Great ifo and review if a different brand. It seems the build quality is there and hey the knife works and that is the purpose of a knife. Glad tou found the T R E E in the woods. Thanks Brian.
Ive ordered one for my boat, after i got a rope round my prop recently. We got it untangled but it looked to me that my usual knife would just tickle it and i wanted something more substantial. Looking forward to trying it on some rope.
That kind of knife is more atleast in my book a commando knife. It is made for only one thing;) I love when you struggling with that ferro rod Bryan, To teach other people you must show them that the teacher fail sometime. That is respect.
Looks just like their duct knife but with a black handle. I found an old Klein duct knife in an attic doing some HVAC work and the handle was chewed up (literally, big rats) but the metal is still really good. I now use it in my garden every day. XD
I think the sheath leaves a little bit more to be desired. If I were to purchase something like this I would probably have my friend make up a kydex sheath for it
A few decades ago, we knew how to use the cutting edge without melting it. Carbon steel, of course. Kabar (soldier) with a Victorinox. Both worked. This knife has applications, but only (to my thinking) as a back-up. Notice NO MENTION in the video or Klein site re: type of (so-called) stainless.
I did not know Klein Tools made knives. The knife is similar in design to a Blackie Collins design dagger and a Gerber. While I'm not a huge fan of serrations unless they are on a steak knife or a mariners rope cutting blade, it is only serrated on 1 side. I would use this as a combat blade without hesitation. I will admit to a bit of shocked surprise when you started batoning that knife through wood, but was glad to see it survived. In the rotational test, we will attribute the bounce back to operator error 🤣 failure to follow proper scientific procedures. 🤣🤣🤣 really nice looking knife, good price, good features, ferro rod included, nice sheath system. I give it a 10/10 it's a keeper
Unfortunately that one's double edged.. which really limits its usefulness as far as I'm concerned.. in Connecticut unfortunately double-edged knives or illegal to carry.. again it also limits certain uses..BUT life does look beautiful so it reminds me of the old SOG brand daggers of the past. I definitely would be interested in it in a single edge
Thanks for your work on the reviews. Probably need a different set of scientific tests for double edge daggers. This is not a bush craft knife. I’d like to see what it can do well and not how well it does when forced into service for a task it wasn’t designed for. Also, please ask which budget steel they are using. Thanks Brian.
Seems to be a confused dagger: blades on both sides. Not set for battening. Good review. I’ll stick with my Parker survival.it’s survived Iran, Iraq, and the Yukon.
Hard not to compare it to the Milwaukee duct knife. Looks like the knife itself is a little bit better made, but the sheath is definitely a downgrade. The ferro rod is the kind of thing that's always a nice inclusion but it's a bit of a head scratcher here because as much as the knife guy in me loves a double edged dagger, it's kind of a terrible shape for bushcraft specifically??? Still sounds like a great buy for the price point.
Nope, a non sharp 90° area on the tooth side is ok, but the fine edge needs to be sharp to the grip for fine work. Price is a good point but can't get past blade starting so far out.
Probably be a decent fighting knife. Outdoors ? Wouldn't work for me. First, I love all my Klein tools. I carry my 5" blade with me 24/7. It serves as a kitchen knife more than anything, but can field dress fish and game or baton. It is designed as a fighting knife, but the important thing is, no double edge, as that is illegal to carry where I live. A serrated edge has it's uses in rescue, but in the field, not so much. I carry a different knife clipped to the outside of my EDC bag. It has a seat belt cutter, 50/50 blade and glass break. If I need to build a fire, I have alternate means of doing so, without having to rely on my main knife. Certainly not sure what use a 7mm wrench is in the US. Must not be made in the US. 1/4" would be much more versatile. While I love my Klein tools, I also love my Spyderco, Mora, Leatherman, Cold Steel and Boker knives. Not a fan of the "Rambo knife". But for less than 20 bucks, might be an OK addition to my collection. Thanks for your video though.
I believe that was the sorriest piece of wood you've ever chose to do a knife test. But hey, that's a real world test where maybe that perfect piece isn't available.
1st I’m from NJ it’s a double sided knife, which makes it a dagger…. This is a 2C law violation….. so unfortunately, as good as it can be …I’m out…welcome Mora or Gerber or Ka-Bar…. But daggers are NG here. Second it’s not good for batoning …double edge
SOP… we are trying…. Conservatives are doing their best in the God forsaken blue state with Murphy as our Governor! He’s a total blue check mark liberal leftist!
Good luck finding one. I had an alert set up with H. Depot for when they came back in stock. They notified me and I tried to order two. Then they cancelled my order. Of course there's crapbay but I refuse to pay three times retail plus crap shipping. FTW.
cheaper blade material stainless steel , the sheath screams of made in china , Considering Klien tools are made in USA . IMO not for me for bush craft . But it is cheap
No, this Klien tool is made in China. Just like Craftsman wen from Made in USA to made in China, but everyone kept saying they were great because of their history. History means nothing over time, company owners change hands, company quality varies from decade to decade.
It is just a re-marketed duct knife. Klein Tools Serrated Duct Knife Model # DK06|Store SKU # 1001643456 Not an outdoor knife at all. Made in China. Still, the coolest knife at a hardware store.
Your honesty about your sponsors is much appreciated. Hat's off to you !
I see no reason to be sneaky about it. I’m not ashamed of getting paid for my time.
Always interesting and informative content. You always provide full disclosure. You work hard. Thank you. Keep it up!
I appreciate that!
In the UK and America this knife is sold as a Duct Knife.
I bought one for defence purposes. It's much more suited to that than survival or bushcraft.
Just heard you mention the duct knife stuff 👍
Been using these for camping, out here in the desert. One for protection and one as a kitchen knife out on the trails...
A real-world test if I ever saw one.
Great ifo and review if a different brand. It seems the build quality is there and hey the knife works and that is the purpose of a knife. Glad tou found the T R E E in the woods. Thanks Brian.
Klein tools also makes a few pocket knives and been around longer than other brands and still around. Made in the USA can be ordered at Home Depot.
Knife is made in China.
A buddy of mine owns a blackfire knife like that. They look prety good to me
Finally gets out of the backyard ..
Finally!
The rebranded duct knife.
Ive ordered one for my boat, after i got a rope round my prop recently. We got it untangled but it looked to me that my usual knife would just tickle it and i wanted something more substantial. Looking forward to trying it on some rope.
Good review Brian , thanks for sharing , God bless !

