    I couldn't be happier for the officers and pathologist that worked this from day one 40 years ago, to have lived long enough to see this case to the end. It's because of their wonderful work back then, that brought this verdict today. God bless you.

    Growing up in Cedar Rapids and hearing about this case always bothered me. Every time I went to Westdale mall as a kid and thinking of what happen there always freaked me out especially walking out to the Parking lot. Im happy that her family may find some peace in this verdict. Rip Michelle

    There may have even been a part of him that wanted to just confess when they showed up to arrest him. He probably just wanted to play one more hand he 'thought he had', with the DNA. If there is a chance he changed since then, it would be a huge load on a person for that long to always be living, but looking over their shoulder. I personally, think he was going to (at the very least) sexual assault her, but it turned south for him by her fighting him. May she finally rest in peace. She suffered tremendously. :(

    • @lisas8244
      @lisas8244 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I totally agree it was an attempted sexual assault that he couldn't complete, considering when they arrested him he had violent porn involving blonde women being stabbed on his computer.

      @Vegans Suck LOL Popular with what type of people? Immoral, sick, demented, violent sociopaths. In that case, if anyone's DNA is found on a murder victim, he too will be charged with murder. What they found on his computer alone doesn't make him guilty. It just shows an attitude, a mindset and that he gets his kicks watching blondes degraded and killed. A misogynist. Couple that with the irrefutable DNA evidence and you have a monster.

    • @sarac1118

      Vegans Suck I’ve never seen snuff porn on Pornhub, youporn, xhamster etc. I think the word “popular” was a little misused? That’s not to say that people don’t seek it out via dark web, but you can’t just get that type of film anywhere.

    Thanks 'law and crime' great coverage. Thank goodness common sense prevailed even though the facts were steadfast. The defence put on a good show considering there was only Burn's dna along with Michelle's. Their argument was because originally Michelle's items were put into one package and not separated , which in 1979 was considered normal practice , then when reopened numerous times for investigation still in the one package it could have been susceptible to contamination, but it wasn't, it still only had her dna and his. No other transfer!. Also another theory, maybe his dna was there accidentally as he had at some time been through the mall as had Michelle and was transferred to the crime scene even though the "real perpetrator's " wasn't???????. Ridiculous. Prosecutor and all states witnesses were Brill. Great result !
