My aunt's guinea pig cage is like 4-5×2 feet for two of them, but they get at least an hour outside the cage minimum. They'll nip you if they want to go back to their cage to use the toilet
@Texting Story 2019 that is awesome! I have cats so I can't do that. The piggy aren't scared of the cats and the cats aren't scared of piggies. Just in case, we can't have the piggies free roaming.
I have that exact cage and I cannot tell you how happy my hamster was when she went from a tiny two floor kaytee cage to that one. She wasn't biting the bars anymore, she had a way larger wheel, and you could tell by her body language that she was comfortable and happy.
@@danielleholm5079 gerbils need a deep tank with lots of bedding and chew toys with different textures and also a 12 inch wheel. This cage isn't suitable because of the base not being deep enough and they can easily chew through plastic
Charlotte Forrester, I actually kinda already got this cage... but I did check to make sure it was hard plastic and I have a 12inch dig box I the cage, also they do have a bunch of big and small chew toys, a sand bath and two 8.5 inch wheels, although I’m planning on getting a 12 inch one. I am happy with this cage and glad my poor gerbil isn’t in a tiny tales cage anymore. Also after a rough start I got her, Punk my gerbil, bonded with another gerbil, Snow white, and they are much happier in this cage.
I actually have this cage! I was surprised because it was bigger than I thought it was when I bought it! I don’t regret it and my Syrian hamster adores it!💕
I’ve never even seen or heard of this cage before, but they should definitely sell these in pet stores! Also I don’t know if Ms. Frizzle is a big chewer or not, but that could play a part as to why she keeps biting the bars (even though she has so many chew toys which makes no sense.) She could just be very active as well and will want to get out no matter what cage she is in!
Emminade she is a normal chewer. She does love her chew toys. But I always provide enough variety of chews. She has since settled down in her cage since making this video back in May only with the occasional chewing on bars but not always.
Emminade, Sometimes you can find them in pet stores, but the price is ridiculous, over $100.00. Currently, (January 2, 2020), Amazon is selling it for $69.99, while Tractor Supply Co. is having their Winter Sale, where it's going for $59.99. You do have to order it online from TSC, and if you're willing to have it sent to your nearest TSC, where you will pick it up, shipping is free, at least if I read things correctly. I don't know how long their sale will go on. If you ever want this cage, go online to find the best price.
My hamster taka had a kaytee cage that he kept escaping but we always found him. one day i decided getting a bigger cage would be a good idea, so I ordered this with one day shipping.the night that i ordered it he went missing agian, for the final time. I waited a month or two for him but, nothing and we never saw him again. Now my hamster kovu lives in it and he loves it. Sorry for the long story.
Kaytee cages are awful, they fall apart so ridiculously easy. I had a mouse that died when I carrying the cage. The tube on the side very lightly knocked against a doorway and fell off onto the hard floor about 5 feet below. The mouse was in it, had a seizure and died. I will always feel guilty even though I know it's also Kaytee's fault for making and selling these dangerous cages. Kaytee can go to h*ll.
This is such a mood booster this was the cage I wanted for my dwarf hamster since I knew big was best and I sadly needed a cage sooner then expected still nice to see an actual review of the cage
I let my hamster run around my room and I let him decide when he wanted to go in his cage. The only time I would put him in locked up is when I left the house just for safety. I made a cardboard maze and we had toys and different obstacles around the room to entertain him when we slept. I also slept on a mattress on the the floor so he would climb up and down. He really loved that. I think what is important is letting them explore with supervision and lining your doorways and walls so they can't hurt themselves. When I would come home from work, my hamster would greet me because he would hear me come in, climb out of his cage and run to my feet. It was adorable!
