  • Hey guys, just like promised, this is the second method on ROOTING the ASUS Transformer Pad 300. This process will Flash ClockWorksMod recovery on the Tablet and doing so will allow you to flash the ROOT-signed.zip :D
    NOTE: You need to have an UNLOCKED Bootloader, which does void your warranty. Also I am not responsible for the outcome of the device. Thanks!
    If you ONLY want to ROOT, try this Third method called DebugFS
    forum.xda-devel...
    What you need:
    Unlocked Bootloader
    www.asus.com/Ta...
    You can find it under Android then Utilities. The first option is to get the Unlocker tool.
    Android SDK for the Fastboot.exe command
    developer.andro...
    Recovery.img + Root-signed.zip - Provided by XpLoDWilD from XDA Developers
    forum.xda-devel...
    I recommend this root-signed.zip file can be gotten over here, Thanks Louis!
    db.tt/nC3aUAql
    and of course a Transformer 300 :P
    Commands used:
    fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery recovery.img
    fastboot -i 0x0B05 reboot

    Hey this Rooting method doesn't require you to use Voodoo OTA keeper as it can be applied to any firmware. If ever you update to another version, simply go back to CWM and flash the root-signed.zip and you should be good. As for Overclocking, you can only go to 1.2GHz with ROOT only while with a Custom ROM ie CM9 or AOKP you can go to 1.5GHz and have plenty of other added benefits. Soon I will be covering the ROMs for this Tablet :D

  • @allboutandroids
    @allboutandroids  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    CONTD: Flash the root-signed.zip. This will grant your Tablet Super user privileges and you should be all good.
    If you need any help, just comment or send a message and I'll see what I can do.

    Well, it took awhile. But I finally got it done. When rebooting the tablet, and youre waiting for that text in the upper left hand corner to come up, you have to be really fast. Took me over a dozen tries. But you know what? IM ROOTED !! Only took me what, 3 weeks? And when you run root checker to determine if you are rooted, run the app twice. The first time, the app told me I was unrooted. Imagine how discontented I was. I ran it again, and it showed that I was rooted. Thx Imraan.

    Johnathan...Exit out of your recovery. Reboot as if you're going into recovery. Hit the vol down to highlight the android icon. Hit volume up to select. Let it do it's thing. Reboot to recovery. If you continue tohold the vol dowdown and power button, you'll go straight into recovery. Hope this helps.
    Happy New Year!!!

    Uninstall Titanium Backup, then download and reinstall Titanium Backup. Then it should be set. Since you've got CWM now, you should be able to use ROM manager. I tried it once, didn't care for it, and uninstalled it. I've only used CWM recovery once, and it kinda jacked up my ROM, so I've stuck with TWRP as my recovery. Glad you got root, and that Imraan was able to help you.

    Hello amariodiaz7 from Columbia. Yep, this will work for you. No problems. If youre running 4.1.1 JB like you say you are, then this will work. If you don't have a recovery system, like TWRP, or CWM, that's shown in the video, you need to get one in place soon. Hope this helped you out.

    I don't have the usb icon when I try to get into recovery mod, instead I have RCK icon. When I click on it it gives me error. What do I do?

  • @OmegaRecon65
    @OmegaRecon65 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    To Davelifely. You can put the root zip file anywhere really. Most usually put it in the SD file. But as long as you can find the file to flash it. But to make things easy, put them both in the SD file of your tablet, and make copies and place those on your Micro SD Card. Might also consider getting a Dropbox account, and ANOTHER copy there.

  • @OmegaRecon65
    @OmegaRecon65 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey there Mike..
    Actually, Imraan. was nice enough to post it in the video description.
    Look for the file where it says "Thanks Louis" in the video description, and download that and flash from recovery.
    NOTE: If this doesn't work, then your blob file is corrupted or incomplete. Fix your blob file by downloading a COMPLETE version, then flash the new root update zip file.

