The Moody Blues is an experience every time I listen to them. My 1st experience was in 68', at 18, in the Navy, on board a Destroyer, out at sea. I had headphones on and from the 1st beat I was hooked! Sitting here today, at 71, with headphones on . . . it's just like the 1st time all over again, and again and . . . I love the Moody Blues!
Absolutely mate. It’s the one band who’s music you can listen to time and time again and it still sounds fresh as the day it was recorded. Great that Justin and John are keeping the flame alive on their solo gigs. Wish they’d do another Blue Jays album now the Moodies are defunct.

I am 60 also I was exposed to them when my older sister had 8 track tapes of them and albums. I would go in her room when she wasn’t home and listen to them for hours. Great band. I only started listening to them in high school.
Yeah the Moody blues found me a private boarding school in New Hampshire when I was in high school that’s why the song lazy day really resonates with me it describes perfectly our Sundays at the boarding school my favorite group instantly I’m in my 60s now there is still my favorite band especially my favorite English band

On this day July 4th I turned 76 . My life has been positively effected by The Moody Blues sense the mid , to late 60's . And I just discovered this lost album. They continue to enrich my spirit and feed my musical appetite. I am eternally grateful to them . The Veteran Cosmic Rockers
I first saw them at the California Ballroom Dunstable in 1967, although I have liked them since 'Go Now' I've lost count of how many times I have seen them since. Still one of the best bands around. Like you I am nearly 77 and have all there LP's and CD's. Never get fed up listening to them, although now they are really the 'Blue Jays'.

A wonderful band. Never went to the 'Cross Roads' like so many. Music ranging from Rock to Mystical to classic rolled into an amazing effect on emotions. BTW Satan buys the soul of the musician for fame and fortune when meeting at the 'Cross Roads'. A Great movie as well... 'Symphony for the Devil' a reminder of actuality
The Moody's are an essential part of my progress through life. I too got serious headphones and became memorized by their harmonious melodies, thoughtful lyrics and an elegant interpretation that offset the more trivial musicians that were too timid to challenge our deepest thoughts and emotions. I'm now starting my 8th decade of life and I still am enthralled by their introspection, and wondrous compositions.
This music unfolds like a picture book full of stars, where birds come spinning, spinning farandoles, cracking rattles and dancing wizards. From rounds to nursery rhymes, the arrangements display their mystery, the songs fill with fervor and the instruments have the roundness and brilliance of chimes 🌿🎋🍃
Very good compilation! I am 73 year-old and the Moodies are my favorite band since 1967, when I used to play in a rock'n'roll band. I have never stopped of listening them, An entire life as a fan of the band. The best, ever!
I’ve been following the Moodies since the mid 60’s. They are mUsical geniuses. Nothing compared to seeing them live. After “Go NOW” they brought in Justin Hayward, who song writing turned them into one of the best groups ever. Mike Pinder invented the ‘Mellotron’, the grandfather of the Moog. Ray Thomas was my favorite though. Sadly Ray Thomas passed away the night before their induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
Mike Pinder worked at Streetly Electronics for 18 months in the early 1960s as a tester, but he did not invent the mellotron. It's initial creation is credited to American, California-based Harry Chamberlin' and his Musicmaster 600 instruments. It's final form involves a number of people and is somewhat complex. The instrument was ungainly, heavy and temperamental, easily affected by temperature and humidity. Pinder's technical understanding of the instrument was an added plus in the Moodies, he being usually able to repair or adjust any glitches. The Moodies were not, however, the first UK rock and roll band to make use of the mellotron, that distinction goes to Graham Bond. Robert Moog's famous synthesizer first appeared in 1964, debuting commercially in 1965, roughly two years after the mellotron, though the two instruments were not alike.
I recall hearing "GO NOW" on my first tiny transister radio while in high school (am 74 now). Have little doubt if Denny Laine and Clint Warwick had not left the band and make room for Justin and John, the Moody Blues would have been a "One hit wonder" and likely would have never been heard from again. Surely Justin would have made his mark in the music world, just not as we know him now. Saw the band live 20+ times. See Justin's and John's solo shows whenever they are near. Met John in Hartford CT in 2020. Would be great if someone could convince Justin to tour with John once more before the opportunity is lost.
It is sad that the Moody Blues' induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame came after Ray Thomas' death. It should have happened decades earlier. I put it down to a kind of snobbery by music critics who always looked down on the band, although the public loved them and bought their records by the millions.
I am with you there Jim. I am 72 and remember hearing "Go Now" on my first tiny transistor radio in my high school years. Saw the whole band something like twenty five times and go to every one of Justin's and John's solo shows that are nearby - and not so nearby sometimes. I met John in Hartford CT last year - a real gentleman.
@@timothyantoine5321 Moraz is the soul and colour of the early eighties Moodies' albums. After he was sacked unfairly the quality of the band dropped. Said by somebody who considers them the best band ever before they just got consumed by mediocrity.