Christine interesting, I wish I trained my hamster earlier I have one but there was so much more I could’ve done, cool idea tho, very interesting indeed
I am SO happy you're doing an unboxing of this cage! I remember seeing it when I was looking to upgrade my guy but I wasn't sure of the bar spacing so I stayed away. Definitely going to consider this for any hamsters I get in the (very far) future
I ordered this cage before I got my new hamster right after watching this video! I was struggling to find appropriate sized cages that weren’t a bin cage or a aquarium tank so I just wanted to say thank you so much for posting this video and sharing this awesome cage! My hamster has a lot of space to play. 💕
I'm planning on getting my syrian a barred cage too. She absolutely loves climbing and I feel like it's mean of me to deny her that in a tank. I can't wait to get her something that she'd enjoy much more than her tank. :)
I absolutely love this cage--I actually have two! One for my Syrian (Bella) and one for my mice (Angel, Demonia, and Lilith). Bella is definitely a climber, too, so I put in a bird ladder and some ferret hammocks so if she does stumble while climbing she can catch herself on them and not get hurt. Bella LOVES her Prevue cage and I'm so glad I got it for her!
I have this cage for my Syrian, Sunshine. She seems so love it and there's so much space for her to run around! Sunshine looks almost exactly like Ms. Frizzle!
I can't rave about this cage enough! It's a great size for a syrian. I like the comparisons you did. Not a fan of the storage totes at all and of course the pet store cages are a no-brainer. My syrian is like spiderman; he climbs the wires all the time but roams all around as well. He has a wonderful loft as well. Sooo there was one little problem with this great cage and that is the ramp. It is a slick type of plastic. He slipped in place on the way up and slid on his way down. I went to the local dollar store, bought a thin door mat/rug, cut it to size and glued it to the ramp. I also glued 2 2" walls on either side of the ramp so he can't fall off for my own piece of mind. It makes it so much easier for him; there is no slipping any more. This carpet makes great texture for his traction. Worth every penny from Amazon, I paid the same amount btw.
I love that cage Munchie, at first I thought oh the Alaska Cage in black the first time I saw it in Amazon. This cage is going to be amazing as its the least expensive cage out of the Americas Cages.
I was researching hamster care and cages since i plan surprising my son with a hamster for his birthday. (He's been begging me). He is 8 and I will be supervising him at all times with playing, cleaning, and all that before I feel like he can handle it on his own. I am so glad I found your channel. I've already learned so much just from watching a few videos. When I was googling hamster cages almost all of the results were from the kaytee brand and other tiny, colorful, plastic cages. I think it's a huge problem and I'm so glad I didn't end up wasting my money on those horrible cages. So thank you for educating me!
My hamster currently has a very small cage, and I’ve been looking around for a good sized wire cage, and you’ve finally introduced me to one, and now sunny is going to very pleased with her new cage! ☀️🐹
Wow, I never thought that much about it, but after watching a few of the bad cage reviews and then seeing this, I really see what you mean about needing proper space and enrichment for hamsters. If I decide to get one, I will definitely make sure to take this on board and get a cage at least as big as the one in this video.

I’m five years late, but after a lot of research I decided to choose this cage for my first hamster. I’ve had Ruckus for around a month now, and he seems to really like it! I would still recommend 5 years later
Just got these cages for 3 Syrian hamsters. They seem to really love them and it makes me happy to know they’re comfortable. Thanks for recommending these! For some reason it’s oddly difficult to find properly sized cages in the United States. And you definitely won’t find one in a pet store.
Never realised how big this cage really is. I'm extremely happy I bought 6 of them for my 6 hamsters. Bad part is not that I have to put 6 of them together but to figure out where the levels will go
Getting this for my hamster in a few days!! I got him about a week ago and he's been in a beginner cage. Way too small. Can't wait to see him run around in this!!
I go this cage and I didn't realize how big it was my mom wasn't happy about it but I kept stressing to her that it was a good size for my robo she thought 200 feet was enough for him
Your such a good person this made me smile because even though she wont be staying with you her whole life you are trying to make her as comfortable as possible!😊
I’m so happy I came across this video! I actually just ordered this cage before watching this video and I was a bit nervous to see if it was a good cage because I’m a first time hamster and I’m glad to see I’ve made the right choice! Also you’re videos are sooo helpful thanks!
I've had this cage for 7 months and I absolutely love it. I particularly like that it has such tight bar spacing, it houses one of my robo dwarf hamsters and I never have to worry about him escaping or getting stuck.
Thank you for the review of this cage, and the cleaning one too. I'm still researching, as I'm not ready to get a new pet as of yet, but am considering for future. I am seriously thinking this would be the best option for a cage if I get a hamster, so I am thankful for the vids on it.
