Having lived in this area all my life ( Canterbury road was dirt when we first moved out this way.) I found this video fascinating thank you to everybody who put it together.
this is interesting. i have a paperbark, stringy bark and red gum trio planted long ago in my back yard. the red gum appears to have a coolamon carved out of it on the southern side, there is also a lot of scarring where red sap has been harvested and healed over on the lower part of the trunk. the stringybark tree appears to have a two meter scar the shape of a canoe carved out of it on the north east facing side. the paper bark grows and sheds a lot of bark so it is difficult to see scarring on it but i am sure paper bark was harvested from it as it is a useful bark. these trees are only a few meters apart from each other.
I migrated to Victoria, got a good job, bought a property, raised a family and now I feel nothing but guilt that all of this, everything I've taken pride in from my life, was done on land that was stolen from the Wurundjeri people and I don't know how to make it right.
Man up sell your home take the money and give it to aboriginals or sign it over to them … see how you feel then … also get your kids who may now be adults who have done the same to sell any property they have or sign it over …. And your friends too talk to them I’m surprised more people and selling their homes… 👍

also to add the redgum also has these knots that have healed over further up on the tree. it is so nice to know what all these scars are about.

Give back to the Aboriginal community in any way you can
