My late husband's name was Danny. When I first arrive Oregon, he used to sing the song Danny Boy, with misty eyes remembering the years when he was still a soldier.
My grandfather was straight off the boat from Ireland with his brother and he must have sang this to my Mom I, I don't know but she has always made me promise to sing this at her funeral or kind of jokingly to not come but I know that she wants me to come anyway but that's how much she loves her daddy and how much she appreciates that song with her last rights. It makes me sad because she is now 86. But at that she is so healthy and outgoing she's going to outlive me and that's wonderful amen
When I am missing my Irish grandmother, I listen to Danny boy. She had the softest most melodic and beautiful voice as she saying that song to me and other Irish ballads, but there was always something special about the way she sang Danny boy! Thank you for your beautiful rendering! 💚
I just watched the new version of All Quiet on the Western Front and... Holy shit... This song tipped me over the edge and cried for half an hour straight. I highly recommend the movie, beautiful song with a good meaning. War isnt hell. It's worse. God bless you all...
My dad died of cancer at only 33 back in 1963, I was 7 then. My brother's name was Dan but Danny to me. My mom used to sing me this song and I would cry uncontrollably feeling all my emotions. I wonder why she would sing such a sad song. They are all gone now and I am here in this awful world. God Bless us all
I am so very sorry for all the loss you experienced. I hope you can share your love with friends or pets. I find great comfort with my black Lab "Murphy boy!" Yes, this world can be very hard, but if you look a little there are wondrous things as well. God Bless you!
💔 My grandad passed away yesterday 26 of July 2019 And this song is getting played at his funeral 😪 Rest in peace your in no pain anymore he was Irish and proud👼❤️
Never heard of it until my nans funeral I wasn’t there but I walked home from school on the day of her funeral and played it all the way, always wandered why she liked it then I went on ancestors and found out her dad was born near Galway❤️
I know this song cuz i learned it in the choir at school and it was my fav song out of the 12 songs....I sing this song the most when i practice....Anyone in 2019?
I'm 14 years old I lost my nan when I was 4 years old and I don't really remember much about her but I know that she was my world and my confidence and that this is her favourite song and she use to sing it all the time and she had a beautiful voice
i love danneil o'donnell, but this song brings tears everytime i hear it,it goes straight to your heart , i can;t help but cry every time i hear, thank you . this is the best version i've heard
Pat Tudor Yes. If this song does not bring a tear to your eyes than something is very wrong. It's the most poignant and touching song I have ever heard.
This song legend has it was written by the little people and the musical melody stands aline in the field of music. It is a melody nobody knows who or exactly where it came from. Fact check this
I love this song so much, it's very beautiful. I'm addicted to Joe Dolan's version, but also because I'm a Joe Dolan fan:) Thank you for posting, dear Glenn! Have a beautiful day!:)
❤️ It makes no sense that this lovely version has received a lot less views verses the real cruddy mechanical sounding version that I just heard moments ago with only a Soso voice. Has anyone else noticed or is it just me but large portions of this Danny boy song is the same melody parts in Josh Groban’s song, ( you lift me up. )
* Beautiful song Glenn! Very touching lyrics, really emotional when one thinks about them. I agree with you about this Daniel O'Donnell version being one of the best too! Nah I think she hates you. She doesn't want you at her funeral. She's serious. I even asked her as she was blowing me yesterday.
