  • Brian and Jon head to Vermont for their first bike packing adventure, tackling the Green Mountain Gravel Growler route they came across on BikePacking.com. Initially expecting to complete the ride in four days, with three nights of camping, see how long it takes Brian and Jon to ride all 250+ miles and climb all 20,000+ feet, while climbing up to the highest paved road in Vermont on 40-pound bikes and enjoying great food, foam and foliage.

    I'm absolutely loving this video on this rainy Oct 30th day I'm from Western Massachusetts and ride single track and gravel on my diverge pro all over the place and watching you guys is a reflection of what I do on a daily but don't feel like doing it today in the rain so this is a great substitute thanks for the great video

    Love your videos. I'm primarily a roadie who's gotten into gravel and bike packing to start with a used aluminum Canyon Grail with front suspension, but it's weight, 27 lbs, is killing me. I'm considering each of your bikes here as an upgrade, or rather the Lauf Seigla vice TrueGrit. Hoping to have one gravel bike that I can both occasionally race and bike pack with. Warbird's not as light as the Seigla, but has more fittings for bikepacking gear, but also lacks the Seigla's front suspenseion. I'd love your thoughts on these two bikes, and any other gravel bikes to consider, as an all-arounder gravel/bike-packing bike? Thanks!

      Hey thanks for watching and commenting. Not uncommon for a gravel bike on a packing trip to weigh close to 40 pounds. I try not to think about the weight too much on rides like that and love my Salsa Warbird.

    I will be doing the cross New Hampshire, cross Vermont trail westbound in a week. I was thinking about going off course at Montpelier and either taking the north end of this loop or the south end and going back to Montpelier. I don’t have time to do all of it so you can you tell me which half of the loop was your favorite. Thanks

    • @ItsJustAHill
      @ItsJustAHill  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We suggest the north end. Up by Craftsbury and Greensboro is absolutely gorgeous and probably some of the best views on the full loop. Enjoy!!

    Well Done! I'm new to bike packing and basically taking my backpacking stuff and strapping it on my bike. I assume you used an app to follow the trail? If so which one? Also was the trail well marked? THX in advance.

      We downloaded the GPX track from Bikepacking.com and followed along on our head units. Brian has a Wahoo and Jon uses a Hammerhead

    Sick video man, love to see it. Production was top notch! Would I be insane to try this route on 26-28mm tires lol? Probably panaracer gravel king sk's..really want to ride it but only have a road bike currently. Thinking I could re route to avoid class 4 roads and some single track..would love to hear your thoughts

    • @ItsJustAHill
      @ItsJustAHill  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment. Glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for watching.
      I do think 26-28s would be pushing it a bit, unless you really avoided all of the more technical stuff. Not impossible, but might turn it into more of a ride on tarmac, rather than mostly gravel. At least the bike would be slightly lighter with those skinnier tires! ha. Let us know if you have any more questions, and good luck with your adventure.
      - Jon

    Which GoPros and bike mounts were you guys using?

    • @ItsJustAHill

      We used a GoPro9 Black, GoPro8, along with some iPhone footage. Non-branded mounts were purchased online and attached to our handlebars.
