Hi Under the Turtle Shell! You are the winner of the January Notebook!! Send me an email at sarra@heartbreathings.com with your full name and mailing address, and I'll get this out next week! Also, just leave a heart or other comment in reply here so I know it's really you, haha. Congrats!!
Welcome back to the January Notebook Challenge! Warning that there is a brief discussion of dieting and weight loss in today's video. I hope your new year is off to a great start!!
I am in the process of recovering from Achilles’ tendon surgery so this year will be difficult in losing weight which I need to do to take the stress off my heart. Once my surgeon gives me clearance to do more exercise. I can start some rehab which is very light stretching of my ankle. My mom surprised me and got me books 3 and 4 of Shadow Demon Saga books! I am so excited to read them! I am doing a Hebrew class with my Cantor from my synagogue, and I get the weekly email with the Torah portion from my clergy at my synagogue. I take notes on what they say is important to think about for that week. I am almost done a notebook that I have been using for my classes on Zoom for my day program for adults with Autism.
Wow, Sarra, you are glowing in your last few videos, like your energy has shifted. SO inspiring and uplifting to me, and your health journey comes at the exact same time (and starting weight) as my own. There is so much in this video that you've shared that I also want to try for myself. Thank you!
I have a notebook for my online classes with my day program for adults with Autism. I am almost done it. I have another one ready to go when I finish the one I am using.
I love that you want to get into sketching and doodling. I got back into watercolor and bought paper and watercolor sketchbooks. My mom was an amazing artist in watercolor so I have a few of her brushes that I use. Hubby bought me traveling brushes and a traveling palette. And I've been watching even more watercolor videos than writing videos. In fact, painting regularly is part of my HB90 goals this quarter. :)
I've gotten back into painting and drawing in the last few months. Just been feeling super artsy. I've also been watching more art videos than writing videos. :)
Sarra, The idea of having completed journals all lined up on a bookshelf TOTALLY resonates with me! It would feel like such a satisfying visual accomplishment to see them lined up on the shelves!!! 🥰
Yay the HB Notebook challenge is back!!! I use an A6 for Morning Pages, it was the size that finally made morning pages easy to be consistent in without overwhelm or guilt for not doing it. Highly recommend A6 for morning pages!
Love this idea I always try to keep a great big notebook every morning and it is too much every day, but an A6 or A5 size is such a better idea! Sometimes making it simpler to build the habit in the first place especially is the way to go. Thanks!
I'm an audiobook fan and honestly, doodling while listening is a fantastic idea. I'm not artistic in the graphic arts at all, so I truly just doodle - lines, squiggles and even washi, and it's so relaxing. I hope you find it helpful!
I love these notebook challenges. I finished my morning journal in December...and it covered exactly 3 years! I love that it started out with grieving and burnout and finished with a fresh and renewed vision for my life and lots of excitement and contentment. It's been a long 3 years, but the lessons have been so worth it. Thank you for sharing so much of your journey with us, Sarra. It has uplifted me!
James Burke does A LOT of stream of consciousness doodling in his Hobonichi without adding any mediums. idk if he does anything on Skillshare, but I think you'd LOVE the way he is so free with creativity in his art journaling.
The idea of a shelf full of matching/coordinating journals appeals to me, but I'm also notorious for changing to something completely different when I finish one journal and start a new one.
Yay! The Notebook Challenge is back. I was on a stationery buying ban last year. I only broke my rule once and bought a notebook but then I got two as Christmas gifts! LOL. But I am actually using my notebooks now instead of just hoarding them so I find these videos inspiring.
I found your videos when I started bullet journaling a year and a half ago and was thrilled to find you were also an author. I want to thank you for all of the tools you have given me both in my writing and getting my life in order with planning. You inspire me every day. Thank you for everything ❤
I also like the idea of having a whole shelf of the same type of planters which I have multiples of as well. Really enjoy your videos. Glad you all are going to have your home soon.
I'm a fan of matching notebooks and bookshelves full of them too. Thanks for sharing this month. Glad your life is getting back to a more normal for you.
I’m pleased with the Notebook Challenge being back for this new year. It didn’t really affect me last year but this year I plan to complete a Target Dollar Spot notebook before the year ends; it’ll be about the books I’ve read this year or as much as the notebook can handle for the purpose I got for it. I also got another one lined up if it does happen early and I still have more books to write down. Looking forward to the future! 💛
You always have such great ideas on how to use all the notebooks I tend to gather. I just love giving all the lonely notebooks in the world a loving home! 😁
Absolutely loved this video! You've given me the permission to use multiple notebooks and journals and I don't know why I needed that permission for 38 years, but I absolutely did! My life (& anxiety) is already feeling so much better with figuring out all the various ways I can use my pretty notebooks and planners. I love the Grit & Virtue notebook that you shared with us. Good luck on your health journey - you got this!
