This complete journey took me back 50yrs to when I started as a fireman,I could have been watching myself. I loved it then and I loved watching the clips now, brilliant footage.
Great videos. But I have to ask, what are two valves by the bucket. Is that the water taps with the injectors in front of the fireman’s seat? Also, I can see a handbrake anywhere, yet when sat in the platform, the train clearly has no vacuum brakes applied, or am I missing something?
Those two valves next to the bucket are the dampers for controlling the air coming up through the bottom of the fire. The water valves for the injectors are low down in front of the fireman's seat. The handbrake is under the position where the camera is mounted on the tender. The train is held on the locos steam brake which you can see released at 26 seconds.

Thank you very much for the 3 videos. It is as close as I can ever get to being up on the footplate.
Loved these three videos ... felt like I was there
Dave Oblivion thank you!
