whats going on bro! amazing content thank you!! So im using typescript for an MVP im shipping, do you reccomend taking the time to do a course since i've only used JS/React in the past? I also have experience for over a year. I just dont want the learning curve to eat into the progress of my dev time to build features for my MVP.
Hey Jacob. Great videos but I personally would love to hear the other side of the story briefly too which is the part about how you sustain your life in NYC without having a full-time job. I think it'd be quite beneficial for a lot of people to understand how things work if they have the dream of building a start-up without having a job but still being able to make a living. E.g. is this "dev hackathon" helping you out financially or are you currently getting paid by kiki? I think that part is a little confusing so it'd be amazing if you could give us some insight on that. Cheers!
Congrats on the insane fast build of your startup! Very inspiring to see your progress for someone who is learning react and wanting to build their own products. Keep it up
Man your timing is amazing....i just opened youtube to watch your video for motivation....by the way ...please make a video on what topics are to be understood in javascript before jumping onto react and typescript along with next.....
This is such a great video. I am a ar/vr dev in unity/ art-technologist and i just love love love your videos. I literally wait on them to come out. This video here and the build break down really makes me want to have the skill set of full stack dev. I just love your breakdown of the way you solve problems you love it so much that the way you talk about it comes of poetic to me lol. Keep up the good work we are watching you and supporting from afar whether you fail or not.
Man o man, you give me such a motivation to build as well. This idea is out of this world and literally so useful! Excited to see you building this, good luck!
almost 30 minutes that didn't feel at all! Nice vid man keep up the grind, you're on the path to be a hugeeeee content creator just for the amazing things that you show up and teach to everyone here! Hope the launch goes perfect!
I just checked it out and I think its amazing! The idea is perfect and I hope it does well! I'm a junior in high school and I'm learning Next.js in my mobile applications class and this definitely gave me a lot of motivation. Thank you and keep up the insane work!
I really love this channel and what Jacob has come up with, this man has really inspired me to flex my idea muscles and start building, I have 2 big project ideas because of you. Cheers mate, keep on going🌠
One big question: How do you handle EU payment? Basically all EU countries would have the tax included in the price i as a creator would choose there and the user would also pay the price i choose there, while in the US it would the tax on top(?). It also would be nice to set a certain date as payment interval. Because it's much easier for tax purposes to have a single big "i got X€ on the 1. of the month" position in the report.
Juat a suggestion, but when soft deleting just have a column that says isDeleted instead of checking a column to see if a date is null or not. With the isDeleted column you are being explicit as well as using the appropriate tool for the job. If you need to keep the most recent date for a user then the column updatedAt should do the trick. Great video though!
I'm wondering how did you do the types from nestjs with swagger. Can you share some article or documentation for it? I also want to connect my nestjs types to nextjs front end
Hey mate, I love your videos and been watching them for a while now. It's so interesting for me as a student to follow your process of shipping products. Big thumbs up from me in Denmark🤩
I am 13 year old and want to learn full stack, ur videos make me motivated man, I cant believe that my eyes what I have just saw. Such a great app man. All the he best for your future man. Love from India.🎉❤
This is super cool! It would be awesome if the live version has a tier payment option: we can create segments and allow subscribers to decide what freemium option they want
I was trying to place your accent and then you said 'if you're a div' instead of 'if you're a dev' 😂 NZ! Awesome content, loving these build process vlogs - so much value! ❤🇳🇿🥝
Probably not even close to the coolest thing in the project, but your marketing page looks amazing! Love the effect that flips through the different platforms (Discord, Telegram, etc.).
Hey Jacob for your database, do you pay postgres money to keep your data for your Saas? Im trying to figure out which one would be best for my foundation! Since Im planning to do my own Saas in the future(in 5 months) just like you!!😅
Really love your progress! Just wondering, did you talk to other creators prior to building the platform? Being the user of your own product is a big plus, but having only one data point could be risky. I am also an engineer, so I totally understand the urge to prioritize building. Wish you luck with the startup, wanna see you succeed!
I'm going to move to a rural apartment that I own in a small town. I've been living in the city for almost a year and half paying rent, and renting that rural house for not more than 15-25% than the rent I'm paying in the city. Obviously I have to work a lot to sustain myself, also because of my country regulations(Cuba) it's not easy to have a good long term job with contract and so on, so basically I've been jumping from project to project not always increasing my salary/benefits. Rn I'm in a burnout of working fast paced until the point code quality/good practices is absolutely discouraged. I've been thinking of going full solo for a while now. These videos inspire me a lot although our life conditions are so different.
I assume you will abstract the service's APIs (Discord, WhatsApp, ...), so that you just need to connect each via that "abstraction layer" instead of rewriting half of your app for each service. I don't have a lot of experience with such things, so I'm curious to see how you handle this, and how much of a struggle this could end up being.
This is super awesome I and every other dev dream of doing this! But I must ask why are you writing your back end in TS I am familiar with nestjs. I just don't see how writing your back end in TS makes any kind of sense maybe someone can take the time to explain why it may or may not be a good idea
Right now, all the member ship apps, like subbb which works on Discord and whop focus on themes that men like. Discord is cool but let’s be honest, most women don’t use Discord. I think you should integrate something like twitter communities or instagrams equivalent (if they have one). That way, you’d be the only service that integrates with a platform with a large female audience. You’d also want the platform to be friendly/cutesy too, but you could absolutely own that market. Just a thought.

if you build it with passion it is no hussle - because it will come naturally. You're an inspiration buddy! keep it up!
“Hosted on the platform your audience already love.”

