Another band Stapleton was with before going solo was The Jompson Brothers. Very good group but lean more towards rock n roll. Stapleton can do anything and makes it better. Brings so much soul through his singing.
Adele bus driver was listening to the Steeldrivers she became a fan and recorded this song. Chris and Mike Henderson founded the Steeldrivers in 2007 to showcase all the songs they had written together. Chris left in 2010, Mike in 2011 but they continued to write together Broken Halos won a Grammy, Starting Over CMA song of the year. Mike died suddenly a couple of weeks ago
@ThisandThatJC Chris was w/them & left to go solo! Please react to “Fool Me Again” it’s from wayyy before he became famous. He was very you. It’s when she first sang with a different group. There’s a LIVE version on TH-cam! It’s amazing!! Chris wrote the song as always! Also please react to “The Devil Always Made Me Think Twice” live performance on I think Stephen Colbert show. His wife Morgane sing harmonies w/him! Btw there’s a better live version on TH-cam of “If It Hadn’t Been For Love” when Chris is more the Chris we know & love! Great reaction. Chris is a living Legend. Not really‘Country’ but more soul, blues,R&B,lil rock, Outlaw Country all in 1!! He’s in his own genre!! Thanks friends!
Blue grass for sure! Chris has collaborated with many different artists and he Never seems to try and outshine anyone else... He Can!! But he tries not to. Adele was in a tour bus when this song came on the radio, she said "who is this?" Then later covered the song herself!
Loved the fiddle solo in this. But I kept flinching, because I thought she was gonna poke poor Chris in the eye with that bow. As Jim said, this song was from years ago, but I also noticed that Chris was wearing the same hat he still wears today. Some things are simply too good to change.
I would agree with Jim about Chris blending in and not outshining the rest of the group. I have never seen him in a performance where he tries to outshine any artist he is singing with.
I realize you like to hear artists you are not familiar with...I'll take a stab and say Jimmy Wayne may fall into that category...please check out "I LOVE YOU THIS MUCH" pretty good song you may enjoy.
He was with them for years. Class A bluegrass band - all super talented musicians.
