I do think what happened today was unacceptable, violence like this should never be condoned. However, I think it is incorrect to minimise Jan 6 in any way. I agree it is definitely different from some of the other riots, but it was an attempted (arguably successful) armed insurrection of the most important political venue in your country! The very heart of democracy in America. In my view that is absolutely insane and inexcusable - what the protestors might have thought about the election result is irrelevant. I know you said you don’t excuse it and for that I’m glad, but I hope you may potentially revisit your thoughts on that one. I totally agree with what you’re saying about the division in America now, it saddens me greatly. I think a real strength of the space you’ve created with this channel is in the respectful discourse it promotes, which seems to have been lost elsewhere. I’ve been to many different states in the USA and have great admiration for the people there. I hope one day this turmoil is a distant memory.

You must not know what really happened on Jan 6 or what really happened during all the multi years long riots that took place here while Trump was president. There were a few windows broke on Jan 6 in one building. There was BILLIONS of dollars worth of damage done during those years of riots. Police stations burned to the ground, cops shot dead sitting in their cars, many people died and thousands upon thousands of people out of work after their workplaces were burned to the ground. Your "mostly peaceful" words come directly from the media and has been used to show just how biased they are but using the words "mostly peaceful" while showing a city burning to the ground. My friend, this is exactly why it is critiical that you not trust the media too much.
Also you say it was an "armed" insurrection. Not one weapon was present. No one was armed. This is the funny part of people calling it an insurrection. How on earth can you possibly hope to overthrow the government without a weapon.
