Thank you for making this video. I bought an AEM 30-0300 from SDPC this past November and was very confused to find a FAE/AEM labeled sensor instead of the Bosch LSU. Afterwards, I checked AEM's site and found a small note in the description saying:
"AEM co-developed the new sensor with global automotive supplier FAE, culminating in a new sensor design that has a faster response time than the Bosch 4.9 LSU and is less prone to failure in high performance vehicles"
However there are still 2 sets of instructions for the same part number on the same AEM page, with one labeled "Bosch Sensor" and one "FAE Sensor".
In the "FAE Sensor" instructions, there is an extra note saying:
"The X-Series UEGO gauge can automatically determine whether an AEM/FAE or Bosch LSU4.9 sensor is connected to the UEGO sensor harness."
So to me it sounds like they are in process of switching to FAE sensors, but I am happy to know I can pick up a good old LSU4.9 if the FAE fails quickly. So far so good!
    P.S.: CAN FTW!

I just got the same and just installed it. I have an older one with the Bosch sensor. I didn't see this video until after I instlled it, otherwise I would have taken pics of both side by side. The old one is going into my other project. I will follow up on this video with more as I hammer on this one, especially if anything goes wrong.

I just purchased an OBD2 Wide Band directly from AEMs site, and it came with the FAE sensor.
They have a video on their TH-cam about switching over to FAE sensors.

Aem is now going to be using fae sensors according to their website. Supposedly they are better but time will tell. I'll stick to the bosch as they are easy to find at a parts store.

Funny that you posted this right now, I bought a boost, AFR, and oil pressure gauges from AEM directly about 2-3 weeks ago and my afr gauge came with a FAE wide band sensor.

AEM 4-life! On a real note, I usually get mine from auto zone it comes with a warranty, and it's authentic. If you can get past them wanting to look up a vehicle and not understanding how to type in a part number, then it works out in the long run. Gives you a year to make sure your sensor is solid. Thanks Kyle.

Last aem I bought came with a fake bosch sensor that lasted about 5 minutes of idle time so I exchanged it for an all new gauge/ sensor kit and it also had a fake bosch that lasted for 1 cruise. After this I called and complained to aem so they sent me a new o2 sensor and sure enough they sent me an authentic bosch sensor and it worked flawless until I sold the car. After this I only look for the older lsu 4.2 gauges. I have never had an issue with my 15yr old 4.2 gauge setup. Only had to replace the sensor a couple times since going to e85

Lemme try that again. I was trying to be funny but I failed. The 30-0300 I bought 6ish months ago from The WS6 Store is working great for probably the best price you can find on a genuine AEM unit! It has the FAE and AEM markings on the side of the sensor. Thanks again for your time and knowledge! Mike in DFW

Im new to the tuning world and have learned a lot from this channel along with HPTuners. Granted, Im not writing my own tunes just yet and may not for quite some time but I did learn about wideband's and I did purchase this very same AEM UEGO unit. It came with the Bosch O2 sensor and works flawless. Granted, I am concern with sensor life expectancy but not really. I got the car dialed currently with help from a very reputable tuner and its the power to the pedal that I care more about. As far as the AEM unit, yes, the instructions have to be updated but other than that, great unit. Awesome work on the channel Goat rope garage.

Ive bought 2 of these and a boost gauge over the last 3 years. Both 30-0300 had a knockoff sensor. I received the boost gauge poorly packaged. The box was mashed inside, unit had a scratch and blems. I immediately returned the boost gauge. I also purchased these from summit so i would say they are the real deal. The sensors included did not last a year.

When you get to describing connections, please include your thoughts on using the AEMNet with the Prolink+ on the MPVI3, which in my case is the 30-0300. The 0334 has the OBDII pass-through, mine just has two wires suitable for connecting to the Prolink+. The searches I’ve done show a couple possibilities. There are two 5v input wires to the Prolink+, blue and red. There are also two CAN buss wires which one guy connected to the AEM CAN buss by putting a 100 ohm resistor across the connection-which made it work. My question is whether you find if this is an option rather than the analog 5v. My application is a Gen IV 6.0 with an E38 and a 6L90. The TCM has a Corvette OS and the torque converter is Circle-D with a triple disc clutch. The combo is in a 71 C10, soon to be ready to start for the first time.

I run one of these guages and so far it works very well. However, after doing a TSP stage 3 cam on a camaro ls3, the idle tuning seems a bit off. Every now and again it will go into a weird idle, almost like it is surging. Rpm is set at 900. When it does this weird idle, the AFR guage will bounce as high as 16.5 before leveling back out. Idk if this is normal for a larger cam. The stock set up would do the same thing sometimes. Any feedback would he appreciated! Normal driving is pretty good. Afr is between 14-15 cruising low load. PE stays about 12:1.

Funny you say some of the sensors are crap, I bought 2 of these in 2021ish and put them in both banks of my CTS-V. One of the sensors died in a year, the other sensor died after 2 years. Unfortunately the car is in storage for the winter and I can't check who makes the sensors right now.

I just bought this same kit from summit yesterday, I’ll report back once it gets here. I hope they didn’t cheap out to try to maximize profits. @bishop94z 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@GoatRopeGarageLike promised, brand new kit from Summit racing, the sensor itself has no markings on it. It’s just a plain piece of shiny metal. The pigtail does not say Bosch but has the Bosch emblem and the part number 1928404687 on it. Date stamp is 23.11.18 15:28, so that must be November 18th, 2023 at 3:28pm. Not too old. But couldn’t they just swap the pigtail? No other way to tell it’s genuine from the sensor itself.

    • @bishop94z
      @bishop94z 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Other than not knowing if the sensor is genuine, this is a pretty nice kit. I like that they include the cardboard cutout so you can ensure you can get the sensor hole-saw size if you went that route, and the wiring itself seems pretty solid.

if you got the 30-0334 model you can cut the obd2 plug off and wire it in to serial adapter to plug into pc. The analog wire is there, just not used in shipped state.

@bigbenisdaman not sure, on mine the analog and serial wires weren't populated in the plug. The firmware is different also but reading the instructions makes it seem like the serial portion is active.

@@GoatRopeGarage yea I did mine last month, had to move a pin on the gauge side (instructions pin-out has them all labeled, analog is there just not pinned) then cut obd2 connector and wire that repinned wire to serial connector; if that makes sense. My AEM Gauge (ordered December 2023) came with a fake sensor. It lasted 20 minutes, contacted AEM and was sent a replacement, it lasted 5 minutes. I ordered a new sensor that the seller claimed to be authentic Bosch, it was not. It lasted less than 5 minutes. I went to O'Reillys and bought a real genuine Bosch unit, and not surprisingly it has not been an issue since I installed it. IF IT DOES NOT SAY "BOSCH LSU 4.9" IT IS NOT REAL. The genuine unit also has machining on the peaks of the hex and all of my fakes do not. Dont buy this junk. I will never buy from AEM again.