Thank you for sharing your notebooks for January. I always enjoy getting new ideas. Adding little doodles to my planner has been a goal of mine. I'm rather doodle-challenged, but it really appeals to me!
I've been watching you for a while and never commented. Watching and listening to your plans with the notebooks overwhelms me. Kudos to you for committing to your writing! 😍
So, so, so glad you guys have found a property and will be moving onto some land. Never worry about having to miss a month. End of year can be total madness with littles as it is. Happy January and keep up the amazing work.
I have so many journals, planners, bullet journals, and notebooks that I have been using regularly for 22 lol all 9 days so far! My goals are to complete them all and get more. Mainly because this year is a mental health healing year and one for growth in my writing
This is my first notebook challenge video since joining the community. I love it! As a teacher and student and mom and writer, organization is so imperative to keeping things operational in my life. Your ideas are inspiring, and that animal crossing hobonichi is so cute!
I love the idea of using a vertical planner as a menu planner. I also have GoodNotes and think I might do the same thing and create a "what I actually ate" journal.
I have been watching your TH-cam videos for a few months now and I have really enjoyed them. I have stories in my head that I would love to write. Don’t have any plans of ever wanting to try to publish them but I would love to be able to write them down and have them make sense. I might let my daughter read one them when I finish writing. Thanks for your educational and inspiring videos.
Best of luck with your health journey! I’m a year older and it gets so much harder to lose weight. Over the summer I started walking 5-10km per day. I feel so fantastic. I know you will feel so great too, Sarra. I’m new to your channel but I love your energy. I feel like I have so much in common with you. Looking forward to your future videos :)
Re: Having the same brand of notebooks lined up on a shelf, used... I'm well on my way! I'm a big fan of the Artists Loft dot grid notebooks (249/192 pages) and have filled up 2, on my way to filling up # 3 at the end of March, and I have these notebooks stockpiled. Also, how exciting about the new memory planner! I'm in a vertical Happy Planner doing something very similar, and this July will mark four years since I started doing it, originally in a horizontal Recollections. Memory Planning has been a journey, and the books get thiiiiccccccck. Expander discs are a godsend! lol
I love the idea of having a bookshelf full of the same Lemome journals! It would be nice to see them in different hues and colorways as you look back through the years 🥰
I've always talked about starting a journal but have found it daunting at times. But this challenge is inspiring and, while I'm late out of the gate this year, I am going to make this happen. I love the affirmations journal idea.
My sister in love gave me a Grit & Virtue and I've been hooked ever since. The manifesto fills my whole soul every time I open it. You'll love it. The pgs are smooth so watch what kind of pen you use. It's not as slick as plum paper but I have had my gel pen smear a smidge. So I use a ball point. Also, I hoard the Denik notebooks cuz how can you not lol the covers feel so good.
I have read Beloved and watched the move. It is definitely a must read. One book that touched me as Black woman is by Toni Morrison as well it’s called The Bluest Eye. Also, I took your advice and using an old planner to write in. Using it to keep track of my mental health.
I have watched your videos for some time now and really enjoy them. I too love all types of notebooks. I finally decided to subscribe to your channel and get notified when you post. Thank you! 😻
Congratulations on finding a new place for your family! As a fellow stationery addict, I adore your notebook challenge videos, because they really inspire me to use the volumes and volumes of paper and ink in my hoard.
On a more personal note, as a fellow cyster who is growing older and is struggling with fertility, I really appreciate how open you are to sharing your life with us. Happy upcoming birthday!
My friends call me Evie too. I love hearing my name after 40 plus years of being the only Evelyn under 80. Love the notebooks too. I'm waiting on my meal planner. But I have 2 other planners and I need to find a gardening planner as I'm starting a garden this year.
I have the book beloved on my wish list so I will make it a point to read it this month too! So happy the notebook challange is back. Happy happy! Love your notebook line up!
If you're not too heavy handed with the water, you can use watercolours with any sketch book. The paper will warp a little, but even the best watercolour paper will warp. If the paper starts to shred, dial back the amount of water. Good luck!
Thanks for the book suggestion. It will get on my soon-to-read staple. And it's nice to see what you can do to make a journal more colourful. I like the idea of the glitter pens. I think I will use more colour in my journals from now on.
