Mayday parade always reach out to the music community when it needs them most. You can tell Derek is really affected but were all affected together and through the music we all sang with him for taylor. I miss you taylor, we all miss you. You're going to live forever, taylor.
Dave Grohl wrote that drum part and song. He drummer for the entirety of that album. Taylor didn’t drum on every song until One by One. Dave even got co writing credit with Nirvana for using the same drum beat for Scentless Apprentice. Times Like These would of been way more appropriate.
That arcane fun fact aside, I think the message in the lyric, "There goes my hero, watch him as he goes," to be appropriate and, quite frankly, more important than what member in the band wrote it for the album.
@@GillNJ they are paying tribute to him with a song he had zip to do with. Wouldn’t it have been more fitting to even do The Best Of You or something? I know certain people and it’s cringe in the lack of knowledge.

@@thevanillamilkshakes Had zip to do with? Just because he didn't record it, doesn't mean he didn't have anything to do with it. Dude performed it for many years directly behind the guy that did record it. I get pickiness, but I don't find this relevant in any manner. Taylor had all of Dave's respect behind the kit.

He's in the band. He's played the song for years. The message is fitting. Why split hairs? If you feel so passionately about this, you should pass along this insight to Wolfgang Van Halen who is here at Starland tonight and also planning on doing "My Hero" as a tribute to Taylor.

I'm amazed they learned half the song in a day
they're so good at covers I'd love if they recorded it
I wanted more!!

You're missing the whole point of the song? 'my hero' why you think they picked that...

While Dave wrote and played the part on Colour, that part became taylors from 1997 till his death. Stop gatekeeping a tribute asshole