    ASUS products come with Drivers, if you do not see the USB icon then they weren't loaded onto your PC. I recommend you go look them up under XDA for the Universal Drivers or even ASUS ones. That should help your issue.

    Do you have the Android SDK fastboot installed? If not you can find the link in the description, under the video. You'll need the fastboot to be able to run commands. Any other questions, just ask. :-)

  • @OmegaRecon65
    @OmegaRecon65 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Questions are a good thing Slicey80. Youre able to install the CWMR as your recovery. Try to do it soon, and when you do have recovery, make a couple backups of your system. Click on the link under the video description that says recovery.img. Go midway thru the website, and youll see the file. Place it in your file named recovery1 (make one). Use your fastboot cmd to send the file to your tablet. (Instructions under video description) After install, reboot, click on RCK. That is your recovery.

  • @OmegaRecon65
    @OmegaRecon65 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have installed this ROM using CWM and was blessed that I didn't have any issues. However, even the developer, Scott, recommends that you use TWRP to install the ROM. So, use TWRP. Developers will recommend what recovery system to use when you install their ROM's. Follow their advice unless they know for certain that another recovery system will work as well.
    If you need more help, either I, Imraan, or other viewer can try to help you out. Stay in touch.

    Hi Shuaib Hussain. Since were talking about a 700t, you might want to consider checking out XDA-developers, and doing a search on rooting/recovery for the 700t. You want to do some research to make sure its going to be compatible with your device. The developers on XDA are pretty much willing to help you out if you have questions. I hope this helped you a little bit.

      @Traemandir 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      in the Asus 4.2 update they changed it so there is no usb icon. Instead fastboot is always on. While you are at that screen with RCK ANDROID and WIPE, you don't have to press USB you are already in fastboot mode and can follow the rest of the video. Hopefully this makes sense ...

    No, the root-signed.zip file will grant the Tablet's OS Super User permissions. The modded OS will vary by name, based on the Developer's choice and all you need to do is to select that one in the Recovery to flash.

  • @OmegaRecon65
    @OmegaRecon65 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    To Madjab. Yes you can install apparently on your SD card. Some you can even run from your SD card. Others you cannot run from the SD, because they require certain access to run. Your micro SD card does not act as physical RAM for the tablet. It simply acts as storage and nothing more.

  • @OmegaRecon65
    @OmegaRecon65 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    (Contd) you can confirm your coonection by going into devices/printers in Windows and see if Fastboot is displayed. Almost everything is about the same, with a couple of minor changes.

    If the tablet is unlocked, you will no longer receive OTA updates. But you can always install updates from the website @ Asus. When you flash the updates, you will lose root & recovery. When you lose these, make sure you get your recovery flashed again. Think of it as a back door to your device, in case something happens.

    I upgraded my TF300T to Android 4.2.1 and then tried rooting. I can confirm the above procedure does not work with CWM 6.0.2.3. CWM fails to performs backups or recognize usb memory so the root zip can be installed.
    Selecting backup from the CWM menu generates the error
    Can't mount backup path.
    The good news is the unlocked tablet still functions fine!

  • @allboutandroids
    @allboutandroids  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you already Unlock the Bootloader? If that was not done, the fastboot command won't be able to write on the Boot partition. Also, please check for typos :)
    ~Imraan

  • @OmegaRecon65
    @OmegaRecon65 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Matthew: There's an updated zip root file listed in the video description, just under the video itself. Look for the file where it says "Thanks Louis". Download that into your SD card, flash from recovery, and you're set. Make a copy of it into your Micro SD card, so you'll have a backup.

  • @OmegaRecon65
    @OmegaRecon65 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Okay folks. To those having problems, try using TWRP instead of CWM. Try the latest version, and see if that will fix your problems. If not, repost, and we'll try to get it resolved.

