I’m so glad you loved Bright Young Women! I’m a Chi Omega, the sorority that was attacked by Ted Bundy. So I’m dying to read this, and I know I’ll be so emotionally impacted by it. My little in my sorority just finished it and she said there were little nodes to Chi Omega culture, and I love that so much. ❤
I had an arc of one of the good guys and gave it 5 stars I loved it - but I think the biggest issue is marketing it as a mystery thriller when it's very much general fiction with a tiny lil mystery undertone but mostly just contemporary fiction
Hearing you say our kind of cruelty felt like a dream. That was literally like the 3rd book I read when I started reading in 2021 and I can’t remember it whatsoever now I may reread it.
I’m so glad that you read Bright Young Women. It was hands down my favorite book that I read last year, I constantly recommend it to people - it was so well written and an important read.
I love these 3 Thriller Videos! Definitely want to read Bright Young Women soon. I recently read One of the Good Guys, and like you I really enjoyed Parts 1 and 2, but found all of the mixed media in Part 3 to be a bit much. I still gave it 4 stars though lol.
everything about Bright Young Women was so well-said and I'm pissed I've put it off for this long but I'll def prioritize it next month & watch your liveshow back!
I'm glad you had breakfast with your mom and Olive Garden with your dad. Tell Rachel for me happy belated birthday plz. Also tell her that parsley tea is good for her kidneys and corn hair is also. 😊
I absolutely loved Bright Young Women. I loved Pamela's timeline the best. I graduated from FSU in 1989. My freshman roommate in the dorm joined Chai Omega and I used to go with her to the sorority house to study. I was also a senior in 1989 when "the defendant was executed. His execution was actually broadcast on the radio. I remember sitting in my apartment in Tallahassee listening to the radio when his life ended. This book brought back to life how horribly women were still treated in the 70s. The interactions with the police just made me angry. This book brought out so many emotions in me. I am so glad she focused on the women and not "the defendant." This book was definitely one of my favorites of all time. 5 stars for sure.
I ❤️ your reading vlogs. Love the bits where you're driving and we get to see the surroundings. Couldn't finish watching this one, however, because of the way Bright Young Women reminds me of the sickening misogyny in this world that is alive and well and will never end. I'm glad young women are reading these books, though, and it's so important that they are talked about, especially by people with lots of influence such as yourself. Thank you. 😊
Hey Gabby - Interesting though I still can't give myself over to this new idea that anger is good. tbh - I spend a lot of my time trying to help people get past their anger issues, but who knows? Maybe there are positive aspects to anger, i.d.k. The thing is often angry people tell me they have trouble sleeping, they have bad dreams, they feel lonely and alone, et cetera, but maybe it's something else. Hope you're doing well, and have been really enjoying these presentations.
The New Couple in 5B-sounds about right from a Lisa Unger novel. Your reaction was how I reacted to Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six: some pointless POVs, some boring part, some really good parts! 😝
Really enjoyed the video!! I'm so glad you enjoyed Bright Young Women too!! Cannot wait for the book trop discussion later today!!😍 (Btw once again I'm completely in love with the scenery and the music of your vlogs, always so inspiring and comforting 💕)
PSA Kathy Kleiner Rubin, one of the two women who survived the sorority attack, published a memoir back in October in case anyone wants to read her story and how she moved passed that night and court trial 🖤🖤🖤 I also really want to read Bright Young Women now 💕
Happy birthday Rachael! I"m very happy for you and your family abc things seems to be going well - may it last twenty years ! {glasses clink, clink] As for A Man Called Ove, likely it will knock your sox off, it's so good. An odd think about Bachman's masterpiece novel is that it's pretty much impossible to talk about it without giving spoilers, it's weird that way. Keep up the good work, it's been fun so far.
i haven’t liked any of lisa unger’s books since confessions on the 7:45 so ive been questioning whether to check this out…thanks for saving me the time! haha
I absolutely agree with you on One of the good guys. I love the first two parts but the final part complete went wrong for me. I gave it 2.5 as well. I hated the mixed media form in part 3 and also, the story at that point forward is uninteresting and the twist is just stupid.
I just have got bright young women and I am going to be reading 📖 it soon as I can as it sounds amazing and brilliant ❤❤❤prayers and blessings for you and your family love your Aussie family friend John ❤❤❤
I just read "Imperfect Women" from Aramenta Hall, and gave it 2 stars. Very predictable. It's one of those books where you solve the "mystery" very early on, but you keep reading because you think...."Nah, that can't be it" and it was.
I paused to check out your Journaling style, which looks fun. I hate to see you are still having digestive pain. Have you considered digestive enzymes? They've really helped with my stomach issues a lot. Best wishes! And thanks for your energetic videos! ❤️ 💙 💜
I read One of the Good Guys and it was okay but the social commentary got on my nerves. Only 2 stars from me. I was disappointed. I was looking forward to this one.,
Speaking of Bundy, I find it so weird how everyone loves The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule. She was clearly mental and a Bundy Fan Girl. She kept sending him $10 and had all this sympathy for her “friend.” This guy brutalized women and children. I think she over stated her relationship to sell some books.
I respect a lot about Bright Young Women but I did not enjoy it. I think it's because I'm an ex-true crime girly and I expected this to be heavier on the *inspired by* and not just a fictional retelling of basically exactly what happened. I also didn't like Notes on an Execution though so maybe I'm the problem 😅
Calling a killer smart or good looking like they did is also bcuz that's how they were being described. They want women to be aware that the suspect isn't always some dirty crazy obvious person. That we as women need to be cautious of even men described as perfect. It's women writing these men in prison, sending them love letters & pics after these crimes. So can't just blame the men. But yeah that judge was a little over the top.