Small things like that matter a lot imo

You're my idol when it comes to discipline, hard work, content and positivity. Thanks man for everything. love your videos!
Finally my favorite moment, new videos of Jacob!!!

Broooo this is soooo legit! Love how simple the UI is. UX has to be A+. Well done!
Yoooooo legend! Appreciate that ❤️💪🏼
Studying while watching your video is relaxing for me
Great video as always! I like when you show your code and you explain it!
This is so good Jacob build first then iterate learnt from you
What a great mvp, proud of yo jackob, great videos and great vibes

I appreciate this form of conveyance. I aspire to be consistent in web-developments and framework expectations.
love these longer videos! Keep it up beast💪❤
Good luck Jacob with your project. Loved you showing the code and what each segment did. Stripe is king, paypal is poo poo.
Why didn't u use server actions instead of nestJs for backend?
I like nestjs
@@JacobSucksAtCodesick I’ll try it out for my next build

You can use @openapitools/openapi-generator-cli in your nextjs project 😁

This project is amazing.
WOW MAN I LOVED THIS IDEA
As someone who knows fuck all about coding. It's so interesting how writing stuff makes a Web page look so smooth.
watching me this made me enjoy my knowledge
Super cool, i'm using the same tech stack, love it!
Great to witness the process! Let's come back to this statement 27:05 in a year :)
Sorry, if I’m not on track, but, what happened to repobear? The website just returns a 403. Is it discontinued?
Yep paused and refunded all preorders. I talked about it a few videos ago :)
I Spent 30 years in NYC, and I've never seen the city and offices so empty. Congrats on the launch

Just deployed tiers today!
@@JacobSucksAtCode whohoooo! Will use it for my community and suggest it to my wellness app client too.

How do you design a theme bro? I love your UI design.I m even still struggling to make a button look pretty :(
another video of jacob very hype!🙌. keep up the work man!
Awesome video as always! Hey Jacob, how did you learn backend development? Was it from prior experiences?
this is sick , I want to make something like that , can you share what tech stack did you use for this
Do you also integrate responsive design for your webapps? I starting with that, but find it hard.
Probably not even close to the coolest thing in the project, but your marketing page looks amazing! Love the effect that flips through the different platforms (Discord, Telegram, etc.).

Appreciate it!
integrate CMS for dynamic content management (ex: sentry or wordpress)
working that dev muscle getting a few reps in 5 days a week!
This is really cool, the ease of user for me

Yoo Jacob what would you advice a new learner like to go and learn coding from like which app ❤

great work, kindly drop some tutorials for beginners to learn your stack
What do you use to record your videos and what is the microphone you use?
DJI Mic 2

Why wouldn’t you write it in TS??
Where is your backend hosted?
Love the UI!
Is that a tailwind theme?
Idk, but i like to watch your videos, i get motivation from u. You are the best
First time watching your videos, I'm also a SaaS founder, you have a good product here!
love the build, its aesthetics and the implementation of the idea ♥♥
---
Can I ask why you chose nestjs over Nextjs API routes?
I’ve been using nest js for a while and also it’s super cool for microservice type structures 😎
How did you build the landing page and the sign up flow? Was that all custom written by you or did you leverage some existing code somehow?
Custom!
hi Jacob, just wondering if you want to university and got a degree and if so do you think it is worth it in order to be a software engineer.
Welcome to the Anter program! I'm a port-co in Aus. 👋
Have you tried drizzle instead of prisma for the backend?
A little!
The second link isn't a good idea. You have the event with a user having purchased XYZ, why not have a job that checks if the user is in the server?
I will have that shortly hahah. This is just the MVP so I could launch this week ❤️
@@JacobSucksAtCode Let me know if you need someone on the team ;)
#worktheDevMuscle! Great vid Jacob, keep it up. Been watching for a while now, landed my first dev role, starting in 2 weeks. Stoked!
Nice work!
everything is perfect
prefect quality
perfect programmer

prefect video at all
Hahaha
Hey Jacob, what ui library did you use in this project and do you write tests?
No tests. Mostly custom + shadcn
Jacob, why did you choose "subbb" as the name of the app? I'm just curious😊
Cause it’s cool 😎
Another sick video! Love the idea of Sub, and building community on tools they already use. Totally resonated with me!❤️🙌🏼👊🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!
Do you use microservices architecture on your projects??
Kinda
The rate of the way ur views go per second is crazy 😂❤
Hey , jacob I learned some basic of programming one month before but now i can't remember what I had learned...?
You gotta practise daily
This is so cool. Keep it up!
Such a great UI 😁
Is it gonna be available in South Africa?
Yep!
you're pretty good at coding for someone who sucks at it
