I remember this wonderful tune , I was in the Army at the time, I just completed a Mortar Platoon commander’s course at Netheravon , then a nice sea journey to the south Atlantic , I eventually ended up in the Middle East just in time for another war in the Lebanon. It’s a great wee tune! Faugh-A-Ballagh !
As an Andean music player, I always liked this band. I got to hear them watching a documentary of them travelling to South American and playing their music. I think my dad still has this on VHS. I do have their first LP on vinyl. Great musicians.
I love this piece of music. I especially like the fact they're trying not to laugh the whole way through! "Cacharpaya" is now officially one of my funeral songs.
They were truly a manufactured band. They were put together just to perform this and if I am right didn't even play the instruments. Just all actors I think
@@sodd1000 No, they were proper professional musicians but not from South America. There is an interesting back-story involving a ballet company. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incantation_(musical_group)
I haven't played my flute for many years (a small wire broke and now the only note it will play is G) but on watching this video again I thought, can I still do it, and I got a great didgeridoo song from an empty wine bottle. You have to pooch your lower lip out and blow across, not down. X
teacher at my school called mrs owen played this in assembley loved it but had to pretend i hated it to try and act hard, cheers mrs owen falmer school brigthon
As a Commodore kid in the Eighties I loved this thing as part of the WE M.U.S.I.C. 3 collection (th-cam.com/video/ZlZXqXkokjQ/w-d-xo.html) and thought it came from some obscure video game. Almost 40 years later I find out that it had been an actual top twenty song in the UK at the time. Blows my mind!

I saw Incantation in concert at the Hexagon in Reading in about 1983. It was fantastic!
Saw Incantation in Cambridge, 1983 or 1984. They were fantastic. Started off my love for this sort of music.

Was this the inspiration to the fast show's "Patagonians"?
I just watched an idiot abroad and knew the music and even the name of the song and the band, the Peru episode in season 1
I agree
Video begun by ABBA's "One Of Us".
Genius

Don't want why but it always make me laugh
Awesome,
If these really were the guys then hats off.
They look fucking wasted. And they've made one of the best tracks ever.
I’m not convinced that this isn’t the fast show spoof?
Nice.
@@FishpondsLady i see what you did there! :p
It is.....a spoof!!😀
How much money did Peruvian buskers make playing this song in crappy town centers?
Lovely song but worst case of miming to panpipe music that I have ever seen. Looked like one of them was cleaning their teeth at one point!
The whitest tribal band ever.
