Sailor Moon is one of my all time favorites and it got me into anime, which changed my whole life pretty much. Sailor Mercury was always my favorite and I didn't know these things about the author's past (the references to gemstones, jewelry and all that make so much sense now). Great video ^_^.

Aside from being a spouse of Sailor Moon's Naoko Takeuchi, Togashi is also a big fan of Keyakizaka46 (now Sakurazaka46) where Silent Majority was inspired from the group's 2016 debut single and of course its former member, Yurina Hirate. Last year, Jump Comics released a Jump MV for HxH using Sakurazaka46's Start Over as theme song.

“At a low place” doesn’t mean poor. Having a job doesn't mean she had good friends, which is what that quote is about. But also, parents who owned a jewelry shop and a job as a pharmacist don't really indicate wealthy... That's more likely middle class, especially in the 80s.

I don’t think having a secure upbringing makes her “rich” and it doesn’t really influence her career. If it had greatly it would be obvious like a trump situation. This is a case of right time and place. In those days yes these things were popular but the demand was so great any career in the industry would have been taken to succeed if it was a good enough idea. We even saw this with men in the tech industry. People without college degrees and any real experience in the early 90s had these amazingly successful careers simply because of the demand. Not because they were necessarily the best person for the job. However I think it’s unkind to minimize the success of a woman like this and her career and reduce it to being rich and her education. The truth is she came up with a very feminist and forward thinking comic in a time where there wasn’t one. She took a group of beautiful women and made them friends and acknowledge all aspects of supporting one another. She made the protagonist a whiny and unlikable baby just to show there is a growth arc and anyone can be strong if pushed to it. She did a lot with this writing that has nothing to do with the work referenced in this video and that is the true celebration of the comic series. How she did a female underdog arc type that we hadn’t seen much before in this way. It was mostly men. So in that she was a true genius and it doesn’t matter how rich she was (like JK Rowling, that’s a example of rich to richer) This is an example of middle class to rich. Owning or operating a jewelry store doesn’t make someone rich… on the contrary. You have to move a lot of product to make tons of money which isn’t necessarily something that happens, and if you watch the series you see that she obviously references herself and how she had to use that as social currency to make friends, offer discounts and sales for the business to thrive with her parents and work at the store. Little gems we didn’t realize before now but kind of cool afterwards not to mention the moon make up compacts she design as a jewelry designing background. Her work is a culmination of her life and that’s what any good writer does. They write what they know and she was again a genius in that way.

I get its a girl power series but seeing this with horrible thai dub. I grew up hating this. The sheer amount of hate on men or making them look bad in many roles and positions, even ,in a 'good' way like mamoru being 2-3 years older in the relationship and drawing usagi naked to sailor mars relationship with her dad, and hotaru replacing her dad with haruka papa(don't hate hotaru for this, but the plot)i could go on and on. I can never like sailor moon but can see why people do.

Well that explains why she half-assed the entire manga after the Dark Kingdom arc. She had no reason to write competent stories.

I haven't seen anyone point this out, so to clarify: The first chapter of Sailor Moon appeared in the February 1992 issue of Nakayoshi, which was released on December 21, 1991 - not one month before the anime premiered, but rather a little over two months. (Still a very small timeframe!)

Thank you I try not to pry into others lives no matter how much I adore what to give to Humanity. Her more than average lavish upbringing definitely could have played into her art style. You don't have to be rich to appreciate some of them harder things to acquire in life 😉 °~•☆.•~° Besides if it wasn't for that bringing & her parents willingness to nurture her creativity while growing up, we might not have Sailor Moon today! I don't want to imagine a world without Sailor Moon 🌙.○~°

I was in junior high school when i first watched sailormoon, and felt happy everytime it was shown on tv.

I'm sorry. But most mangakas I read about had a BA apart from being a comic artist. It seems to be normal in Japan. Also whether she came from a rich family or not you need to practice a lot to have that level of talent in the expressions background and storytelling etc. Everybody that draws know this. This information seems to be illll intended

Here some fun facts about Sailor Moon: Usagi is supposed be fat and called Chotto Debu Her name means Rabbit of the moon and her blanket with moons and rabbits is a reference to her name Her hair are supposed be pink but it changed so it’s passed to her daughter Chibiusa Naoko is a fan of the fashion and that explains there is cool designs like Usagi’s dress Usagi’s family is based on Naoko’s own family She considers Tuxedo Mask like her great man Chemistry was a great tool to her manga

Thank goodness he is still around and I hope he takes it more easy. It was tough loosing talented people like Kentaro Miura and Akira Toriyama. Yuyu hakusho till this day is my most favorite anime of all time.

Don't care about her privileged upbringing, I am just thankful the paths she took in her life led her to creating Sailormoon. I was in my early teens when it came out and I am thankful. My favourite was Mercury... and Jupiter.

I'm from Mexico and to be honest with you, Goku's voice from the US sounds better than the Japanese one, even though it sounds like he's going to the bathroom to do his business, but no one beats the voice of Goku from Mexico and his voice actor Mario Castañeda, yes. If he played Goku in Japan or the US, everyone would be speechless at such epicness. The redeeming thing about the US version are the background themes like those from Cell and the Metal Cooler movie, they are too epic than the Japanese versions.

But most important of all that I’m glad he got to do what he’s set out to do from the start I’m happy for him hopefully that he can be able to finish hunter x hunter on his own terms how he wants to end his magnum opus

I don't have nostalgia for sailormoon it's kinda new to me , i have just read the whole manga, such a great story great characters I'm not that much into anime because of the pacing of some series but , I think I'm gonna give it a try to both versions of the anime adaptation

Watched sailor Moon in the 90s❤ Sailor Mercury was my favourite. It made me love Japanese things now im a Japanese teacher.

I want to end my series by my own terms as well, at least with my short-running series. My long-running series, on the other hand, will just be passed down to the next generation.
