I test drove both of these last week. I learned to drive on my parents Buick sedan years ago and always remembered how smooth the ride was. The Encore did not remind me of the Buicks of old, it was a nice simple crossover, but lacked personality and driving dynamics. I really wanted to like it. The CX30, although smaller, was fun to drive, the interior is second to none, and how do you not love the front of these mazdas. The ride was def smoother although, I’d expected the Buick to have that luxury brand smooth suspension, crazy to say it’s def Mazda all the way. I dont know if I’ll get the CX30 because the Lincoln Corsair and Volvo XC40 had the smoothest plush ride of all the compact SUVs I’ve test driven.
You have to buy that suspension if you want comfortable. That crossover is for sport look not comfortable your looking at the wrong suv because it's build like the trail blazers
@@MrMoose-mf1oy I don't agree the Mazda look is boring asf the encode gx can come with so many colors and different front grill looks that the Mazda can't even live up to especially the inside Mazda played safe it boring . They reminded me of kia wanna be luxurious but can't. And it's much cheaper because it's doesn't come with any features aleast buick give you the sunroof and technology packages and more for the base model . And they saying the that engine is trash the 4 cylinder is trash it's still not power enough. Buick have so many trims that will make Mazda cx-30 look like shit
Encore GX looks way better inside and out than CX-30. It looks more like an SUV while CX-30 looks more like a station wagon. For better comparison, you should have included dimensions (height, length, width), wheel size, ground clearance, etc. I do however agree, Buick did fail in power and handling capability.
The encore gx ride very good it stiff enough for streets that are messed up bad and the way the suspension reacted each Millersecond . You can get two types of suspension comfortable or stiff and the top trim model with the brown interior is everything and all these technology features the Mazda Don't even have is sad . Buick has the wirless charging pad and you can add back seat tvs inside the head rest. The gx is wonderful it's has so much character love this little crossover buick is stepping up there game 🎮🤣
I drove the Encore GX on the CA 405 and it rips…plus the Encore GX gives you more. GM has some serious surprises coming up, so get ready. P.S. if you want something small and roomy with big HP, get Mini Countryman or BMW X1!
Buick needs a 4 cyl... but its GM trying to cut cost i get it. 3 piston engine is cheaper than a 4..... id ditch the turbo for a 4th cylinder and make it a 2.2- 2.4 or so.... Mazda nails it with its sky-active engines. Fancy word for direct inject high compression modern engine
If the Buick isn’t better, they really dropped the ball. They’re a near luxury car going up against the 3rd or 4th Asian import. Mazda’s not even a Hyundai at this point. They looks sporty, but cheap.
John Debest I tested both and must say was impressed by the Encore GX AWD, nice interior and peppy engine. Agree buy the Mazda or lease the Buick up to 4 years making sure not exeeding full guarantee duration. GM small turbo engines dont have a good reliability history....
@@renegarneau8956 I bought a Mazda Protege new in 1996 . Only 1 repair after 16 years ownership. Got a new 2012 Mazda 3 GT , 8 years later, zero problems. Mazda is the most underrated Japanese car out there. Also I would never buy a new model first year for anything, but especially an introduced car model.

If you owned a Jeep product why would you subscribe to CR for car info? Why do you think Forester is ranked best in segment but is one of the most recalled as a percentage of sales? Owners love the dealership coffee?
The customers both are targeting are more concerned with technology (especially infotainment)and general value, let's not forget fuel economy. The Mazda fails in those major category!
