I haven’t played clarinet in over 30 years. My daughter is now in band playing alto sax. Thought about getting one and picking it up again and found one just yesterday at the thrift store-and on sale at that! I can’t wait to get refreshed! Your videos will get me warmed up again ☺️
Thank you so much. My daughter, 11, just started band in school and picked the clarinet. I play Sax but haven't picked it up in years. Even with the book, it was difficult for me to show her the fingering of the notes. Out of about 10 videos, this is the one that she chose. It helped tremendously. Thanks again!
That’s so cool ask her to practice every day even if for 30 min I just started playing the sax 1year ago before that I had a alto but didn’t play it cause I couldn’t play the low notes I thought it’s was a bad instrument but found out it was me lol so now I practice everyday :))
Thanks for this. I haven't played in 20 years! My daughter is starting band and is playing trumpet so I snagged myself a clarinet so we could play together. This video was really helpful!!
That’s so cool Sarah that’s how I was I just started back playing in 2014 I posted video to give me a reason to practice my 1st video was Hello by Adele
Happy to hear that it helped I will create more videos like that since I have a lot of request so make sure you are subscribe and have the notification bell on thanks again keep me updated on your progress Happy New Year :))
i've have searched clarinet videos for several years. this is the first time your video has popped up. trying to learn again. good therapy for stroke recovery.
I am so glad I found you! You making learning how to play fun again. I used to play many years ago in the orchestra and I let it go while in the service...now in my late 40's you are helping me to enjoy it again. Thank you so much for what you do!!!
I have been playing the saxophone, on and off, since 1977. I have a clarinet, that has been a dust catcher and I broke with my clumsy saxophone hands (on sax, one does not need to cover the holes, just get to the pearls is all). The other day , after years, I fixed the problem with my clumsy saxophone meathooks. I wanted to play clarinet. This video is extremely helpful, since I consider your fingerings from another planet entirely. This wonderful tutorial has brought the basics to my lap; thank you so much! That being said, the saxophone had been unilaterally shunned by the european elite, when it was invented, for any orchestral positions. It still managed to survive. In modern music it even thrived. "The Devil's horn" was the main focus until, someone electrified the guitar. But, it has still carved it's place. Now, I believe strongly that a clarinet belongs in "pop" music! No doubt; clarinet is saxophone is grandson fam! Sh*t if Jethro Tull can sport a flute c'mon! The saxophones family member can surely be on board and should! Clarinetist start breaking down the door!!! BTW thank you again for this tutorial!🎶❤
New subbie! I played the tuba for 12 yrs, but now as an adult, I want to learn the clarinet. I hope to buy one for myself in a few months. I’m glad I found you!! This was a great beginning!
I’m an almost 36yr old and have been a flute player my whole life. I haven’t been into music for the last 5+yrs and really wanting to get back into it again. But this time I want to learn a new instrument I’ve never played before. The clarinet is something I want to learn.
One year ago I followed your tutorial.. now I can play almost every song on my clarinet real fluently.. also do u mind checking ( Giorgos Magas ) he is one of the best clarinet players in Greece, my country! :)
Thank you for this beginner video! I stopped playing twenty years ago because I was given "an offer I couldn't refuse" in high school: no marching band, no concert band... On a trip to NoLa all those years later, I nearly jumped off a horse drawn French Quarter tour to find where this amazing playing was coming from... Doreen Ketchens on Royal St! I never would've quit had I known you could even DO that with the thing!!!!! I bought a clarinet a few weeks after and only now found your videos to help get myself back into it: thanks again!
you are exacly whom i have been looking for....55 and just picked up the clarinet, and my first instrument ewer...staving off dementia by building new neural pathways...cheers and thanks...tobin tobin
I never learned a instrument in school, as I got older I regretted not learning one. I started playing the ocarina but I bought a clarinet because I love the low mellow tone. Really hard learning on your own but your video helped me find the first notes. Took me hours to be able to make one note LOL Gonna look at your other videos Thank you
@@rudeway I'm noticing that too much spit/ saliva is getting into my clarinet easily. I don't remember that almost 30 years ago. I was just assuming that I reed was too thin. Thank you for your time. 🎶💗
I think either my clarinet is out of tune or I’m doing something wrong... the notes from C to G were a bit low, but the F A and B were completely off. HELP! Why don’t they sound the same and how can I fix it? Btw this was really helpful though! Thanks!
