What the hell... add my sister to me and my dad and you get my exact memory as well. I wasn't older than 6. We would start dancing faster as the music started to speed up. Dad made us laugh so hard.. he passed last year, still miss him.
@@nina.k666 I'm sorry to hear about your dad passing away, how old was he? That's a lovely memory you will treasure, your dad making you laugh so much! We forget how much older they are than us, so time is short with them. I hope you are a fun dad, and do similar fun things with your kids, they'll remember those times more. God bless you.
@@hideouslyugly Thank you so much! He was 65, full of life, so his death took us all by surprise. He was a neurosurgeon and caught covid in January 2021 - it's first strain, the deadliest one. He lost his life trying to help people in need. I won't be a fun dad unfortunately but maybe one day I'll be a fun mom instead :) I'm in med school as well, hopefully I'll help people as much as he did. God bless you too.
i remember my mom and dad dancing to this when i was about 7…my mom was so beautiful man, long black curly hair to the centre of her back and gorgeous green eyes..my dad matched her beauty too..damn i miss them:(
Been trying to find these guys since I was a kid. Almost broke out in tears hearing it. Saw them long ago when my mom invited them to play in our town fest. Was the best ever hearing it in person, danced my ass off in the park with them as a kid. I’ve listened to a ton of pan and Andes music but they take it to a whole new level of traditional and breaking the boundaries of instruments use. Absolutely love these guys 💞
Same here, you won't believe how long it's taken me to find this (or maybe you would). I remember it from the 70's, but didn't know the title or artist names, all I could remember was the tune. I've been dredging through pan pipe videos for years and FINALLY ... just found it! In the process however, I have come across tons of other cool pan pipe tracks, so the search was well worth all the time.
Omg same. Forgot about it as I knew it when I was a kid and couldn't remember it till recently. I couldn't stop crying for the like the whole evening. 🙈 I feel this track speaks to my soul. ❤️ Something very spiritual and beautiful about the whole thing. It reminds me that we are all together; humanity needs to be united.
This is definitely worth a tribute.I was out doing a paper round to earn pocket money when i first heard this some 45 ? Years ago. I loved that song when I first heard it and still do. And here we are 2024 and we are still coming back to it.
Don't know if they came to Oxford also I remember hearing this music being played outside marks and Spencer I was 10. I think my mum brought the cassette tape of them at the time. 🇬🇧
They played this at morning assembly at primary school every day for years. Been stuck in my head ever since. I whistle it all the time and thought maybe I had imagined the tune. I’ve been looking for it for decades.
I've been looking for a couple of decades. Heard a dance mix version in the 90's which I think must have been 'just someone's' creation rather than a well known thing. Finally found the original and inspiration for the tune I heard long ago, which helps to tame the ear worm!
Can't believe it! This song has been popping up in my head from time to time for decades now, and I never knew how to search for it once google became a thing. Today the tune popped into my head yet again and I found it unbearable thinking that I might never find it.... So, after a little bit of searching on google with terms like, 'Peruvian wind instruments' I saw the name Pan Flue and did the search 'famous 80's peruvian pan flute song'... And here it is. My god, you have no idea how much nostalgia this brings, or perhaps you do; it almost has me choking up. Probably haven't heard this since I was 11 or 12 years old; 51 now!
Kind of extraordinary that the only Andean music ever to chart in the UK was made by a bunch of session musicians working for Ballet Rambert. I remember them appearing on Top of the Pops as a kid and have always wondered how a much of bearded hippies ended up playing Andean. I think they actually sound quite authentic.
My nan used to have this on tape along with a few others including Riverdance - John Anderson. She played the tape every time we got into the car and I loved it. This brings back so many memories from my childhood! Nostalgia!
in 2022 i was in peru for two magical weeks and this music beautifully expresses the mood and soul of that country. things change and are always developing but I hope they manage to keep their wild and archaic soul.
Always reminds me of my dad he loved this and had it on record , remember us dancing to this when I was a little girl , good memories that you treasure as you get older ❤❤
It makes me want to soar like a seagull over me home of Derby and look down on the council houses and the Westfield shopping centre. If anyone's in Derby look up. That seagull might be me listening to this music.
I used to play this on an empty bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale. Made me Lord Mayor they did. It was all going great until one dark night I made my way home with a battery operated torch and they ran me out of town as a witch. Made my way down to London and taught it to a busker in a poncho. Next thing him and his mates are on TOTP!!! What a frigging liberty.
This song brings me back home. This type of tune is played a lot in Ecuador. I'm glad this music brings countries like Perú, Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile, Colombia and others together :) and it makes me very happy how this London based band managed to make people all over the world love this
Me encantan mucho los pueblos andinos. Siempre tendrán un sitio especial en mi corazón ❣ Que Dios bendiga aquellas personas que trabajan duro para proteger y preservar esta cultura.
It was used in the late 80's and the beginning of the 90's as the theme of the weekly broadcasting of the Israeli first basketball league on radio. Beautiful music!
LOL, saw these guys playing their pipes in the 1990s in Kingston town center, a day later travelled up North to Whitby and they there were playing this tune in their ponchos, Must be able to teleport.
i saw them in the early 80's in the salisbury arts centre, i was young and living in a kids home,my mum visited and took me there. anyone remember 'peru eddy'?
This lovely piece of music was used in a UK documentary about the London Underground in the 1980's which I had on VHS for years but now sadly lost- maybe it's out there online somewhere hopefully.
Remember standing on my dad's feet and he danced me round the living room when I was little to this... Kinda emotional
Makes it an awesome song, anything that evokes a memory or emotion has to be worthwhile 🙂

