost the teen.)

    Hammer > Juggernaut. Better look and better story, even if it shares some plot points with others. Hammer has a story arc, but Juggernaut is just a big dude who kills people.
    Also, one thing I never understood is why about half of these ghosts are victims in their stories instead of killers. Why is a guy who died in a car crash homicidal in the afterlife? Or a woman strangled by a jealous lover? Or a kid shot accidentally with an arrow? Their methods of death make for cool looking ghosts, but I don't know why I'm supposed to be threatened by them.

    • @cascharles3838
      @cascharles3838 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think they're just angry tbh, it's a pretty common trope with ghost stories when victims come back as angry and vengeful spirits. And I get it, I'd be angry too if I suffered a horrible death then was stuck as a ghost. But I quite like a tragic touch to a ghost story anyways

    I really really love the pilgrimess, the fact that they make her horrifying wails (or the wails of those who wronged her) almost impossible to hear really sucks. I think the most underrated are the Pilgrimess and the Bound Woman. I am also a fan of the Torn Prince. If the script hadn't screwed over the ghosts all of them have such huge potential. I used to write horror stories but I am seriously thinking about writing about each character from what I would want to see, including their original backstory but adding more context, not to publish at all but for my own entertainment. The jackal because the idea of a psychotic person that knows he is psychotic and can't be fixed and he genuinely tries to get locked up to protect others but can't help but be the way he is, in the end, is so underutilized in horror and so rarely done in a compelling way. I think they kind of dropped the ball with both, tbh. I want to see these characters in more competent films of their own, I think the ideas are strong enough for them to be the sole antagonist of whatever film they would be in.

    I think the Juggernaut is too, basic.
    He’s a big guy, who rips people apart with his big hands.
    I’m a short guy, who rips crab legs apart with my moderate hands.
    The HAMMER? Good backstory aside, he has GIANT NAILS IN HIM, which he rips out and uses AS WEAPONS.
    The WORST the JUG can do is duplex you in half and kill you quick. The WORST Hammer man can do is CRUCIFY YOU, slowly removing one nail from his body at a time, and HAMMERING it into yours.
    Like he gets that first leg of yours, and now he has AAAAAAAAALLL the time in the world to ENJOY what he’s gonna do to you.
    The Jug doesn’t have that whole “I’m gonna take my time and play with my food” deal, he just STARTS SMASHING YOU TO PIECES until you are no longer a living toy. Brutal, painful sure, but fast.
    The Hammer is always whipping out a new nail and smiling at you like “Oh I cannot wait to have you all to myself”
    Jackal? Best ghost hands down if you disagree you are wrong. Good backstory good look. Sure, he lacks the creepy enjoyment and drawing out of his ghost killing that Hammer has, but UNLIKE Jug, he can’t just lift you up and break you right away. He has to work at it, and that’s gonna hurt way more, and way longer than Jug.
    To compare all their backstories, of these top teir boys, Jackal was a sick man, tried to get help got none, and instead of escaping consigned himself to death by fire, that’s actually really noble, S tier story. Although it makes me question him being a ghost, cause ghost rules are like “Do you have revenge to take? Vengeful spirit?” Yes is ghost no is afterlife, Jackal seems to be ready to rock right into the pearly gates, forgiven for his sins and now with his mind fixed in death. So I’m not sure, why he became a ghost in the first place.
    Hammer has EPIC murderous revenge, his killing spree is absolutely mental. Driven by rage, and grief, he was a man of the law, he followed it because that’s what was good and he was an honest man. Working the forge and making honest money. And then of course it all got fd up because RACISM, and a spiral down to pound town. It’s pretty good, ghost logic dictates that he DEFINITELY would become a vengeful spirit, and be bound to earth, he was caught and nailed up, so, he DEFINITELY didn’t kill EVERY person on his hit list, so he still has Justice to seek, even if they’ve been long gone now.
    Jug, brain no work good but muscles big. Daddy die so, me get bored and start pulling in peoples arms till they pop off. Works good with heads, I like to watch them bounce and roll, sometimes I throw them and they pop Hahaha.
    He’s just a big dumb idiot driven to madness by his father’s death, a strong one sure, took a lot to take him out, and he probably would become a vengeful spirit. But I’m not able to call his fathers death a catalyst for madness, so much as I would call it just that without having someone to tell him what to do and not to do, he just started breaking things and people.
    For me, Hammer man comes short after Jackal, Jug in last place. He’s JUST a big dumb guy. Nothing particularly interesting besides he was hard to kill. Yeah, that’s the point of being big.
    The similarities between The Big Child and Hammer end after “they lost a loved one and went on rampage.
    The Big Boy doesn’t seem driven to insanity, to enjoying violence, he’s driven to anger and driven by rage to kill. For the most part, in death he’s happy to just stay with his mum. In fact it seems in some scenes that he’s more afraid of what the living will do to his mother than any other emotions. Which is understandable.
    Hammer man, sadly, he’s sadistic, completely driven to causing PAIN, more than just death. Big boo uses an axe, because it was on hand. It’s a pretty effective killing tool.
    Now, A BLACKSMITH, has access to a MASSIVE variety of weapons which will make his spree MORE EFFECTIVE, make sure he kills all his targets, instead he opts for his trusty hammer.
    It’s slow, and it’s painful, in fact it is probably the least efficient and most destructive weapon he could have chosen.
    Choosing to bash bones to pulp, that’s a big difference over choosing to kill everyone, example wise, if he was using an axe, he would probably have succeeded as the time required to bash people to bits is a little longer than one would think. I mean he could just be going for headshots all over, but I’m not sure that’s the case, it sounds more like he was taking peoples legs out so they couldn’t run and then bashing them to oblivion.

