Last night, I checked when the last time I bought props was. I bought $40 worth of HQ 6040 props on October 7th. So it's been, like, two weeks. Now granted, I was doing air gate practice and broke a ton of props in a short time, but still... I just can't spend $80 a month on props. Who could?! Maybe I am going to re-think my philosophy about using these as daily flyers.
Now a year later, have you put the big boy pants on and run 4S on these props? With BG coupons/points I get these for 22 cents and they are by far the best bang for buck and most efficient prop on my $9 rcx 2206-2250 motors on my Raptor 6"
This video gave me the inspiration to try the 5040 version, should be close to the same performance as my 5040 Gemfan that I've been using. Hopefully it's going to cut my cost per prop in 1/2 for the same flight performance. I'll report back my findings when I fly them.
:) just got some 5040 kingkong's in and im very happy with them . put them on my 2633kv motors expecting them to snap mid flight but they held then i put them on my 2206's and they still gave me heaps of thrust to carry a hd cam + 1800mah 4s hopping over trees for 5 minutes!! . with 4 kids i need to save coin were i can so i may end up buying alot more of these but in 6040 and i'll cut down if i need them as the 5040s are heaps smaller then expected and would have more thrust if the cord was wider like these 6040s
Good review mate! Still waiting for 4 boxes to come, but already using a set a friend of mine gave me: excellent props! :D I use them con RCX H2206-2250KV @4S (nanotech 1800mAh 65-130C)
+Bryan C. Hernandez How do they perform on 4S? I am thinking of buying a set of that exact motor, to replace my Sunnyskies. They're supposed to be pretty durable, and way cheaper to replace even if not.
+Joshua Bardwell they perform extremely well! My favourite props until I find something better =P Those motors are awesome and perfectly balanced, took a lot of crashes and still fly like they were new! Freaking cheap for such quality! The motors handle without problems even the HQ 6x4.5", after an entire LiPo of aggressive flying they come down barely warm :0
King kong props are sweet. I run them on my race rig with 2205 2000kv motors on 4s. They are super tough, well balanced and last all weekend with the same set. My fastest lap to date is with king kongs.
+Big T I think that on 4S, the relative reduction in power compared to HQ might be more tolerable. On 3S, I really need all the power I can get. Honestly, this may be the most compelling reason yet to switch to 4S. The money spent on 4S batteries might quickly be recouped in cheaper props!
nice review, I seem to be going up in size I have tried 5", 3", 1.9/2", 4" prefer this size at the moment, but whish to try 6" build with a set of gts2305 2450kv motors originally for a 5" build but want to try something different and use the KK 6040 props....
+Nick Walters If pure speed is your goal, you should go faster on 5040 than 6040, because pitch is the same, but rpm will be higher on 5" than 6", all else being equal. 5" will also probably handle better in terms of agility, but 5" will have less thrust. In theory, 6" should accelerate faster because it has more thrust, but 6" is slower to spin up (again, all else being equal) and 5" may allow you to get out of a corner sooner due to better maneuverability. For raw speed, some pilots prefer 6", but you have to pair it with pretty beefy motors like maybe 2207 in order to get the rpms up to the point where it beats 5". So you could say that 6" has a higher potential top end, but given the 2204 and 2205 motors most people today are running, 5" probably is going to be faster. If you can fly faster on a Phantom with 8" props than a mini quad with 5 or 6" props, something is wrong with your mini quad. Phantoms typically top out around 30 mph. Mini quads should easily do 45 mph even on 3S, and it's not uncommon to see 4S setups running around 60 mph or faster.
+Joshua Bardwell thanks 4 the info mate it me mate not wording things wright my phantom flys faster better on 9inch props just waiting pn bangood to send my props so i can try
They are 100% identical to DAL props I have both and both brands and they must be coming from Identical molds. Other than the prop direction and the embossed names of course
+DJB HSI well, I respectfully disagree. The DAL props are stiffer and thicker and tend to bend/break at the hub. The KK props are thinner, lighter, and tend to break in the middle. When running DAL 2-blade props, I am significantly more likely to bend a motor shaft. I have never bent a motor shaft running KK.
+Joshua Bardwell I don't know what version you got but I have scanned both props I have here on our 3d scanner and they are identical in shape and size. I just checked the weight now that you mentioned that, and they are also same 3.2g. As with all china made stuff quality control is never #1. Molding temps, the % of regrind material and resin batches can vary big time. The props I have perform identical as the Dals as far as I can tell so far.
+DJB HSI Well, I look forward to the results, but even if yours are identical to each other, the ones that I had are definitely, without question, not the same material. When pressed together at the tip, the KK flexed more than the DAL, and the DAL was about 1 gram heavier than the KK. I'm sorry I don't have any more of the DAL around to verify this for you though.
+Joshua Bardwell Don't know. All their products are gone. Props, ESCs, motors, kits - everything! And HobbyKing does not have a full range of KK products.
Flying 3s!... You've definitely come a long way and you deserve it JB hope you and the family are doing well.
Thanks for the detailed review man. Feeling way better about making an order
+Dukkhan Don't hesitate. The KK5040 and 6040 at least are very good. I haven't personally flown the others, but I hear good things.

Looking forward to doing some actual thrust numbers for these and the 6040 in both 3S and 4S.

What motors are you using with them?
Sunnysky 2204 2300kv
hi mate iam running 3s with 5040 jemfan will thay be better
Hard to say. 6" will make more thrust than 5", all else being equal. But it will handle differently.
What like fast flying i seen it better on my phantom with std 8inch to 9inch props
+Joshua Bardwell sorry mine were 5045 bullnose gemfan

DJB HSI If you're checking the 6" props, that may be the difference. I was checking 5" props.
+Joshua Bardwell I'll scan the 5" ones and report back tomorrow. They do look identical also.

You liked King Kong props back then... hehehehhehe 🤭
Banggood does not carry Kingkong props anymore...
+vadimus2007 I see that they're gone! What happened!!!

Well, that's a real shame if so. These were the best props I have flown.
Just talked to BG customer support.
It isn't a divorce, it is a system glitch. I was told it will be back in few days.
Whew!
