I want to agree, but some folks would lose money putting their time (time IS $) into a project like this. Then, you have Life to Live. Family. Kids. Etc.
then, ultimate there’s the issue with having the Know How. Not everyone is Handy.

@Michael Meyer, as an A6 owner myself brother, UNFORTUNATELY you ARE correct! I think mine has 4-6 different codes going right now and it seems as I'm slowly fixing them, more things arise with it being an 01 and the shitty 2.8 liter motor.

Gotta love Craigslist! "It needs coils an spark plugs" and you end up with a blown engine or something... or you get "It needs a timing chain, I think it broke - has no compression" and ended up being a dead battery and getting no spark.
Love your vids, Can't wait to see more! Sucks you had to go to a smaller garage though.

I bought an olds delta 88 a couple years ago. The owners said they couldn't figure out what was going on with it and decided it would be better to not have it checked by a mechanic, so after I bought it and inspect it for a couple minutes i realize the fuel pump relay and fuel pump were completely shot. I got a perfectly running car for $200 and an extra $100 on a fuel pump, relay and filter. That was honestly the best deal I've gotten on a car! I just recently sold it after rebuilding the engine (kinda, pretty much just did timing, cooling, gaskets, plugs and coils the rest was pretty solid) for $1200 after driving it for 2 years.

If you know what you are doing you can have the engine pulled and the whole front end removed in a single weekend. All it takes is the knowledge, tools, and hard work. I have flipped a house in a week, and done this type of thing on my own car in less then a month after is got hit. As long as it is front end damage only... dealing with quarter panel damage is a whole different animal, and can take far longer to do.

Not really .That fender unbolts fairly easily .Light just plugs and bolts in and if any plastic connections broken he has the parts . Hood a 2 man job ,but not that hard to do. He is also in the car business so he knows where to get the parts repainted for a reasonable cost .Remember with the panels replaced there is no real body work ,just sand and paint and clearcoat. At the same time any other paint issues can be done by a body shop that can blend in . Even if he did not refinish the lights himself bet you he can get that done for $60.00 to $80.00. He was being very conservative on prices he could get for the parts off the doner car . Just do the math .He has a car for 0 dollars . Beats the hell out of a car payment .

Its a great idea in theory and maybe a fun project. He left out how he actually got the dead car in his driveway. A tow could vary $50-150. Next labor costs money, even if its you whos doing the work, its time. and then the intensive time involved with finding individuals interested with leftover parts such as - putting up ads, answering calls, setting up time for people to come over for the parts they are interested in, actually taking off the parts, etc

A good video would be on the best way to decarbon the Audi direct port injection engines. And installing oil catch cans in the PVC system to avoid or greatly reduce the problem.
I'm thinking of the Audi s6 v10, but this applies to any direct port injected engine, and the oil catch cans are good for any engine that you don't want the valves and intake sludged up

The cool thing is that I keep finding things on the parts car that are better than the parts on the one I'm fixing, things like fog lights or mirrors or trim panels or whatever. It's good to have a parts car.

I think I said this in one of you older video's I would bet that Audi is pushing the same as a B5 S4 about 261 bhp, and 295 ft lb of torque, this is the UK version, my one. I think the US version is slightly less. Just change the turbos from a B5 RS4 and engine management, you will get 100+ bhp right of the bat. well 375 bhp and 325 ft lb of torque, again this is UK figures. Quick and easy to do.Will look forward to your vids mate.Dave UK

Could you please go over how to get salvage cars and go through the process of getting the title off of salvage, etc? It is really fascinating to me how to do that. There are so many "salvage" cars out there that would be easy fixes, but I and probably many others are afraid of the red tape.

You can't get rid of a salvage title once it's been put on the car. That's illegal. Even if this guy knew, why would he tell you, because you could be a snitch.

parteibonza Oh, I didn't know that. I thought you could get an inspection or something and get a new title?

Hmm, google is your friend, it varies by state and it is possible after a safety inspection, and it will be listed as "Rebuilt salvage" for the rest of the life of the vehicle, which can be driven legally, and insured, etc. Thanks for nothing. lol en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvage_title www.autos.com/car-buying/is-it-possible-to-remove-the-salvaged-title-on-a-vehicle itstillruns.com/clear-salvage-title-4765620.html www.thebalance.com/how-to-get-a-salvage-title-removed-on-a-vehicle-527543

That sounds good however not everyone has a dealer's license. So this may not work for the average consumer. Very informative video.

How much trouble is it getting a functional title from auto auctions and tow company auctions? Being able to register a vehicle is kind of important.