I have a happpy planner vertical column I’m using, plus a set of EC petite planners I’m using. Love the EC teacher planner for my homeschooling things. Which will come in handy when we move to a different state that requires more tracking.
Beloved is stunning. Some scenes will break your heart. Great pick. I hope I can read along with you, I’m not sure how that works. I have read the book a very long time ago and I may still have it. Otherwise I’ll reserve it from my library or buy it then gift to my granddaughter when finished.
I love all your ideas for notebooks! I collect and don’t use them because I don’t like my handwriting. I know I need to let it go and enjoy the process.
Congratulations on finding your new home!!!!!! Sending you all the light and love as you and your family venture into that new journey. Love those gel pens, they are the only glitter pens I use because they are the ones I have found to be the most functional! Love the notebooks as always!
Dedicating this year to getting back to myself. I've ran behind on my notebooks thanks to not having both of my off days but this week I'm going to make a conscious effort to set up all my notebooks for the year. Most of the one's I'm using will just be continuations throughout the year. Only will be missing two since I just ordered one and the disc for the other.
The journals Andrew got you for Christmas are so cute and the blank one is pretty cool for anything you want to do in it. Very thoughtful. I'm using a Kiki K for the HB 90 quarter, Erin Condren notebook for taking notes for videos I watch on TH-cam for my plotting notes, a regular 3 ring binder for all my other book related notes, and A5 Ring Agenda also Erin Condren for daily affirmations to help with my motivation and positive energy. I have never read Beloved but it sounds like a really good book. I wrote it down so when I get done reading the ones I'm on I will defiantly be buying this one to read. Loved this video and your planners. Thank you for sharing Sarra
I love to repurpose old notebooks the most recent one I did was a old 2007 diary my gran gave me to use for Christmas. not quite sure what I'll use it for yet but Ill get there eventually.
Enjoyed seeing how you’re using the Happy Planner for some of your health goals. I had never used a HP before but got one for my wellness planner this year. I am trying intermittent fasting so my set up is a little different. I’m using the vertical boxes for food/water, activity, and what I’m calling Growth (gratitude, scripture reading, inspirational stuff). I read Beloved in high school. Can’t say I cared for it but freely admit I didn’t take it as seriously as I should have. Was my senior year so skimmed a lot of it. Should read it again now that I have a masters in English lit. Suffice it to say, I have a much greater understanding and appreciation for different genres. 😉
For diverse reads, Octavia Butler is a great author- Kindred or The Parable of the Sower are highly recommended, but really anything by her is phenomenal!
I have missed your notebook videos. They usually keep me from running out and buying more. Last month, I think I've picked up 3. I need to get Cindy's book!
I love these notebook challenges! I also had an A6 hobonichi that I ended up not knowing what to do with but I started using it with journal prompts. Can't wait to see what you do with yours! :)
I resonate with the idea of having bookshelves groan under the weight of colourful, filled-in journals! Eye candy 🍭 for sure!! An art journal for 2022 is also on my to-do list! 💜 Thank you for this joyful video 🤍 🌬
That notebook is gorgeous! I would love to win it! 💖💖💖 My main "planning" lately has been in a gratitude journal I found at Walmart for around $4. I've been using it as both a gratitude journal and a daily planner, since it has space for 3 daily goals, a to-do list, a schedule, exercise, and meals. For my appointments, I'm using an academic monthly planner set (again from Walmart) which includes a wall calendar and an A5 size booklet. The booklet includes a monthly goal and "Currently" spread for each month, which has come in very handy for mapping out my goals. I put the booklet and two other notebooks into an A5 Webster's Pages travelers notebook. I have 3 Planner Perfect TNs that I have set up for budget, home maintenance, and journaling. For my writing, I have an A5 ring binder that I am slowly filling up with notes on my WIP, characters, etc. I also have converted a "Fauxbonichi" cover into a TN by jump-banding two A5 inserts together, one for blog and TH-cam ideas and the other for journaling about my writing. Lastly, I have a journal that Jaime gave me for my birthday last year that I have designated for my 101 Goals in 1001 Days list. So, pretty big collection this year! lol There are also a few notebooks and another planner I'd like to put to good use, but haven't found uses for them yet. Give me time, though! lol Good luck to everyone entering the giveaway! 😊
I have the same three witchy notebooks that were gifted to me too and I’ve been journaling semi daily in them and they are great! They fit perfect in my American crafts TN covers. The paper is decent and hold up well to inks and tombows.
Always so informative! You have so many good ideas on how to use notebooks! So glad you guys are getting a house soon, i know that has been weighing on your mind. Always a pleasure to watch! Keep up the good work!