Got my first hamster close to two months ago. He's a robo. I don't know if I could own that many at once, but I sure love the one I have. Good on you for rescuing.
i actually have prevue's largest bird cage (the Hendryx) for my tiny celestial parrotlet, he loves the space so much! plus it's easier to clean that his old cage (the one he came in was very small, i'm keeping it as a carrier for when we move) I don't get why so many people think small equals easier to clean/ it's generally the opposite for me.
I live in Australia so hamsters are not allowed because they are considered as pests (which is totally wrong) but I have two wonderful guinea pigs which I spoil and love with all my heart they are my best friends! But still I watch ur vids because they are amazing and some of the things like chew toys are also used for guinea pigs! I luv ur channel and ur content keep on working hard!!❤️❤️
Emily Hamilton well no only hamsters are considered as pests I am as quite as confused 😐 as well on that matter but rabbits and mice r definitely allowed hope this helped u answer u question 😊
Watching your videos, even if it points out more of the pet peeves of owning hamsters, makes me want a couple hamsters. I love taking care of animals. And I love how you also point out problems and things you need to avoid if you want to care for hamsters.
I had the exact same problem with the platform not sitting flat at first. After some time of getting frustrated and fiddling around with it I eventually got it flat. I thought mine might be warped but I got it to sit flat so apparently not. I think the trick is not to tighten up the screws all the way at first. Put them in just far enough to hold the platform up one at a time. Then once they're all and go around and tighten them up it seemed to help me.
I got this cage and my family calls it the hamster mansion! It was 75$ when I got it and my hamster (teddy bear hamster named pumpkin) loves it and I give him lots of room to burrow! I'm pretty sure he loves it and it is so easy to clean! I love to see another hamster owner use this cage!
I'm so glad I found your channel! For the longest I've been housing my hammies in aquariums with screen tops, but they're so bulky and I feel like they prohibit proper air flow. I'm excited to try this cage out soon!
I just bought the same cage for my three gerbils. They are so happy now that they are out of their store bought cage. Tons of room to run and tunnel and sleep. The platform has two wheels, food dish and bottle with tons of space left. They are active non stop. I bought this cage after watching your review and it’s the best decision for our gerbils. Names are Moe, Larry and Curly lol😀
Love your videos last time I had a hamster i was 17 and didn't know much and always had those tiny cages. I was looking into getting another hamster at 23 but your videos will have me better prepared in the future.
IM SO EXCITED I GOT THIS CAGE FOR CHRISTMAS AND IM GONNA GET A HAMSTER TOMORROW!!!!!! Yayyy Edit: I GOT A SUPER DUPER CUTE WHITE LONG HAIRED SYRIAN❤️❤️❤️❤️he’s sooo cute I love him 🥰🥰
I like the idea of using a climb down bowl for the sand bath…it makes it more challenging and she can really play around in the sand. Thanks for the idea!
So excited that I found your channel and all the other helpful hamster channels! I am getting my first hamster as an adult (had one as a small child but my parents cared for it) in 2 weeks. My coworkers accidentally had babies so I get one! I had no idea what to feed it or how big the cage needed to be. Thank you for educating me! Before even watching this video, I found this cage online and purchased it! So excited for it to come in and set it up before my hammy is ready for adoption!
You need to stop doing such great hauls because I’m broke but can’t help myself from buying most of the stuff in your hauls after getting your opinion on them 😂
This is the exact enclosure I have for my syrian! She seems to like it. There are definitely bigger cages out there, but this one is just fine. It feels a tiny bit small, but it's a decent amount over the minimum. and i know that you know now, but that definitely wasn't enough bedding. also all of the plastic and bars were fine for me
I have the same cage for my Syrian and I never realized before but he loves to climb so I had to move him from his bin cage to the pervue and he loves it
How often do you clean the cage? I am planning to get this cage and I read somewhere that you could not change the bedding every week but every week and a half or even 2
Just bought this cage after watching your video!! I plan on building my own lil girl an extra large hammy mansion, but that’ll most likely, and realistically, take a year or longer. My sweet Nugget can’t wait that long, so this cage will be perfect for her in the interim... Thank you so much for sharing!!
I figured that I would look at your reviews first before investing in a new enclosure. I have my eyes on the Caspian Weather Resistant enclosure, which is identical to this one. I'm sold. Thanks Munchie!