Shoot. This band and the solo artists seems to have a bottomless reservoir of very melodic beautiful songs. How come I only ever hear "Nights in White Satin"? During the lickdown I dug deeper into this band, getting their core 7 albums. They were so great, I bought the rest, which were very good as well. And now this, which I've never heard. I realize it is the solo work, but it is excellent. My head continues to spin. Criminally underrated band!!
By now you have been through the core 7? Since all 7 are more or less "concept albums,", another fine way to listen is in a darkened, mood lit room , no video, under headphones, with whatever means you use to put yourself into a meditative state - from beginning to end , without interruption.
@@SuperFacen The way you describe is EXACTLY how MB insisted that the record company producers/executives listened to each album for the first time and they didn't let them hear singles, practice sessions, or recording sessions until the entire album was complete and ready for YOUR treatment, sit in a recliner and chill! Listening any other way is a diminished experience although the individual cuts are also great. No executive ever suggested changes or different song orders after that, they just said, "I got nothing, let's cut this thing." There were always enough hot singles anyway so they covered that base and albums were the new moneymakers, you didn't want fans grabbing up 45s of the hits ( 45s remember those groovy thangs?) so smart bands were aiming for that market. Concept albums or albums with all hits (thinking Led Zep, Beatles, Stones etc.) with no filler songs made the albums sell along with the art and lyrics etc..
The most underrated, underappreciated, overcriticized 60s band! Justin Hayward, the most underrated singer, songwriter and guitarist! What a voice! What songs! I saw a video about the band that I thought was a tribute but turned out to be a mixed bag of positive and negative reviews. Someone made fun of my favorite song, "Question," saying it was somehow bad, dumb or something negative to ask the questions he asks, namely, "Why do we never get an answer when we're knocking at the door, with a thousand million questions about hate and death and war." I thought, asshole! I think of those lyrics as intensely profound and emotionally moving human commentary. Then on top of that there's the unusual and roller coaster of the aggressive questioning of humanity's insanities with the tender loving tribute to a love: "It's not the way that you say it, when you do those things to me, it's the more the way you really mean it, when you tell me what will be..." Such beauty, tenderness, power in every way. I finally saw a clip of the Moodies' R&R Hall of Fame acceptance and it was a complete shambles. Members not even paying attention. I recognized a very changed Mike Pinder just chit chatting with someone. The first person to speak was unidentified and unrecognized, and he even said he didn't think anyone would know him. Right! There's only one lineup that counts, the one with Pinder, whose mellotron I consider the "sound" of the Moody Blues. Someone in the video also put down the mellotron! They have always been my all time sentimental as well as musical favorite. And of course people also condemned their transition to a more pop sound. So where did all this material come from? Outtakes? Songs not on albums? Why wouldn't they be? OH, and does anyone wonder why the great producer Tony Clarke is never mentioned let alone thanked for his pivotal role? Unbelievable.
This could have been a great set list for a Final Grand Tour if they all had stayed together long enough... Grand example of their depth, talents, and influence... I’ve been a fan for 52 years, and I’m convinced that they are the reason I’ve made it to 69 years old... I can only imagine what they will produce when they reunite in the next phase of their cosmic journey... God bless the Moody Blues...
Hey jr8870, I've also been a fan since I was 17, and now I'm the same age as you man. And I feel the same way about the MB's as you. Their lyrics helped shaped my personality, my sense of self, my attitude towards life...and I've been to about a hundred concerts of both the whole band (including Pinder & of course, Ray) and Justin's tours.

I have been listening to the moody's for the last forty out of sixty-two years of my life. I have seen them thirteen times. The only song I wish they would do. Well let me refrained that their are only two members left. But the only song I wish they would do. Wish was relesd by these two. Is Nights winter years off the Blue Jay's album. I highly recommend you listen to it full volume .