  • @OmegaRecon65
    @OmegaRecon65 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes to the flash. You don't have to root to back up, but if you backup while you have root, a you'll have that info backed up as well

  • @allboutandroids
    @allboutandroids  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey man! This is happening most likely because the Recovery Image wasn't properly flashed. So I recommend you to Redownload the ZIP, extract the recovery and run the fastboot command again making sure everything that you type in is correct.
    ~Imraan

  • @allboutandroids
    @allboutandroids  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    As of right now there are only 2 methods. The one that involves Unlocking which you don't want to do and the other which is to use the Voodoo OTA Root keeper which would only work if you backed the SU root binaries when you werre on ICS before updating to the Jelly Release. If you have already used Voodoo OTA Root Keeper before simply redownload the app and click Restore, then update Superuser via the Play Store :)
    ~Imraan

  • @allboutandroids
    @allboutandroids  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    That most likely means that the Recovery image did not successfully get flashed. Redownload the file and run the fastboot command again making sure you type everything correctly. Try that out :)

    Hey man, technically ASUS' fastboot would install the drivers automatically when you connect the Tablet via USB and select the USB icon in the Bootloader menu. If you see the device for a while then it disappears, I have a feeling that the Drivers were not fully loaded. Anyway, if this method doesn't work, try the 3rd method using the DebugFS apk. It is similar to SparkyRoot which I made a video on. Now difference being DebugFS works on the latest .29 Firmware :)

    OK, we need to know if you're unlocked. When you start your tablet, in the upper right hand corner, does it say, "Device is unlocked"? If not click on the link in the video description that Imraan provided, to go to the Asus site and download the application into your tablet to unlock it. Youll have to download SDK manager from the link as well unto your laptop to get root.

    So first is the Unlocking of the Tablet's Bootloader. Reminder, this does void your warranty and since it has already updated to JB, this is the only method to give you ROOT. Anyway, flash at your own risk! Install the Official APK provided by ASUS and after a reboot you will have the Bootloader unlocked. Now, download the TWRP Recovery since it works on the TG version. Get the Jelly Bean also! Make sure! After that, Fastboot will flash it and then go to recovery to

    Hi. I tried following these instructions to gain root access to my tf300.
    I'm fairly sure I managed to unlock the bootloader by downloading the link above and just following the steps.
    I already had jelly bean installed from OTA update, so I used recovery-jb.img from a similar xda thread instead of the one you used, but renamed it just 'recovery.img' so I could follow your instructions exactly.
    When I boot my tablet the second time and press vol up it goes to an image of

    Help please, my computer is a x64 windows 7 and when I download the SDK I downloaded the x64 but, it didn't open. I read the comments to see if this problem was already solved and saw a comment that someone recommended to download the x32 version. So I deleted the x64 and downloaded the x32 but this time I could not find the SDK Manager program at all. Help?

    To Pagla. Yes. There's a root zip file update if you need it. You should be good to go. Just ask if you have more questions.

    Most likely the recovery blob that you flashed was not a complete download and has some bugs. I recommend redownloading the file and flashing it again. If CWM does not seem to work, simply switch over to the TWRP version :)

    Nice work on the video.
    I'm still waiting for my TF300TG and i've been searching for a good tutorial and i like yours best.
    I just have a question.
    Will this work on a tf300tG too?
    And is there a need to be careful with instructions on how to root between 300t and 300tg?

    To Bill, use the JB if you're using a JB device. I you use the non jb img file and you're using a JB device you can brick or soft brick the tablet.

    I have the ASUS TF300T and I did step by step all that you said in the video. My problem is in the final proces, that keeps frozen in the same screen of your tablet at second 7:40 of your video. It doesn't launch the recovery.
    Sorry for my "english", but i need your help.
    Thanks a lot.

    im not being given the choice to download the .exe file for the adt bundle, only the .zip file. when i download that, extract it to a folder in my main directory, and try to run eclipse from within the /eclipse folder, it tells me there is no JRT file in the directory.
    extremely frustrating, as all i want to do is root, currently the bootloader is unlocked, and im on 10.4.2.17
