    Saltburn is one of my favorite films of the year, I loved it! What are your thoughts on the film, or do you plan to see it? Let me know below!

    Spoiler warning ⚠️ Did anyone else catch the foreshadowing to Felix’s death? Soon after Oliver arrives at Saltburn, the family are at the dining table (I think the breakfast scene) and Venetia is telling a story about someone seeing their doppelgänger and then dying shortly afterwards. To which Elsbeth proclaims she has goosebumps and poor dear Pamela woefully replies “Oh noooooo” (hilarious). When Venetia is telling this story, you can see briefly in the window behind her, someone walk by who closely resembles Felix, even wearing the same coloured shirt he is wearing in the scene. It is very brief and the image is blurry but I think this was meant to foreshadow Oliver’s plan to ultimately become his version of Felix by killing him and consequently his entire family. The doppelgänger coming to kill you and take over your life that we’ve seen in the Talented Mr. Ripely and Jordan Peel’s US.

      Yes!!! I noticed this on my first watch and was so confused (fully expecting some horror angle about it) but what we got was so much better

    • @notearthman794
      @notearthman794 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      literally right as they mention the doppelganger at the window he appears at the window! 🤯. what makes it stranger is that the butlers dont wear those kinda clothes. so who is it?

    • @kats4606
      @kats4606 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      ok wow I totally missed this! Thankfully I am going to go watch it again so I can devour this wonderful film all over again!

    • @notearthman794
      @notearthman794 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@kats4606 something else you might have missed are the parrallels between cedric diggory and felix. throughout the film, the characters can be seen reading harry potter 4 which released the year the film takes place.
      cedric is both popular and charming and so is felix and they both DIE IN A GIANT MAZE!
      in an interview the cast where asked which house they would be in if they went to hogwarts. jacob elordi who plays felix said he would be in hufflepuff “the house robert pattinsons character was in”. robert pattinson plays cedric diggory in the harry potter movies. i might be reading into it too much but it cant be a coincidence lmao

    Very interesting. I would point out that the fashion Felix wore wasn’t dated as the film was set in 2006 but it still was supposed to give an air of carefreeness that contrasted the space.

    This is such an awesome new video concept for this channel! It’s like a companion piece to the Explained videos you make with the spoilers. The music changes in each section is a great touch too, love this!

      Omg yeah that’s totally what I was thinking, the explained videos aren’t going anywhere but i was thinking I could add in a non-spoiler discussion like this if I really love the film and find new insights along the way. So happy to hear you loved the music changes as well, thank you!!

    Managed to watch the movie today. When the movie ended, I can't stop thinking about it. It kept me questioning on how clever the storyline is. I didn't suspect the ending at all! I thought it was an unrequited love between Oliver and Felix that will cause heart pain and that will lead to unexpected trauma... Boy, I was pleasantly surprised!

    It’s the perfect movie for me. It’s a movie that’s a fun summer vibe for the first hour and 40ish minutes then it has a satisfying ending with a good twist while sprinkling the small details and symbolism throughout the first half the film that lead to that satisfying ending. There’s films that are a vibe but lack that satisfying ending. Mid90s I would say is the perfect example of a vibe film that has a weak ending.

    I am sick to death of so much analysis of this film. One minute it is a LGBT film, the other a profound look at the rich and those who are not, and in short SHOCKING is in. It has always been in since silent films and now it seems to be the new chic which paradoxically does not make it shocking. What about the beauty of Pasolini's ' Salo ' and Trier's ' Antichrist ' ?