I have this cage for my winter white dwarf hamster and it is perfect for him. The bar spacing is plenty small enough and he loves to climb the bars and use the ramp. So if you want this cage and a dwarf hamster you have nothing to worry about. This cage is great for all types of hamsters INCLUDING dwarfs.
Im thinking on getting this cage for my first hamster it seems simple to put together, i got a good amount of room for it, i have the money for it. It looks nice
Thank you for inspiring others. I adopted a little robo yesterday that someone abandoned in a clothes store! What makes it worse is the pet shop they could have surrendered him to was right across the street!! 😡 I need to get him a detolf upgrade the same as my Syrian, but he’s very happy in this cage at the moment. I’ve already noticed how much more lively he is than my Syrian, although my Syrian runs for hours a night, my robo more runs around and explores, and will come out during the day too
Hey munchie! I love your channel I’ve been watching you for more info on my hamster and you’ve helped 100%. Your the best hamster youtuber and thank you! I have one question 😅! What sand do you use for your sand baths and what’s safe?
hey there, I have no idea if you know of what sand to get now, but I thought I'd help out anyway! Reptisand is a good option (I personally use it for my hamster, and she loves it! It's a ideal option if you want to buy appropriate sand right out of a bag.) In fact, most sand that's safe for hamsters is reptile sand or aquarium sand. Just make sure it isnt calcium sand because it is dangerous to hamsters. Chinchilla dust and the Tiny Friends Farm sand is also bad for your hammy, both can cause respiratory issues You can also buy a bag of play sand, but be aware that you have to sanitize it first before using it by baking it. It's the cheapest option. There is plenty of more info out there, I suggest taking a peek at some hamstery websites (like Hubba Hubba Hamstery) as those are filled with good advice, as well as care articles and topics about things suitable for hamsters. Bonus: if you're looking for a jar similar to the one Munchie has, check out Hobby Lobby! I found one very similar to hers there, just make sure to clean it before using it! Good luck! 😁
I actually bought this cage for my two dwarfs! They love burrowing in how deep the base is and a lot of room for toys and a big sand bath! The only thing is that they have trouble getting up and down the second story ladder.. my only worry is my cats can possibly push open the top lid when I’m sleeping since I didn’t get two guard things? Only one. But overall I love the cage :)
im getting this for christmas! i cannot wait :D but i have to choose if my hamster Pippy should get an 116 qt bin, or this. and the other cage will go to my group of 4 mice. Because half of them love climbing and the others dont care that much. and Pippy likes to climb too! idk :(
My bhamster went from a critter trail then i realized it wasn’t suitable so I put him in the 10 gallon tank that I had and order this cage.My hamster loves going on the ramp and made tunnels around the whole cage. He is so happy!
I got this as well on amazon while on sale. Hammy still started biting until I added a lot more toys and accessories and she's bites a lot less....like not much at all. Highly recommend this cage as well as adding accessories
Hmm good question. I wouldn't know how well they can get out. The bars are pretty small but if you did happen to get this cage, you could always put mesh over the wires. Amazon also as a pretty good return policy too if it doesn't work out.
Munchie's Place cool! Sucks it costs 10000 to ship to where I am 😭😭😭 EDIT ... its $141 to ship from amazon.ca, free shipping , but amazon.com ships to Canada for a small loan of a million dollars
Nooby Cuber an adult mouse MIGHT ok, maybe try to let them have playtime in it and watch if they can leave and maybe try keeping the cage in a closed small area, if they can however, just cover it with mesh
Since you were saying you didn't know if dwarves would like this cage, I thought I would mention that my Robo lives in the 528 and he loves it. He even uses the platform and some hanging chews and toys
Note: Outdated care standards are shown in this video I filmed in 2018.

Getting this for my hamster in a few days!! I got him about a week ago and he's been in a beginner cage. Way too small. Can't wait to see him run around in this!!
I go this cage and I didn't realize how big it was my mom wasn't happy about it but I kept stressing to her that it was a good size for my robo she thought 200 feet was enough for him
Emma Bateman 200 feet is definitely plenty of space for a Robo. Good choice.
