BYD, the world's second-largest electric vehicle maker, already offers models like the Tang SUV and Seal sedan in Mexico. The new Shark pickup truck is priced at around $53,430 for the GL variant and $57,580 for the GS variant.
The Shark features a 1.5-liter turbo engine paired with two electric motors, delivering 430 horsepower. It can tow up to 5,511 pounds and has a payload capacity of 1,840 pounds. Its electric-only range is approximately 62 miles on the New European Driving Cycle.
The Shark's design includes a full-width LED light bar and a 12.8-inch rotating infotainment screen. It also offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. BYD plans to sell the Shark in Brazil, Europe, and Australia as well.
