There's only one rule... Brendan Shanahan always gets benched
The first hockey game I owned for Sega Genesis. I loved this game as a kid and still think it holds up fairly well.
This was the third year and culmination of EA recycling thier Hockey engine making modest improvements annually.
This NHL 94 is the "greatest hockey game ever" talk is nonsense though. Hell it was comfortably eclipsed by NHL 96 and in some ways NHL 95.
Regardless of what I think the reality is NHL 94 is widely considered the best sports game of the 16-bit era let alone hockey game.
In fact NHL 94 still gets yearly updates with updated rosters, teams/logo's etc.
I am probably a little jealous because there are other 16-bit sports titles that I think deserve that kind of support as well. - เกม
Good to know that someone out there also believes '94 is overrated. Even back in the day, I would argue with my friends about which was the superior game, '94, '95, or '96.
I will always tell people 96-98 were the best. Seems people who could care less about the game or have never played it will parrot it as one of the best Genesis titles 🤨
That's what happens when some key influencers "put it over".
@@supersexysega I actually never played '97 or '98. I was already on to PlayStation and it's (kinda terrible, in retrospect) 3-D sports offerings... Other than FIFA, those on PS1 were actually the very best soccer games ever made.
@@retroprojections I had moved on as well after the 96 editions. I only played the later sports games as I got into collecting. NHL 97/98 use the same engine as 96 so I group them all together.