That's the EC planner I bought myself for Christmas (and my bf a monogram notebook). The planner I got was hourly, which I never use. The notebook was supposed to be dot grid but came lined. I'm not the type to complain because I don't want anyone to feel bad. Something I need to work on this year!
I love that you are doing the Notebook challenge again. I am happy that you were able to get a replacement planner so quickly for the missing one. Be prepared to cry when you read Beloved! I also recommend anything by Zora Neal Hurston. I especially enjoyed reading "Tell my Horse: Voodoo and Life in Haiti and Jamacai." "Breath, Eyes, Memory" by Edwidge Danticat is also a good read. I love reading, can you tell? I'm starting a reading challenge with myself this year to finally read all of the books over the years that I've said, "I should really read that" about. My list keeps getting longer!
I’m obsessed with notebooks! I have way too many, if there is such a thing. I love nothing more than finishing a notebook. I also can’t throw them away. Lol
Thank you for sharing the journals you plan on using! I appreciate the opportunity to win the giveaway!
Hi Under the Turtle Shell! You are the winner of the January Notebook!! Send me an email at sarra@heartbreathings.com with your full name and mailing address, and I'll get this out next week! Also, just leave a heart or other comment in reply here so I know it's really you, haha. Congrats!!
@@HeartBreathings Thank you!
Every time my husband hears your voice he calls out - “Don’t buy anything” 🤣🤣
I love this 😂
😅😅😅😅😘
😂
😂😂😂 if my husband knew that she’s the reason I’ve purchased all of these planners for 2022, he’d be saying the same thing when he heard her voice 😂😂😂🥳
My fiancé says the same thing lol he just asks me when we are going to Michaels or hobby lobby next when he hears her voice
Welcome back to the January Notebook Challenge! Warning that there is a brief discussion of dieting and weight loss in today's video. I hope your new year is off to a great start!!
I'm recovering from an ED so thank you for the warning! It's very appreciated 🫂💛
Love Beloved. So glad you and others are reading this book. Toni Morrison is such an important American author.
I love that you want to get into sketching and doodling. I got back into watercolor and bought paper and watercolor sketchbooks. My mom was an amazing artist in watercolor so I have a few of her brushes that I use. Hubby bought me traveling brushes and a traveling palette. Sarra, The idea of having completed journals all lined up on a bookshelf TOTALLY resonates with me! It would feel like such a satisfying visual accomplishment to see them lined up on the shelves!!! 🥰
I love the notebook challenge videos. They help inspire me to use my notebooks instead of saving them.
I love the concept and design of the Grit & Virtue Journal. i am happy that Bible verses are included.
I’m using the hobonichi techo for repeating my goals every morning. Been going strong since Jan. 1!
Go you! 🥳👍
Love the idea of combining doodling (or puzzles) with listening to audio books! Beautiful notebooks! 💜💜💜💜💜💜
I think a library of notebooks and journals would be beautiful and awesome! It would definitely pique everyone's curiosity!
I love these notebook challenges. I finished my morning journal in December...and it covered exactly 3 years! I love that it started out with grieving and burnout and finished with a fresh and renewed vision for my life and lots of excitement and contentment. It's been a long 3 years, but the lessons have been so worth it.

James Burke does A LOT of stream of consciousness doodling in his Hobonichi without adding any mediums. idk if he does anything on Skillshare, but I think you'd LOVE the way he is so free with creativity in his art journaling.
Thank you I will look him up!!
I love him!!!
Years from now you'll look back on Evie's stickers and doodles and just smile and smile... happy January!
The idea of a shelf full of matching/coordinating journals appeals to me, but I'm also notorious for changing to something completely different when I finish one journal and start a new one.
I'm glad to see the notebook challenge back. It's one of my top videos to watch every month.
Yay! The Notebook Challenge is back. I was on a stationery buying ban last year. I only broke my rule once and bought a notebook but then I got two as Christmas gifts! LOL. But I am actually using my notebooks now instead of just hoarding them so I find these videos inspiring.

Good to see someone as obsessed with notebooks and journals as I am! I could feel your enthusiasm through the video!

I've been watching you for a while and never commented. Watching and listening to your plans with the notebooks overwhelms me. Kudos to you for committing to your writing! 😍
You will love and be moved by Beloved
All four of the notebooks your son gifted you are gorgeous! What fantastic gifts!
So, so, so glad you guys have found a property and will be moving onto some land. Never worry about having to miss a month. End of year can be total madness with littles as it is. Happy January and keep up the amazing work.

These videos are so satisfying to watch, I hope these notebooks will help you achieve year goals for this year!!