ThunderDrummer no it’s not
Scarlet Sparks feet not inches
Giuliana Popoff oh ok sorry
Scarlet Sparks not meant to be mean 👍🏻🙂
Your such a good person this made me smile because even though she wont be staying with you her whole life you are trying to make her as comfortable as possible!😊
that hamster is so freaking cute omg and it's so orange
I’m so happy I came across this video! I actually just ordered this cage before watching this video and I was a bit nervous to see if it was a good cage because I’m a first time hamster and I’m glad to see I’ve made the right choice! Also you’re videos are sooo helpful thanks!
Great cage! 😃 the bigger the better
I actually have 8 hamsters. All in separate cages of course!
Wow thats amazing! I have 1 hamster only haha
8 wow 😳 good job for being so responsible to be able to take care of 8 hamsters all with big cages i hope!
awh thx guys! lol
I...I... I WANT 8 HAMSTERS
I've had this cage for 7 months and I absolutely love it. I particularly like that it has such tight bar spacing, it houses one of my robo dwarf hamsters and I never have to worry about him escaping or getting stuck.
I have this same exact cage and my hamster loves it he loves to climb and he just has a great time happy you got it on sale I paid full price. Haha.
I just bought this cage 4 months ago and I was hoping someone would make a review. You read my mind. Thanks
Great unboxing and setup video. I just bought the exact same cage (as a second cage / play cage) and you have given me lots of great ideas!
Anushka Sehgal same
Giulia D'Amico *pests*
record time misread. My fault, sorry 🙈
wait what you can't have pet "pests" in Australia? So I'm guessing no mice or rats either? What about rabbits?
Emily Hamilton well no only hamsters are considered as pests I am as quite as confused 😐 as well on that matter but rabbits and mice r definitely allowed hope this helped u answer u question 😊
love how you named her Ms Frizzle. Reminds me of the old Magic School Bus show
Where I live that is the *bare minimum* for dwarfs 😂
You must live in Dubai
@@ligglet147 no I don't 😂 I live in Europe
Johanna Vormoor I live in Europe too, and that is not the minimum for dwarfs! In Europe the minimum for dwarfs is much much tinier
@@ilonavalkama1029 Europe is a large area, in Germany it is the bare minimum
I live in europe too and cages that are similar to that one just a little bigger are used a lot sadly
Watching your videos, even if it points out more of the pet peeves of owning hamsters, makes me want a couple hamsters. I love taking care of animals. And I love how you also point out problems and things you need to avoid if you want to care for hamsters.
I just bought the exact same cage for a Syrian hamster I'm going to be getting I actually just got it today.
My new baby Syrian is in a 390 square inch bin cage but I’m getting a prevue 528 aswell!!!! I’m so excited for him
IM SO EXCITED I GOT THIS CAGE FOR CHRISTMAS AND IM GONNA GET A HAMSTER TOMORROW!!!!!! Yayyy
Edit: I GOT A SUPER DUPER CUTE WHITE LONG HAIRED SYRIAN❤️❤️❤️❤️he’s sooo cute I love him 🥰🥰
LUCKYYY
Awh I hope your hamster enjoys this suitable cage!! :3
why you so lucky?
Congrats!
How's your hamster doing? :)
I like the idea of using a climb down bowl for the sand bath…it makes it more challenging and she can really play around in the sand. Thanks for the idea!
I have this cage on my amazon wish list just waiting to be ordered lol and also the ikea detolf is something I would love to treat a hamster to 😍
So excited that I found your channel and all the other helpful hamster channels!
"Screwing, yay! *close up* So much fun!"
Oh no, my sides are hurting XD
I have this cage for my winter white dwarf hamster and it is perfect for him. The bar spacing is plenty small enough and he loves to climb the bars and use the ramp. So if you want this cage and a dwarf hamster you have nothing to worry about. This cage is great for all types of hamsters INCLUDING dwarfs.
Thanks was looking for this feedback
thanks so much for this video!! at last, a suitable cage for my future pet. :D
I'm fairly new to hamster care so it's a BIG relief to have her like the cage I got for my hamster (who's a white teddy bear)
Aw that looks a bit like the Alaska cage just different colour and platform
That's what I thought!!
i was just thinking that! i have the alaska, my hammy theo loves it :)
We just got our male long hair teddy bear hamster today! We got that same cage and wheel. I think Richie is loving his new home!
