I haven’t played clarinet in over 30 years. My daughter is now in band playing alto sax. Thought about getting one and picking it up again and found one just yesterday at the thrift store-and on sale at that! I can’t wait to get refreshed! Your videos will get me warmed up again ☺️

Thank you so much. My daughter, 11, just started band in school and picked the clarinet. I play Sax but haven't picked it up in years. Even with the book, it was difficult for me to show her the fingering of the notes. Out of about 10 videos, this is the one that she chose. It helped tremendously. Thanks again!

That’s so cool ask her to practice every day even if for 30 min I just started playing the sax 1year ago before that I had a alto but didn’t play it cause I couldn’t play the low notes I thought it’s was a bad instrument but found out it was me lol so now I practice everyday :))

I have been playing the saxophone, on and off, since 1977. I have a clarinet, that has been a dust catcher and I broke with my clumsy saxophone hands (on sax, one does not need to cover the holes, just get to the pearls is all). The other day , after years, I fixed the problem with my clumsy saxophone meathooks. I wanted to play clarinet. This video is extremely helpful, since I consider your fingerings from another planet entirely. This wonderful tutorial has brought the basics to my lap; thank you so much! That being said, the saxophone had been unilaterally shunned by the european elite, when it was invented, for any orchestral positions. It still managed to survive. In modern music it even thrived. "The Devil's horn" was the main focus until, someone electrified the guitar. But, it has still carved it's place. Now, I believe strongly that a clarinet belongs in "pop" music! No doubt; clarinet is saxophone is grandson fam! Sh*t if Jethro Tull can sport a flute c'mon! The saxophones family member can surely be on board and should! Clarinetist start breaking down the door!!! BTW thank you again for this tutorial!🎶❤

I stopped playing twenty years ago because I was given "an offer I couldn't refuse" in high school: no marching band, no concert band...
On a trip to NoLa all those years later, I nearly jumped off a horse drawn French Quarter tour to find where this amazing playing was coming from... Doreen Ketchens on Royal St! I never would've quit had I known you could even DO that with the thing!!!!!

I never learned a instrument in school, as I got older I regretted not learning one. I started playing the ocarina but I bought a clarinet because I love the low mellow tone. I use a 3.5 Vandoran for my Rose gold Bb Clarinet with a Vandoran BD5 mouthpiece and for my G Clarinet I use a size 2 Vandoran with. BD5

That normally happens if you play after eating it’s a good ideal to wait 45 minutes to one hour after that should help :)))

I think either my clarinet is out of tune or I’m doing something wrong... the notes from C to G were a bit low, but the F A and B were completely off. HELP! Why don’t they sound the same and how can I fix it?

Download a tuner and practice with it to see if your out of tune and if you are try pulling the barrel out a little hope that helps :))

Sometimes I do going from Clarinet to tenor so I just practice both side by side and it’s less confusing but can be done :)))

How do you keep the clarinet stable while playing the F note?
There's no finger support on the front side and the instrument tilts a bit.

HarpoonTA while playing the f# or the f, you should still have your right hand at the stop in the middle of the clarinet. Hopefully this helped, if not sorry 😐