Try Isn't Life Strange almost every morning at the end of 1972... LOL (I ended up buying every classic 7 albums and almost all their later and solo albums!!!) My favorite songs change from time to time and life circumstances, but Emily's song, You can Never Go Home, When you are a Free man, Watching and Waiting, and of course... Isn't Life Strange hold a very special place in my life journey. A great big heartfelt THANK YOU to Graeme Edge, Ray Thomas, Mike Pinder, Justin Hayward, and John Lodge!!! I am a better person for having discovered and grown though enjoying and sharing your beautiful tunes, melodies, instrumentals...
Love this group and the positive messages in the music, I was introduced to them when I was 12 in 1968 with In Search of the Lost Chord, my brother taught me to meditate to them that Christmas and since that day I have listened to them been to two live concerts, but I know that with out their music in my life I would not have made it through, my mom had MS when I was born and my dad had a stroke when I was 14 my mom was devastated she went from a walker to a wheelchair in the days following. My dad lost the use of his right side and speech and through it all were the notes and messages from these songs that is just a side note of how my life changed because of their music.
Moody Blues are finished as a touring band since the retirement of Graeme Edge. All we have left now is the music, so it’s great to hear these compilations. We can IMAGINE it’s a new Moodies album, cause we’re never gonna get a real new one. Thanks for the posting.
More on the Hall of Fame "ceremony." It was like, how can we feel so dazzled by this "honor" at this stage, over 50 years after bursting onto the scene with the groundbreaking Day of Future Passed? Talk about anticlimactic! 4 great singer songwriters. Love Pinder's material, so spiritual and mystical. Ray's beauty and psychedelia. Lodge's masterful rock classics! the 4-part harmonies. That gorgeous mellotron. Higher and higher!
This is not, not NOT a legitimate "lost Moody Blues album". It is songs from various solo projects, and even one lesser know MB song ("My Little Lovely"), strung together to resemble a MB album. "Get Me Out of Here", "In My Mind" and "10,000 Light Years Ago" are all taken from John Lodge's 2015 solo album. "The Trouble With Memories" is a 2010 download only single that featured Ray Thomas and former MB touring keyboardist Bias Boshell. "Captivated By You" is from Justin Hayward's solo album "Spirits Of the Western Sky", etc.

GO NOW started it all and I was helping her go in thru the bathroom window as it happened.... Windowpanes...Batman Blues.... Sunshine Superman.... only allowed interdimensional appreciation to something truly sublime in any state of mind..... Live performances were a state of Nirvana all on their own but starlit nites curled up with a skin2skin aficionado are the thots that linger with the replayed sounds. Oklahoma City was my last live viewing.... very warm spot in my heart. Moody's Forever

I made this a few years ago and ended up becoming friends with Lee Thomas in the process. In my original upload, I explained that this is purely fan-made and give links to all of the albums the songs came off of. I'm not sure who this is who reposted the 'album' but I'm just happy it's out there and people are hearing it.
Not exactly a lost album. Like many replies here, I’ve also been a massive Moody’s/ Justin Hayward fan since time began. Met them one several occasions, had over 60 signed copies and managed to see every London concert to date. Had some wonderful and rare memorabilia. Absolutely loved there Blue Jays concert, shame they never did a Blue Jays 2. Love to everyone that kept them making beautiful music😘
As someone else said, it is not an album. It's compilation, mostly of things they did when they split up. Pinder I don't think ever rejoined the group to tour after they completed their contract to complete I think 7 albums. But without him all of those amazing theme-based albums of the Moody Blues would never have taken place.
The closest "reunion" would be John Lodge's "Simply Magic" from 10,000 Light Years Ago, which has Mike and Ray on it. The fact that it wasn't included in this hypothetical album is a bit of a head scratcher.

Justin Hayward has one of the best melodic voices in the history of popular music. Still has it today too.

Robert Moog's famous synthesizer first appeared in 1964, debuting commercially in 1965, roughly two years after the mellotron, though the two instruments were not alike.
I recall hearing "GO NOW" on my first tiny transister radio while in high school (am 74 now). Have little doubt if Denny Laine and Clint Warwick had not left the band and make room for Justin and John, the Moody Blues would have been a "One hit wonder" and likely would have never been heard from again. Surely Justin would have made his mark in the music world, just not as we know him now. Saw the band live 20+ times. See Justin's and John's solo shows whenever they are near. Met John in Hartford CT in 2020. Would be great if someone could convince Justin to tour with John once more before the opportunity is lost.

