Clair thank you for sharing your thoughts and sketches throughout your sketchbook tour. lots of variety of medium and wonderful work. I particularly appreciated your sketch on the riverbank. It was a great reminder to find your focus point. I look forward to your next video.
Loved watching this. I also find it interesting how you don't like what I really like and will use as inspiration. I tend to range from greater realism to greater abstract than you do. Also, just sitting beside the Yarra River (wherever you are, Warburton or somewhere else) - ah, tis lovely. We once tented along the Yarra behind the Warburton shops, I think it was, and in a Caravan Park. I did some sketches then, there......many years ago.
Hi Claire, Nice work! I particularly liked the pieces in the large sketchbook. You could take any one of those works and turn them into finished artwork. I could see the tide pool sketches done on a really large scale. Keep up the great videos.
YESSS! Friday afternoon, just came home from work, it started pouring rain shortly before I arrived home. Got completely wet, but now I am ready to enjoy your video!! Rainy greetings from me in Austria to you in Australia!! ❤️
The sketchbook you made looks like it would be so enjoyable to use! The size is nice…it looks big enough that you can get some really expressive line work etc. And I like how you bound the pages so that it lies flat. Agree with another commenter that a lot of your “practice” sketchbook work looks like it could be framed as-is. 🙂 Thank you for taking the time to film a sketchbook tour!
India ink is known to clog fountain pens. Platinum carbon ink is safe for fountain pens and wateeproof. Enjoying the look at your sketching progess! Thanks! 😊
@@ClairBremnerArtit’s the other way round. India ink can clog but only if you leave it unused for too long. Carbon black ink will clog any normal fountain pen very quickly. There used to be a Platinum Carbon ink fountain pen that had larger apertures and was less prone to clogging. In Europe the Platinum pen became unavailable last year. I haven’t checked recently but you might find you can still get it in Australi. It’s made in Japan.
Loved going through your sketchbook ❤ some great work in there. You inspired me to start painting in my watercolor pad. Did a spread. I had a question, though. I left my sketchbook open for 24 hrs to let the acrylic paint dry. But after closing it and later reopening it, the pages were getting stuck and some parts of the painting got slightly ruined. I'm keeping wax paper in between them now. But it's there a way to prevent this?
Unfortunately acrylic paint can stick the pages together. Some brands are worse then others, wax paper in between is a good trick. Using a matte finish paint can also stop it from sticking.
Clair, it's amazing what you think are no good and throw-aways, yet I think they should be framed and sold! Your sketchbook works are beautiful.
Oh thank you!
Great drawings and great tips. Thanks Clair.
So lovely to just kind of 'hang out' with you in your arty world in Australia Clair. I loved it! Greetings to all from yet another wild storm in Italy

What oils do you use? Brand? They do look very luminous. I do love looking at your art work
I'm using the Windsor and Newton Artisan water mixable oils
Your work is really good. Please try to be less critical of yourself
