Try plastic pots for your syngonium! Mine hate the terracotta in my house. They just dry out too quickly. They are all doing much better in plastic plus cute cover pots 😍

I paid $16 for a 4" Silver Sword just a few weeks ago at local Philly suburban plant store. Such a beautiful plant & can't wait to see her grown. Still waiting for the PPP to drop to $30 & then I will pounce!!!

Have hope! I found an established one with sectoral variegation through a local seller for $30, at the start of the year :)

I was at my local outdoor plant nursery and saw a PPP for $6.99 PLUS 25% off!! I got two because one looked iffy. Definitely don’t lose hope and keep your eye out!

My Silver Sword had like 4 leaves when I bought it. At the time it was my most expensive plant purchase for $65. It's grown sooo much now and it's interesting to see the price drop. I still love it though as well :)

As someone who lives in Queensland, Australia it is so interesting to see the difference in prices. Here the maranta is more expensive than the Batik but both are pretty common.

      IKR!
I saw heaps of maranta at bunnings today (im in sydney). Silver sword and batik/fantasy also easily found at bunnings for cheap.

My kids bought my silver sword for my birthday, it was 55 bucks and small but there were 4 little plants in the pot so worth it. 💜

It’s so crazy.. a syngonium batik would have been 100€ in Germany a few months ago and now you can buy it online from the Netherlands for like 10-20€

Silver sword price has come down so much. I also got a silver sword cutting for like 45 bucks. It never did much. I bought a full huge mature pot of silver sword for 39 bucks. Like 15 huge mature leaves. It was hard for me to not dropkick my smaller one in the trash 😪

i cant believe it cost that much! i found a good sized one at Walmart for 12$. however I live in Canada and it’s winter so that may play a part in the price.

  • @GEOMETRICINK

A weird yet impressive fact about the ric rac cactus is it will fully root in water after a week. It’s insane. I pulled mine out of the water after maybe 10 days and it had an EXTENSIVE root system. I’ve never seen anything root like that before. That plant is a beast.

Ive imported syngonium from indonesia a few times, your acclimation issue probably wasn’t your fault at all! syngonium are really sensitive their first 6 months or so after import, and often cant handle room humidity or soil for quite a long time after. If you import them again, i suggest keeping it in a bin/ cloche for the first few months and re rooting in moss even if it comes with roots that look healthy(the import roots are pretty useless until they put out fresh roots in your conditions). Yours is well on its way to acclimating, but those are some strategies to speed up the process for next time that have worked for me:)

Love your earrings! I've kind of given up on syngoniums even though I don't find them to be too difficult to care for. For some reason pests just gravitate to mine so I've thrown them out XD

I just received my silver sword in the mail today. I believe I paid either 24.99 or 29.99 for her from Steve’s leaves. Can I say I literally stared and stared at her! She was in a 3.5 in pot with 5 or 6 gorgeous huge leaves. I can’t wait to watch her grow!

Locally you can get a 4” (2/3 leaves) SS for 25.00. I paid 100.00 for an 7 leave. Oof. Totally one of my most $$ plants too, but your right, it is gorgeous and has always been one of my favourites.

Syngonium are jungle floor plants, they don't like bright indirect light, if you take down the light a bit I bet it will grow better. I keep mine on the bottom shelf of my plant shelf so it gets some light, but not a whole massive bunch.

I think prices are gonna be coming down overall. Everyone willig to pay upwards of $100 for PPP already has one. Same for Albo PB @ $400+. So many beautiful plants available at better & better prices every day. Love what you got. Know what you love. We love how plants improve our homes & lives. Inflated prices get in the way of that. Unless you are in it for something else. If that is the case, so sad to be missing the point

Interesting the house plant prices in the US vs Australia. We really can’t import due to bio security restrictions they have to be in a facility for 3 months etc and it’s just not worth it for non commercial growers.
You guys have some plants that are expensive that are crazy cheap here and vice Versa.
Syngonium are considered a pest where I live and have grown up with white butterfly and plain green ones growing rampant in my parents garden. Some plants have matured up trees to 5 finger/ lobed leaves. Still doesn’t stop me collecting them. The batik was less common but has just hit out local big box stores for around AUD$20 -$30 for a 6 inch pot. Just got an advanced silver sword for $15 at my local big box store which was a good buy but usually for a 6-8inch pot it was around $20-$30 last year.
Where as a tiny Hoya Australia Lisa is AUD$100+ (USD $75ish) and a Scindapsus treubii moonlight is so hard to find. I can get a 1 leaf cutting for AUD$50-75 on marketplace.

Someone please tell me how do you tell the difference between Syngonium White Butterfly and Batik??? Great earrings Cat🌿

    • @emmap3283
      @emmap3283 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

white butterfly has soft green edges with some shading in the veins, Batik will get dramatic almost neon veining that looks reptillian under the right light! batik can look like white butterfly in light thats too bright, but white butterfly will never have that sharp veiny dramatic look.
