I kind of love that they are so confused by it all. I grew up around the birth of thrash metal in the SF bay area and although I love metal and play it myself, I've always thought it could be a lot more creative and less limited. But then I think the same thing about all bands that limit themselves to just one of the many great genres of music there are out there. That Poppy is combining more than 2 or even 3 genres per song tickles my ears in a most pleasant manner, lols.
I knooooow! I went to that same concert and was in the pitt. It's sad, but she was opening for BMTH and Sleeping with Sirens so I guess everybody was just saving their energy for those performances. It still was an amazing performance, everybody loved her and when she stopped performing everybody started talking about how good she was.

Not really. The people just didn't know her. I was up front and like 99% of the people around me it was there first time hearing her. You got to factor most people were there for sleeping with sirens and bring me the horizon. It was a great show overall. I felt a little bad for her, but gotta start somewhere. Looking forward to her future stuff ^_^

The band holds their own right alongside her too. No one shines brighter than the other, everyone pulls their own weight. No matter how great a singer is, if the band suck, I can't deal.

This view is great for me, since I'm a guitarist and recording engineer and like to see everything happening on stage as well as hear it. All too often all the focus goes to just the singers of bands and I feel I miss out of 3/4 or so of the overall experience. From here I can see and experience it all though. This band are members of the group _Blame Candy_ and are exceptionally talented musicians, and very good performers as well.
