    I have received feedback regarding not squaring the frame on a table top, which absolutely agree with. I squared my frame on glass table top because i was not able to afford granite offcuts for the squaring. The correct way is to sqaure the frame on top a granite offcut or granite kitchen top.

    • @adamromer3691
      @adamromer3691 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Best practice is a flat granite block, but use what you have or can afford. Just check your surface for flatness, and your assembled parts for squareness. That’s the best you can do right now.
      This was a satisfying build to watch! Your printed parts were super clean, your printer color scheme was nice, and the videography wasn’t bad.
      I hope you see success and keep making good videos. You got a sub from me. 😁👍🏼

      Good build. There is always a couch expert who is going to tell you what to do. Yes, the safe to recommend option for the general public is granite kitchen top. Not everyone can afford to splash money just to buy a granite top to square their 3d printer frame. You did a good job with what you had

    I'm in the process of doing someting similar, although it's from my own modificagtions to Triano's usermod as I hadn't found this.
    The Y beam needs to be mounted very rigidly or you have resonance issues when you come to do input shaper, It's best to drill and tap new holes for the rear screws, failing that use the beefiest slide-in T-nuts you can find. Twist in ones just don't grip enough of the extrusion to get a good result.
    I'm just cadding up a motor mount that turns the pulley around and mounts the nmotor further inward to enable the use of a 48mm stepper. The creality ones are very feeble so I orderd some E3D/motech steppers of similar spec to the 0.9 degree 48mm LDOs that Voron reccomends and they don't fit.

      Yes, they give a proper look to the printer. If you want, you can skip them. One thing though, the rear skirt mounts the IEC plug and a 6020 fan. So maybe think for an alternative for their assembly before ditching the rear skirt.

    I drilled and tapped two additional holes to mount the Y axis 4040 rail with the original screws. I had the metric 5x1.0 tap and the #19 drill so why not? To mark where the holes had to be drilled I inserted a drill bit into the holes and spun it by had to make a mark, then put the Y axis rail on the drill press and made the holes.

    Most supplies ship the MGH rails with the carriages already mounted. You should NOT remove them, just install the rails and slide the carriages back and forth as needed to insert the screws. Also you did not show the application of grease to the rails and carriages, this should be done. If the carriages are shipped removed from the rails, they should come with a protective insert to keep the balls from falling out. When mounting the carriages to the rails, slowly slide the insert off as the carriages are inserted onto the rails. Keep these inserts to reverse the process if it is necessary to remove the carriages from the rails.

    How much is the approximate cost for this upgrade?

    • @HyperMakes
      @HyperMakes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Around $250.

      @@HyperMakes Oh that's quite a lot. For me that wouldn't be worth considering that I could get one of my dream printers like the Prusa mini or Voron 0 for not much more but it does look really good.

      (Not including filament but including all the stuff in pt2)

      It cost me around $200 for the conversion, excluding the printed parts.