Im thinking on getting this cage for my first hamster it seems simple to put together, i got a good amount of room for it, i have the money for it. It looks nice
Mika Kabe me to!
Your cage is so wonderful - stuffed full of toys and plenty of space
Im getting that cage and im going to get my first sryian:) sadly my dwarf hamster passed away after 2 years:(
I really respect that you care for these little dudes 💚 great channel
I love your hair girl!
I’ve already noticed how much more lively he is than my Syrian, although my Syrian runs for hours a night, my robo more runs around and explores, and will come out during the day too
HAHAH go to 17:50 and watch Mrs. Firzzle 😂 “wheeeee”
I was just about to buy this cage lol. I’m glad it’s Munchie approved! ❤️
I might be rescuing a gray Syrian today bc he is living in a bird cage without bedding food or water soooo I'm crossing my fingers my parents let me
I'm rooting for ya! POOR HAMMY
Did you rescue the hamster? And how's he doing if you did rescue him?
Did you rescue him
Did you rescue him?
Did you rescue him?
This is what I use for my 3 hams. They LOVE IT.
It's a ideal option if you want to buy appropriate sand right out of a bag.)
In fact, most sand that's safe for hamsters is reptile sand or aquarium sand. Just make sure it isnt calcium sand because it is dangerous to hamsters. Chinchilla dust and the Tiny Friends Farm sand is also bad for your hammy, both can cause respiratory issues
You can also buy a bag of play sand, but be aware that you have to sanitize it first before using it by baking it.
Just saying. A kritter trail or kaytee cage would be great for moving purposes only. Like a trip to the vet. :)
Great cage that hamster is living a awsome life.
im getting this for christmas! i cannot wait :D but i have to choose if my hamster Pippy should get an 116 qt bin, or this. and the other cage will go to my group of 4 mice. Because half of them love climbing and the others dont care that much. and Pippy likes to climb too! idk :(
I think this cage is better that a 116 at bin I'm not sure but I think compared this cage is bigger even without including the ramp
@@bewarepetloverhere8819 no I just meant who should get the prevue and who get a the bin. But thank you❤
I think each three month you should switch there cage environment.
I just received a dwarf last night and once I get paid I will be immediately upgrading his home to one of these
Mouse armor...
Going to battle ahhhhhhh 😂
My bhamster went from a critter trail then i realized it wasn’t suitable so I put him in the 10 gallon tank that I had and order this cage.My hamster loves going on the ramp and made tunnels around the whole cage. He is so happy!
This of topic buTT
I like your bed sheet
As soon as I saw this I ordered this cage off amazon for my hamster that I will be getting really soon.
I'm from Syria ❤️
I got this as well on amazon while on sale. Hammy still started biting until I added a lot more toys and accessories and she's bites a lot less....like not much at all. Highly recommend this cage as well as adding accessories
Do you think a mouse will be able to squeeze through?
Hmm good question. I wouldn't know how well they can get out. The bars are pretty small but if you did happen to get this cage, you could always put mesh over the wires. Amazon also as a pretty good return policy too if it doesn't work out.
Munchie's Place cool! Sucks it costs 10000 to ship to where I am 😭😭😭
EDIT ... its $141 to ship from amazon.ca, free shipping , but amazon.com ships to Canada for a small loan of a million dollars
Nooby Cuber an adult mouse MIGHT ok, maybe try to let them have playtime in it and watch if they can leave and maybe try keeping the cage in a closed small area, if they can however, just cover it with mesh
Short CakesYT thanks. Too expensive for me, but good idea to have playtime!
It really says something when the small shelf in the cage looks to be the same floor space as a normal hamster cage
Love your channel 😋
Since you were saying you didn't know if dwarves would like this cage, I thought I would mention that my Robo lives in the 528 and he loves it. He even uses the platform and some hanging chews and toys
Nice cage, it's a shame she started bar chewing. I like the mouse armour idea - CHARGE!! 🐭🐭 ⚔ 🐭🐭
I Love small animal cages !! From Baby Shannon love you always forever!
Who laughed when she said screwing is so much fun is it just me
Wow thanks a lot for showing us this cage!
