oh it has passed already another month!
I understand what you say about some places being as they are, some pretty, some ugly, and you taking that shot might not resemble to anything on your work.
What I do, sometimes, is to try some of those as an exercise. How would I frame the basketball hoop or this old car?
Not much because film is getting every day a expensive playground, but it's an interesting 'challenge'.

I like that. I think it's maybe too easy to fall into a groove of shooting a particular subject. Or even shooting at a particular distance, time of day, etc. So it can be useful to try to force yourself to try something new knowing it's probably not going to work. Otherwise you end up making kind of formulaic work.

The democratic for3st is possibly a defining statement of a study of suburbia. There are many great images. I took your advice and am hurtling towards a Leica MA. I can’t imagine how it would feel to have one. Thank you for this video. I’m so glad to watch this on a Sunday morning.

I will keep my eyes out for a repress, have slowly grown to like Eggleston more and more over time. (not immediate in the same way as some of the other greats.)
Have a nice Sunday! And hope your Leica comes soon.

Nice. And Iceland vid coming up? man..
And btw (IMO) it's not at all pretentious to feel challenged in a "pretty" environment. Sometimes it almost feels borderline annoying (oh yeah first world problem dude huh) when I know I'm at a place or with some kinda subject that I could take some regular snaps and get away with it. It really is one of those situations for me that the thought of "Just because I can, does it mean I should?" pops in. Cos I think in the end, what I really want to do is be some kind of intentional with the end result. Not sure if that makes any sense at all or I'm going too much into it, but hey.. you were sharing right? haha.

No I feel pretty much exactly the same. I want to at least come up with a clever concept or pleasant foreground or something. And probably not gonna put it in one of the theoretical books kicking around in my head unless it really works.