It is sad that the Moody Blues' induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame came after Ray Thomas' death. It should have happened decades earlier. I put it down to a kind of snobbery by music critics who always looked down on the band, although the public loved them and bought their records by the millions.
I'm 73 years old I have been listening to the moodies since go now Seen them in several concerts.

Shoot. This band and the solo artists seems to have a bottomless reservoir of very melodic beautiful songs. How come I only ever hear "Nights in White Satin"? During the lickdown I dug deeper into this band, getting their core 7 albums. They were so great, I bought the rest, which were very good as well. And now this, which I've never heard. I realize it is the solo work, but it is excellent. My head continues to spin. Criminally underrated band!!

By now you have been through the core 7? Since all 7 are more or less "concept albums,", another fine way to listen is in a darkened, mood lit room , no video, under headphones, with whatever means you use to put yourself into a meditative state - from beginning to end , without interruption.
@@SuperFacen The way you describe is EXACTLY how MB insisted that the record company producers/executives listened to each album for the first time and they didn't let them hear singles, practice sessions, or recording sessions until the entire album was complete and ready for YOUR treatment, sit in a recliner and chill!
Listening any other way is a diminished experience although the individual cuts are also great.
No executive ever suggested changes or different song orders after that, they just said, "I got nothing, let's cut this thing." There were always enough hot singles anyway so they covered that base and albums were the new moneymakers, you didn't want fans grabbing up 45s of the hits ( 45s remember those groovy thangs?) so smart bands were aiming for that market. Concept albums or albums with all hits (thinking Led Zep, Beatles, Stones etc.) with no filler songs made the albums sell along with the art and lyrics etc..
I would put Octave in the mix as well, making 8 albums . And their solo albums were great too, particularly Blue Jays and From Mighty Oaks.

The most underrated, underappreciated, overcriticized 60s band! Justin Hayward, the most underrated singer, songwriter and guitarist! What a voice! What songs! I saw a video about the band that I thought was a tribute but turned out to be a mixed bag of positive and negative reviews. Someone made fun of my favorite song, "Question," saying it was somehow bad, dumb or something negative to ask the questions he asks, namely, "Why do we never get an answer when we're knocking at the door, with a thousand million questions about hate and death and war." I thought, asshole! I think of those lyrics as intensely profound and emotionally moving human commentary. Then on top of that there's the unusual and roller coaster of the aggressive questioning of humanity's insanities with the tender loving tribute to a love: "It's not the way that you say it, when you do those things to me, it's the more the way you really mean it, when you tell me what will be..." Such beauty, tenderness, power in every way.
I finally saw a clip of the Moodies' R&R Hall of Fame acceptance and it was a complete shambles. Members not even paying attention. I recognized a very changed Mike Pinder just chit chatting with someone. The first person to speak was unidentified and unrecognized, and he even said he didn't think anyone would know him. Right! There's only one lineup that counts, the one with Pinder, whose mellotron I consider the "sound" of the Moody Blues. Someone in the video also put down the mellotron!
They have always been my all time sentimental as well as musical favorite.
And of course people also condemned their transition to a more pop sound.
So where did all this material come from? Outtakes? Songs not on albums? Why wouldn't they be?
OH, and does anyone wonder why the great producer Tony Clarke is never mentioned let alone thanked for his pivotal role? Unbelievable.

This could have been a great set list for a Final Grand Tour if they all had stayed together long enough... Grand example of their depth, talents, and influence... I’ve been a fan for 52 years, and I’m convinced that they are the reason I’ve made it to 69 years old... I can only imagine what they will produce when they reunite in the next phase of their cosmic journey... God bless the Moody Blues...
Hey jr8870, I've also been a fan since I was 17, and now I'm the same age as you man. And I feel the same way about the MB's as you. Their lyrics helped shaped my personality, my sense of self, my attitude towards life...and I've been to about a hundred concerts of both the whole band (including Pinder & of course, Ray) and Justin's tours.

I have been listening to the moody's for the last forty out of sixty-two years of my life. I have seen them thirteen times. The only song I wish they would do. Well let me refrained that their are only two members left. But the only song I wish they would do. Wish was relesd by these two. Is Nights winter years off the Blue Jay's album. I highly recommend you listen to it full volume .