I just keep failing until I succeed Magnus. It is good to hear from you.
Seems well suited for gizzard removal, When used in conjunction with the saw, suitable for even the most difficult Gizzard removal tasks.
It'll get 'em.
Looks just like their duct knife but with a black handle. I found an old Klein duct knife in an attic doing some HVAC work and the handle was chewed up (literally, big rats) but the metal is still really good. I now use it in my garden every day. XD
Yes it does.
Thanks Bryan for the review. I think I will stick with my bushcraft knives; maybe this one would be better for self defense.
Works great for both out in the desert!
I think the sheath leaves a little bit more to be desired. If I were to purchase something like this I would probably have my friend make up a kydex sheath for it
Great price for a Klein tool.🙂
A good tool or tackle box knife for less than $20 dollars is a decent deal, the ferro rod is probably worth $3-5 dollars.

It is for duct work. They just added a black handle and re-marketed it. Still, coolest knife in a hardware store. lol
How is the knife holding up since you have had it a year now. ? And do you use it often?
Huh looks like a bigger cheap version of the sog pentagon. Kinda cool. Thanks for the video.
It would make a good digging knife for metal detecting …

My brother, where does it come from and what kind of steel?
I am sure it comes from somewhere far away over the western horizon where they write with little pictures. And the specs just say "stainless".
whiskey papa, made with G11 Stainless Steel and comes from overseas.
Check out the Bahco Wrecking knife for another unbreakable unit of a knife for a low price (the 'curved' version is more bushcraft)
Don't know that I'd use it for an outdoor knife. But looks like pretty good little knife for the price.
Seems to be a confused dagger: blades on both sides. Not set for battening. Good review. I’ll stick with my Parker survival.it’s survived Iran, Iraq, and the Yukon.
Help! I survived on accident what do I do?
Buy a lottery ticket

Which is better Klein or Milwalkee?
Yes
What does Yes mean?@@SurvivalOnPurpose
It means both are good. Hard to say which is better.
“ It is a sheath”
Can you cut the rubber off the handle so I can see if it's worth buying? 👌
Hmm, we'll see.
At that price, there's not much in a handle that would be a deal breaker
That is a klein fiberglass duct knife. Should always be less than 25 bucks also Malco and hilmore duct knives have the same blade.
Nice looking knife and thank you for the video .
Is this available in the UK do you know ? 🇬🇧
I've just had a quick search,,, can't find them anywhere over here,, 🇬🇧
I don't know.
Rog T, unfortunately the knife is only available in the US and Canada
Not good feathering material, but probably good for making charred punk wood…
Looks like the Milwaukee duct knife
Nope, a non sharp 90° area on the tooth side is ok, but the fine edge needs to be sharp to the grip for fine work. Price is a good point but can't get past blade starting so far out.
Different strokes.
You should test the FLAME THROWER on that knife just saying
Looks like pecan wood
Could be

I do respect you for some faults.
Klein is no longer about quality. I’ve been a licensed electrician for 16 years and they are not what they used to be.
Agree 100%

Nothing good to say, do not say. Just sayin.
Why I’m telling the truth… in this state it’s illegal… if you can’t handle the truth… oh well!
That is a shame. The NJ freedom lovers need to get politically active and take their state back.
SOP… we are trying…. Conservatives are doing their best in the God forsaken blue state with Murphy as our Governor! He’s a total blue check mark liberal leftist!
Geez, would it be asking too much to tell us the length, steel, and price, for Christ's sake?
This knife is the EXACT COPY CAT OF MILWAUKEE DUCT KNIFE !!! SO FUNNY !!!!
I'm not sure which one came first. Duct knives have been around a long time
Your fire technique is not efficient, put pressure on the out stroke not the stroke towards you
And yet…
US Army. You can do. Way. Better. Case. Sucks. Your choice. Hooah
Too many true Bushcraft knives. Why spend any money on the Blackfire. Maybe as a third choice or collector's item.
Its junk
Wrong tool wrong job
Good luck finding one. I had an alert set up with H. Depot for when they came back in stock. They notified me and I tried to order two. Then they cancelled my order. Of course there's crapbay but I refuse to pay three times retail plus crap shipping. FTW.
Oh wow!
Made in Taiwan 😢