I play the tenor sax and I’ve always been thinking of getting the clarinet, but it’s a completely different kinda fingering . Do you find that confusing at all ?
HarpoonTA while playing the f# or the f, you should still have your right hand at the stop in the middle of the clarinet. Hopefully this helped, if not sorry 😐

Hello Good evening I'm currently a Bb clarinet player and I'm in urgent help to learn all scales for the clarinet how best can you assist me
Bravo!
I got a clarinet from school and I have a concert soon and this helped me so much because I am confused with playing the notes thank you
Your Welcome
Would you please show the rest Major scales(D,E,F,G....) and how to play it in b flat clarinet cause it would be really helpful.
Nice bell/barrel
I like your style, have a question what reed size you would recommend?
I use a 3.5 Vandoran for my Rose gold Bb Clarinet with a Vandoran BD5 mouthpiece and for my G Clarinet I use a size 2 Vandoran with. BD5
Thanks, I'm already using a 2 but I'll give the 3.5 a try. 👍😊
That’s cool try different size reed until you find the one that work best with your mouthpiece, Clarinet and your personal wind pressure :)))
@@rudeway I'm noticing that too much spit/ saliva is getting into my clarinet easily. I don't remember that almost 30 years ago. I was just assuming that I reed was too thin. Thank you for your time. 🎶💗
That normally happens if you play after eating it’s a good ideal to wait 45 minutes to one hour after that should help :)))
really helpful
very good explanation.thank you sir.
Thank you
This is great
You're so cool and I wanna hangout n get lessons
Do you do zoom lessons bro ?
Thx 🙏
Hello sir I love your all video.and I won't see your next all others scales clarinet instrument video.
Have a nice day sir🙂
So helpful!❤️
I’m happy to hear that it helped :))
That B I can’t get that sound like urs
Keisha Boo same
Could you please also show the fingerings on the back of the clarinet?
I cant see what you are doing back there.
congratulation, very good
I think either my clarinet is out of tune or I’m doing something wrong... the notes from C to G were a bit low, but the F A and B were completely off. HELP! Why don’t they sound the same and how can I fix it?
Btw this was really helpful though! Thanks!
Download a tuner and practice with it to see if your out of tune and if you are try pulling the barrel out a little hope that helps :))
Will do. Thank you!
Thx now I can play I'm in six grade and I'm only at the three top one but thx!.😁😁😁😁😁😁
Thanks a lot 😀😁😃😄😅😆😇😇😇😇😇
Ha ha I learned a lot 😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇
cool man
For E flat clarinet, the fingerings you showed, would remain the same?
Yes. Eb clarinet has the same fingerings.
Thanks
Sir please teach after A B and some easy music according to band party, if possible, I am from India
Thank.you.sir
You’re welcome :))
I play the tenor sax and I’ve always been thinking of getting the clarinet, but it’s a completely different kinda fingering . Do you find that confusing at all ?
Sometimes I do going from Clarinet to tenor so I just practice both side by side and it’s less confusing but can be done :)))
thank you very much sir
youre welcome :)))
How do you keep the clarinet stable while playing the F note?
There's no finger support on the front side and the instrument tilts a bit.
HarpoonTA while playing the f# or the f, you should still have your right hand at the stop in the middle of the clarinet. Hopefully this helped, if not sorry 😐
@@kodic4419 Thanks very much . I'll try that .
Can someone tell me what clarinet brand he is using?
It’s a Backun protege Clarinet cocobobo wood :)
@@rudeway Thank you!!!
@@rudeway It's beautiful thanks for the lesson!
I need Bb clarinet what is the price in good quality
legend
My mum got me a clarinet
That’s so cool :))
G i press al the bottom holes some are hard im on band class
Its always disturbing when a deceptive cadence occurs. Great video!
You didn't show the left thumb need to press the hole and press the key with finger tip at the SAME time for B which is why someone else failed.
Didn't really get the fingering for higher notes. Not that obvious for rookies like myself.
C , D, E, F, G, A, B i am a clarinet ik how to play really good and ik how to do higher notes
To get really good takes practice everyday and finding a good teacher in your area :)))
Cómo quisiera que hablaras español 😅
Vivo en Filipinas y nadie habla español, lo que dificultará la práctica del español :)))
I didn't pay attention in class B)
Don't puff your cheeks.
Can you please actually say what you are pressing... instead of saying "hold this, this and that"...
For some reason you sound airy and are not supporting your sound.
thank you so much
