  • I visited Black Mesa State Park Oklahoma and several other places around the panhandle of Oklahoma in Cimarron County. We visited the state park, OK-CO-NM Tripoint, and the Santa Fe Trail ruts.
This trip was in October of 202 and during the new moon so we could get as much of the giant bright sky as possible. This state park is known for its stargazing and lots of people were there that weekend trying to get photos and telescope shots.
I'd highly recommend making it to the panhandle of Oklahoma because there is so much to offer and it's a unique place with some pretty awesome views and activities.
You can read more about the trip and see some pictures from the park at: campingandtrekking.com/black-...
If you've visited, please comment and tell me what you like about the area or if you discovered something cool I missed!

Thank you for sharing! Can you tell us the name of the town facade you flew the drone over, or a description of where it is? We are planning a trip soon and would like to visit.

It's located at 36.937508, -102.962846 and it's a fake town front. I have no idea where it came from or why it's there. I tried to find stuff but couldn't a few years back. Maybe I'll try again soon.

@@CampingandTrekking the pastor at a recent funeral brought it up. Apparently "some Hollywood type" showed up and built it and was then run out of town. Expected to be much older/worn down. I wanted to ask more, but obviously it wasn't the time.

Interesting. When I looked around a few years ago I saw nothing on the internet.

It's at 36.786588, -102.805061. You can really see the ruts on google earth! There's a small monument there too to commemorate the settlers.
