its truly cruel and heartbreaking that akira toriyama did not get to see the proper ending of dragon ball i know he already ended z a long time ago, but with super and so many new retcons, obviously a new ending was to come, maybe a better, heart touching one. either way, toriyama didn't get to end his series for good and that's extremely sad. rest in peace, sir

I think you are misinformed. Akira toriyama didnt make those stories, he just comes up with ideas and toei makes the stories. GT he had NOTHING to do with, not even a slight inkling. The only reason toriyama even gave toei ideas is cause after the dragon ball live action movie, he hated that movie so much he decided to have more control over creative ideas. so toriyama was trying to fight against the stupid things you are talking about.
1 - Yes, he did designs for GT but everything else was Toei. 2 - Lady Red is stupid and his worst manga, but that was during DB's serialization when he was very busy. 3 - After DB's serialization he made a lot of great manga like Kajika, Cowa, SandLand and Jaco The Galactic Patrolman. They are very far from mediocre!

Akira is an inspiration for me. I love stories of of cartoonist hitting it big.
Sometimes I'll be watching/reading a new show and I'll be like, "yeah I can see all these ideas stemming from Toriyama's influence"
Now I want to create a manga knowing that Akira Toriyama has made one that impacted the whole world.