Yes, having a shelf full of the same notebook resonates with me, too. I buy the composition notes for that reason.
Also, happy early birthday.
I love the idea of using a vertical planner as a menu planner. I also have GoodNotes and think I might do the same thing and create a "what I actually ate" journal.
The multiple notebooks all lined up definitely resonates with me... what a beautiful image!
I love the simple yet beautiful spine on the grit and virtue notebooks 😍
I have been watching your TH-cam videos for a few months now and I have really enjoyed them. I have stories in my head that I would love to write. Don’t have any plans of ever wanting to try to publish them but I would love to be able to write them down and have them make sense. I might let my daughter read one them when I finish writing. Thanks for your educational and inspiring videos.
Is it possible to have too many journals or pens? Never! It's great to see you back on track. Happy early birthday, too. Mine is Jan. 25.
Yay!! Notebook challenge is back!! Hope you are liking Texas!!
Best of luck with your health journey! I’m a year older and it gets so much harder to lose weight. Over the summer I started walking 5-10km per day. I feel so fantastic. As always, I love seeing all of your Journals and planner setups!!!
Love notebooks and pens . It's truly a sanity helper.
So happy you found a new place. Looking forward to the notebook challenge.
I have watched your videos for some time now and really enjoy them. I too love all types of notebooks. I finally decided to subscribe to your channel and get notified when you post. Thank you! 😻

I LOVE your idea about having a dedicated notebook for all the courses! I too have several courses waiting for me to dive into!
Love this month's video. You are in for a treat with reading "Beloved."
Love the idea of using the Happy Planner for your food journal!
My friends call me Evie too. I love hearing my name after 40 plus years of being the only Evelyn under 80. Love the notebooks too. I'm waiting on my meal planner. But I have 2 other planners and I need to find a gardening planner as I'm starting a garden this year.

You aren't alone... I would love to have my journals out on a shelf!
So excited for 2022 planning and journaling. One thing I added this year is logging tv/ movie watching
I totally understand wanting shelves filled with notebooks!
I love that idea of having all the colorful books side by side. It would be very satisfying!!
Thanks for the book suggestion. It will get on my soon-to-read staple.
And it's nice to see what you can do to make a journal more colourful. I like the idea of the glitter pens. I think I will use more colour in my journals from now on.
I am SO GLAD these are back to what they were 💜💗
I never thought of using a teacher planner before. That’s a great way to separate the different areas of my life. Thanks for the idea!
Congratulations on the new house. It looked awesome. Love the new notebooks. Good luck with the watercolour.
Very much enjoy your channel. I am not a writer, but appreciate the work and planning that goes into your craft!
Always love to hear how you are using those beautiful notebooks!
I love knowing others love notebooks as much as I do. :)
Love how you’re using all your notebooks. Thanks for sharing.
I have a happpy planner vertical column I’m using, plus a set of EC petite planners I’m using. Love the EC teacher planner for my homeschooling things. Which will come in handy when we move to a different state that requires more tracking.

I'm absolutely going to have to get that Kawaii doodle book for my girls. I can already hear their excitement!
Congratulations on finding your new home!!!!!! Sending you all the light and love as you and your family venture into that new journey. Love those gel pens, they are the only glitter pens I use because they are the ones I have found to be the most functional! Love the notebooks as always!
Congratulations on the new house! A girl can never have too many journals!!
So many pretty notebooks!!!Can't wait to see what else you're going to use this year!!!
Oh the Grit and Virtue journal is beautiful.
That Grit & Virtue notebook is a beauty! I really like the idea of using it to get through your course backlog...I have quite the backlog myself
I LOVE your notebook challenges! Thanks for sharing and can’t wait to see your doodles Xx
Glad you're still doing these, missed the one in December!
Thank you for this joyful video 🤍 🌬
That notebook is gorgeous! I would love to win it! 💖💖💖
My main "planning" lately has been in a gratitude journal I found at Walmart for around $4.
Give me time, though! lol
Good luck to everyone entering the giveaway! 😊
I have the same three witchy notebooks that were gifted to me too and I’ve been journaling semi daily in them and they are great! They fit perfect in my American crafts TN covers. The paper is decent and hold up well to inks and tombows.
I love the Evie stickers! My youngest has his own notebook and sticker pack so that he can "do writing stuff" with me when I do my weekly planning.
Always so informative! You have so many good ideas on how to use notebooks! So glad you guys are getting a house soon, i know that has been weighing on your mind. Always a pleasure to watch! Keep up the good work!
I am newer to your channel but I am excited to see how you use your notebooks and the different notebooks you are using!
Lol
