Also 15-16 years ago people did wonder what the heck Kate was doing with her life because waiting around for a guy to (hopefully) propose does look a tad desperate. I have nothing against Kate but her and I are the exact same age and I remember those years and the headlines well. After she finished University she floundered big time and couldn't make up her mind what she wanted to do professionally. Optics wise it wasn't a good look as her indecisiveness made her look spoiled and entitled and she was called out for it in the press. Everything she did do, especially the charity fundraisers, seemed designed solely for Williams benefit, a ploy if you will to show him that she was more than up to the task of joining his family circus. It was her life's ambition and mission to marry William and in the years leading up to their engagement everyone (the press, British nobility and us commoners alike) knew she was piddling around doing nothing of any real consequence, waiting for William to finally "put a ring on it". Thank God he finally did too or she'd probably still be wandering around shiftless and aimless waiting for that damn engagement ring. 😏

None of these things requires many skills and much experience. Think about this, ladies in Queen Elizabeth's youth were expected to get married not have careers. The only reason most worked during the late 30's and early to mid 40's worked was because they had to fill in for the men who were fighting in world war II. Usually future employers gauge the job candidate's success/performance on next role based on the person's success/performance on previous role. It was Waity Katie *not* Katie Waity. Also 15-16 years ago people did wonder what the heck Kate was doing with her life because waiting around for a guy to (hopefully) propose does look a tad desperate. I have nothing against Kate but her and I are the exact same age and I remember those years and the headlines well. After she finished University she floundered big time and couldn't make up her mind what she wanted to do professionally. Optics wise it wasn't a good look as her indecisiveness made her look spoiled and entitled and she was called out for it in the press. Everything she did do, especially the charity fundraisers, seemed designed solely for Williams benefit, a ploy if you will to show him that she was more than up to the task of joining his family circus. I think it's reasonable for the Queen to have felt that way. Usually future employers gauge the job candidate's success/performance on next role based on the person's success/performance on previous role. It's good that everything turned out well and Princess Catherine is an important member of the British Royal Family.

The Queen never said this. Catherine did a lot of work before joining the royals. She managed her parents business for a long time, she worked as a buyer for Jigsaw, a deckhand at the port of Southampton, and also worked in catalogue design and production, marketing and photography. That doesnt include all the charity work she was doing aswell long before her engagement to William. She organised an 80s themed roller disco to raise money for Place2B, and raiser 100,000 pounds. She also worked for the Starlight Foundation, which raises money for children with terminal cancers. She curated a photography exhibition to raise money for UNICEF. She made mutiple trips to Naomis House Hospice, where she would raise money and also take tons of gifts for the children and stay and read with them. She ton a ton of work before joining the royals, this is just the work im aware of. The difference is Catherine doesnt BRAG about it, so everybody thinks she did NOTHING, which could not be further from the truth. A lazy girl would not be able to cope with the workload the royals have, we know this from having Meghan in the family

It's refreshing to have a young and popular Princess of Wales who's not constantly asking to be pitied, and she has all the makings of a fine Queen Consort, which Diana, for all her beauty, sorely lacked. Female success doesn't succeed any higher than that. Unless of course, you're born with Elizabeth's luck: your uncle abdicates, your father dies young, and you sit on the throne for a solid 70 years! But yeah, after Elizabeth, Katie is the royal family's biggest success story.
Edit: Diana was young and naive and beautiful and kind and all that, but she was far too emotionally unstable to succeed in public life. Plus, she was fairly narcissistic. She probably imagined herself as Queen Regina and not Queen Consort.

Catherine had an education. I think she met William at the right time. If she would've had a full-time career, it may have been difficult for her to leave it behind. Also, it gave her the opportunity to learn about the ins & outs of the Royal Family.