I bought this in the 80s! Love from the UK 🇬🇧

I saw them at the Stratford upon Avon Civic Hall many years ago... An absolutely brilliant night!

Amazing I found the music I remember from the 80's. 🇬🇧

I loved that song when I first heard it and still do.
And here we are 2024 and we are still coming back to it.
Same. Bought this album when I was 13! Weird how it was popular
This reminds me of being a child in the eighties. Saw them years later playing in the streets of Chester when I was in my teens. Beautiful music.
Don't know if they came to Oxford also I remember hearing this music being played outside marks and Spencer I was 10. I think my mum brought the cassette tape of them at the time. 🇬🇧
Played today on Radio 2, Pick of the Pops from 1983.
And like THAT *snaps fingers* it’s 1982 again…
❤️🥺
Heard this on Michael Palin's TV show "Full Circle" as he travelled from Bolivia to Peru. Love the music.
I was born in 1982 and I remember hearing this as I grew up. I now have an eleven week old and this magically stops him crying.
They played this at morning assembly at primary school every day for years. Been stuck in my head ever since. I whistle it all the time and thought maybe I had imagined the tune. I’ve been looking for it for decades.

This lifts my mood every time I hear it. Amazing wee tune and skilled musicians
I'm so depressed right now... This lifted me for a bit
@@abigailgodfrey4778I hope you’re doing better now
This was the 1st pan pipe recording I listened to, what a great sound and they made it onto TOTP cant be bad
My Dad loved this ❤️, God rest you Dad ✨️🙏

I think the tape you're looking for is called "World Moods" 1998. There's a digital version that's almost just as good.
I remember loving listening to this with my mum when I was a kid. We especially loved the pipe section in the middle. Still love it now
My favourite song of the 80's. I remember them playing it on Blue Peter. As a child I was transfixed by the sound and rythmn. X

My 1 year old daughter Nikki used to dance around to this in 1982 !!

A CLASSIC cheery tune dating back to 1982.

Me and my dad used to dance to this… brings back so many happy memories ❤️
this completly changed my opinion of the peruvian pan flute thanks
I absolutely hated Peruvian pan flute music until I heard this
I love the fact that this comment will age so terribly and people with a genuine interest in the genre will be so bemused.
We know you're from reddit
Same here, I couldn't imagine I would ever find peruvian panflute that I didn't hate, but this is it!
Are you talking about the Zampoña??? Its not only peruvian almost all andean cultures use it.
this came on today in the car while I parked at my dad's grave -- he would've loved this song, maybe it was a message from him
I used to play this on an empty bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale. Made me Lord Mayor they did.
