    What was the worst thing you put your hair through recently?

    • @katharina456

      Actually… hair soap 😂 Even when following up with an acid rinse my hair was horribly greasy, stiff and so NOT what the manufacturer promised. So after 5 weeks of really wanting it to work I cut it out and went back to my regular (organic) hair wash and conditioner. But well… different strokes for different folks, I’m sure it works for other people and other hair types.
      Thanks for the review - I had actually considered looking into it, so now I know it’s not worth it. 😊

      Neutrogena T-Gel. I liked it at first, but over time I noticed that it started to cause breakage at the hairline. Too drying. Now I just use Zinc Pyrithione shampoo and aldi rinse off conditioner and spray conditioner

      @@DoctorAnne hair care isn’t my thing but from what I have seen, zinc pyrithione can be helpful for hair growth. I think it might be regulated in Europe though because it isn’t really in Head & Shoulders and other OTC brands here. They use Piroctone Olamine, which isn’t well studied. I buy from the UK. Selenium sulfide can actually cause hair loss so that I avoid. Neutrogena was just way too harsh, maybe fine for infrequent use but I do need to shampoo daily. Still regrowing hairs at the front which are like half the length because of it

    Wow, I guess I'm the outlier here. I have had GREAT effects with it. I have old, fine, colored hair. I do very little heat styling so I do not believe it is damaged. But as I've gotten older my hair has gotten that "crispy" look. I use the 8-second water once a week and love the results. My hair looks and feels "younger" it's bouncier and smoother. The first few times it heated up a little bit... now it literally gets "hot" don't know if that was a difference between batches. At least in Italy it's not very expensive, and it must be popular because the shelf is empty every time I go get more. When they appear I grab two or three bottles so I never stay without. Thanks for sharing your experience Dr. Anne! - so sorry it didn't work for you, too. Ciao from Italy, L

    Different product but I quite liked the Loreal "no haircut cream:. My hair is very fine and can gets quite frizzy and puffy at the ends (probably need a trim lol) but it really helped and didnt make my hair greasy at all however the scent was incredibly nauseting and overpowering and it actually put me off using it and I normally love scented products.
    In general though I don't believe any hair product can fix your hair, the hair is dead anyway, I think we should all look to hair products to make our hair look and feel better and not with any expectation that it's going to heal or fix anything. Those things will come from the inside: your diet, hormones, nutrition. If you wish to heat style your hair, style in a way that is damaging to your roots or lengths or bleaching it, you should accept the fact its going to damage your hair and these products will only help to mask that damage. And the thinner your hair is naturally the bigger risk you are taking as the damage is always more visible.

    • @DoctorAnne
      @DoctorAnne  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Completely agree with you there, you can't expect a product to repair your hair, and you have to accept that what you do to your hair adds up. I occasionally heat style, my hair is bleached, it is thin - no product will make it thick and long and shiny.
      I do find that Olaplex help mitigate the damage done by the bleach though.

    I tried it, really liked the warming effect and the smoothness that resulted BUT... AND A BIG BUT... my super thick hair fell out like crazy and now months later (after only a couple of uses) I'm dealing with extreme thinning to the point that it looks like I have balding areas now. I believe this product definitely damaged my follicles. I had labs done to make sure it wasn't health related and everything was good. Just use caution when using this. Maybe just apply to the ends and NOT your scalp.

    My highlighted dyed hair feeling like straw was transformed back to how more my once lovely thick, wavy/curly use to be except concerned about the long range effects, and taken back by the overwhelming amount of alcohol and fragrance which also irritated my eyes. Hence, why I am here. This video convinced me I need to find a better product though I have wasted money trying so many without luck. I don't use flat irons but very seldom. Wasn't dying my greying hair often til it was UGH. But did 6mo ago do a bayalage then many months later had color correction done. I tried it last night and was very happy with the product with one exception, the smell/fragrance is just so so so so strong as to be almost objectionable. However I have gray fine hair and increase the Schein factor by 100% and was weightless so it’s a love hate relationship from the get-go. Since I don’t have color treated hair I’ve been reluctant to spend the money for the Ola Plex which is designed specifically for color treated hair so perhaps the L’Oreal is my best option although I do understand there is a Redken, Garnier, and not your mothers brand as well probably others too. Will I use it again? Yes. Well I try other brands that are less fragranced? Definitely. But the technology works well for gray hair which does not reflect light very well so you get shiny without oil, an important option for me.

    • @DoctorAnne
      @DoctorAnne  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh yes, my grays (that are also way more unruly than the rest of my fine blonde strands) are definitely less shiny, so I can understand that if you are grey, it has a great impact. The scent is very strong indeed though.

    What drugstore products (I'm on a budget) can I use that are really healthy for my hair? My hair is curly and on the dry side, coarse and freezy. I keep seeing vlogers that recommend all these awesome natural shampoos that are great for the hair, but theiy're either not available in my country (Romania) or they're way too expensive for the local economy.😅 I find it hard to pick a hydrating/conditioning shampoo or conditioner for my coarse hair when all I can afford are brands like Garnier, Elseve, Pantene, who's products are mostly only having a visible effect if they're packed with silicones.

    • @DoctorAnne
      @DoctorAnne  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think I am the right person to ask here, I would always pick a silicone conditioner over anything natural, and my favorite hair care (outside Olaplex) is Garnier or Le Petit Marseillaise.
      The main function of a shampoo is to clean your scalp and of a conditioner to make your hair smooth so it doesn't break when you comb through it.

    • @monio.9444
      @monio.9444 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DoctorAnne Thank you for the answer. I always thought that if there's silicone in it, it will be bad for your hair in time, especially if you don't use a special clarifying shampoo.

    • @DoctorAnne
      @DoctorAnne  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@monio.9444 You are referring to the silicone buildup, I assume? I am not a hair specialist, but I don't follow that theory. Different silicones work differently on the hair, as they are a huge group of substances, but they will not prevent nourishment for your hair and lead to more damage done in the long run. If your hair is fine, using the wrong ones might weigh it down, but that is the worst scenario I can imagine.

    • @monio.9444
      @monio.9444 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DoctorAnne Yes that is what I was worried about cause everyone talks about how dimeticone especially builds up on the hair and doesn't allow hydration to get through and makes your hair brittle. I even saw a hairstylist saying that cocout oil has a similar effect.

    • @DoctorAnne
      @DoctorAnne  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@monio.9444 Well, first of all you don't want hydration aka water in your hair, that is what makes it frizzy. And secondly: No, I don't agree with that. What makes hair brittle (other than poor nutrition at the scalp and genetics) is bleach, heat and repetitive brushing without smoothing layer.