Aw thanks so much!! 🥰🥹
Gabby you got me so excited for bright young women!! & I too was a fan of Notes on an execution!
Hearing you say our kind of cruelty felt like a dream. That was literally like the 3rd book I read when I started reading in 2021 and I can’t remember it whatsoever now I may reread it.
I think it would be fun to hear about the ones you DNFd! Will they be in your monthly wrap up?
Yes I’ll definitely be talking about all my DNF’s in my wrap up video!! 👏
I can't wait to read bright young women once it's available at the library
I’m so glad that you read Bright Young Women. It was hands down my favorite book that I read last year, I constantly recommend it to people - it was so well written and an important read.
I really enjoyed Lukiest Girl Alive. The ending was so good! I need to read Bright Young women now!

Yes! I'm so glad you liked Bright Young Women. I really enjoyed it as well. 5 stars. Seems like people really love it or don't connect with it at all.

The Forest app is awesome! I’ve been breaking it out a lot recently - on my phone wayyyyy too much and would rather spend that time reading!
It’s so helpful!! 🥰🤩
Oooh thanks for the heads up on One of the good guys. I'll dodge a bullet with that. 😂😂
i haven’t liked any of lisa unger’s books since confessions on the 7:45 so ive been questioning whether to check this out…thanks for saving me the time! haha

Thank you!! My new glasses are from Costco 🥹 they are Raybans!
Loved BYW!!!
I wish I could focus reading better in public places but I suck at it lol. Too many distractions 😅
Great vlog.
I listened to one of the good guys and it was really good! Definitely not what you think it is!
I just read "Imperfect Women" from Aramenta Hall, and gave it 2 stars. Very predictable. It's one of those books where you solve the "mystery" very early on, but you keep reading because you think...."Nah, that can't be it" and it was.
If you know the Ted Bundy case, the Judge says exactly that to him! Crazy!
Not me and my husband actually living in apartment 5B 👀👀😂😂
You use a Hobonitchi planner 🎉
Ohhhh does that mean no reading 2023 favourites video? 👀 I'm shocked there were so many DNFs haha
Sadly no 😢 I’m also shocked I DNF’ed that many books lmao 🫣 it did not go to plan at all
I paused to check out your Journaling style, which looks fun. I hate to see you are still having digestive pain. Have you considered digestive enzymes? They've really helped with my stomach issues a lot. Best wishes! And thanks for your energetic videos! ❤️ 💙 💜

Smart, charismatic serial killer = manipulative. End of discussion
Speaking of Bundy, I find it so weird how everyone loves The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule. She was clearly mental and a Bundy Fan Girl. It seems Lisa Unger's books are not very good. They are not getting more than 3 stars from you.
Yeah, totally monsters are not always obviously monsters. There are not always red flags.
Totally agree!! And I’m not blaming men specifically for the glamorizing of these serial killers - more society as a whole!