    I can definitely agree with the Juggernaut being slightly above The Hammer only because as you said the Hammer started killing for revenge which gave him more of a heart (he was wrongly accused and his family murdered as well as being discriminated against on top of all, I can understand that myself). Whereas the Juggernaut killed because he just snapped so regardless of what could have been done differently in between he would have still killed. Like in the film you can tell very briefly, the Hammer hesitates the attacks and kill, where the Juggernaut doesn’t even think about it.

    Also the mere idea of this dude living eternity like that just fucks me over because if he didn't get to be complete not even after death, what hope is there for all of us?

    In terms of how much they scared me the first time I saw them in the movie, I'd place the torso very high on my list along with the angry princess and the pilgrimess even though I wasn't sure what the pilgremess would do had she caught them. Spit hot sauce at their faces, perhaps? The first born son would have better use in the movie if he was the one who tricked Arthur's kid into coming down the stairs to be cornered by the bound woman. This movie deserves a remake, or better yet, a TV series.

    A really tall guy with bullet holes, or a guy with a hammer attached to his hand with 500 nails in his body
    NGL I'm screaming, pissin and shittn over the guy with the nails. Theres just so much more intense horror going on there than bullet holes. The agony of the nails, ontop of the hand-hammer that just drives up the factor of straight death. Juggernaught? Eh, I can get past a lot of it lol. Juggernaut is probably my favorite cause of his size and makeup, I think they also used prosthetics to exaggerate his facial feature and it reminds me of the look of the dead items from evil dead. I love characters that follow the philosophy that less is more, in how his slender body kinda hides just how much physical strength he packs. Mathew lilard also became a ghost so he’s also an S tier
    It counts.

    OK, I have to say that I love the First Born Son A LOT but I know I'm biased in this opinion because I know I like him based solely on two facts: that I think his looks are great (love the fact that he's just a kid in a cowboy costume and the arrow in his head is a great addition because while it evokes a type of "cartoonish" death that a cartoon cowboy could have, it's also gory and bloody so I think it's a nice contrast) and that I have a soft spot for creepy kids in movies lol

    I actually agree with the hammer instead of the juggernaut for the look because the juggernaut is too huge and can possibly escape from him while hammer if you really think about it he would break down doors and barricades because with denis he broke arm and back to cause immediately internal bleeding (I’m not a doctor but I’m saying he has incredible strength) and the hammer was able to walk a lot faster than the juggernaut as well but I’m more than happy to hear your opinion and thoughts about my opinion and you’re doing a awesome job! Keep it up gg😁…
    Edit: the time kill of killing denis the juggernaut just kinda stare at him like in amusement because his story he hitchhiked people and just murder them like Ted bundie while the hammer goes immediately goes into kill mode as if he still has that revenge or anger in him and sorry for adding too much but that’s how much I’m dedicated to hammer lol and have fun…