I love the Moody Blues and tonight is the first time I listen to the lost album , it is talking to my youth all the way to my present, today, it’s magic , what a joy to my heart, I go back in time and loving every seconds of it, even right now at 68, I can fly again at this moment…so free …hum!!!!

Try Isn't Life Strange almost every morning at the end of 1972... LOL (I ended up buying every classic 7 albums and almost all their later and solo albums!!!) My favorite songs change from time to time and life circumstances, but Emily's song, You can Never Go Home, When you are a Free man, Watching and Waiting, and of course... Isn't Life Strange hold a very special place in my life journey. A great big heartfelt THANK YOU to Graeme Edge, Ray Thomas, Mike Pinder, Justin Hayward, and John Lodge!!! I am a better person for having discovered and grown though enjoying and sharing your beautiful tunes, melodies, instrumentals...
Love this group and the positive messages in the music, I was introduced to them when I was 12 in 1968 with In Search of the Lost Chord, my brother taught me to meditate to them that Christmas and since that day I have listened to them been to two live concerts, but I know that with out their music in my life I would not have made it through, my mom had MS when I was born and my dad had a stroke when I was 14 my mom was devastated she went from a walker to a wheelchair in the days following. My dad lost the use of his right side and speech and through it all were the notes and messages from these songs that is just a side note of how my life changed because of their music.

Moody Blues are finished as a touring band since the retirement of Graeme Edge. All we have left now is the music, so it’s great to hear these compilations. We can IMAGINE it’s a new Moodies album, cause we’re never gonna get a real new one. Thanks for the posting.

More on the Hall of Fame "ceremony." It was like, how can we feel so dazzled by this "honor" at this stage, over 50 years after bursting onto the scene with the groundbreaking Day of Future Passed? Talk about anticlimactic! 4 great singer songwriters. Love Pinder's material, so spiritual and mystical. Ray's beauty and psychedelia. Lodge's masterful rock classics! the 4-part harmonies. That gorgeous mellotron. Higher and higher!

This is not, not NOT a legitimate "lost Moody Blues album". It is songs from various solo projects, and even one lesser know MB song ("My Little Lovely"), strung together to resemble a MB album. "Get Me Out of Here", "In My Mind" and "10,000 Light Years Ago" are all taken from John Lodge's 2015 solo album. "The Trouble With Memories" is a 2010 download only single that featured Ray Thomas and former MB touring keyboardist Bias Boshell. "Captivated By You" is from Justin Hayward's solo album "Spirits Of the Western Sky", etc.

Listening straight or cosmically released... I've been a Moody's Maniac before their introduction to this side of the pond.... GO NOW started it all and I was helping her go in thru the bathroom window as it happened.... Windowpanes...Batman Blues.... Sunshine Superman.... only allowed interdimensional appreciation to something truly sublime in any state of mind..... Live performances were a state of Nirvana all on their own but starlit nites curled up with a skin2skin aficionado are the thots that linger with the replayed sounds.
Oklahoma City was my last live viewing.... very warm spot in my heart. Moody's Forever

Would be great if the Moodies did these songs together as an album wether solo or with the band, they are great all individual talents like the Beatles were. It's not an Album...its different songs from various albums put together like an album. Read through comments..you'll find explanation. It is good though!
I made this a few years ago and ended up becoming friends with Lee Thomas in the process. In my original upload, I explained that this is purely fan-made and give links to all of the albums the songs came off of. I'm not sure who this is who reposted the 'album' but I'm just happy it's out there and people are hearing it.

Not exactly a lost album. Like many replies here, I’ve also been a massive Moody’s/ Justin Hayward fan since time began. Met them one several occasions, had over 60 signed copies and managed to see every London concert to date. Had some wonderful and rare memorabilia. Absolutely loved there Blue Jays concert, shame they never did a Blue Jays 2. Love to everyone that kept them making beautiful music😘
As someone else said, it is not an album. It's compilation, mostly of things they did when they split up. Pinder I don't think ever rejoined the group to tour after they completed their contract to complete I think 7 albums. But without him all of those amazing theme-based albums of the Moody Blues would never have taken place.
The closest "reunion" would be John Lodge's "Simply Magic" from 10,000 Light Years Ago, which has Mike and Ray on it. The fact that it wasn't included in this hypothetical album is a bit of a head scratcher.
That long John Lodge track is tasty - better than most stuff they've pumped out in the last fifty years.
