I’ve had my 335d touring for 6 months now and couldn’t be happier with it, does everything with ease and I’m getting 36 mpg with very little motorway use.
Its a great B road overtake car! 4 cars? Only have 100ft clear road on the other side. No problem. There is a problem, end up doing 90mph after the overtakes lol.
I got a 335d 2015 3 years ago from a BMW dealer, with 25k on the clock for under £20k, which I've just traded in for a newer 335d.... First time I've ever gone for the same car on trade in as it ticks all my boxes. It's not the fastest car I've owned, nor the most comfortable or best looking... But as an all rounder it's the best car I've ever driven and does 0-60 just 0.2 seconds slower than the 5 litre supercharged v8 XKR I had before it....which is crazy as it's a diesel!
Thanks for this review, bought my 335d f31 at the weekend based on past experience owning a 330d e92 and a few little reviews like these and have to say im over the bloody moon with it. 19 plate with only 25k on it as well 😃👍 cheers pal.
Hey buddy, how much did you pay if you don't mind me asking. I'm picking a 2017 335d next weekend for £24k 31k mileage, feels as if I'm paying a bit too much
Excellent motors. My parents had one from new but traded it for a merc last year, and when I had a go in it I thought it was a brilliant car. As my mum was the main driver she didn't drive it fast at all, and could rech over 60mpg combined mileage which is also insane. I used to have a 2009 model though not xdrive and could easily get 45mpg+ with mixed driving. Just great all round family cars.
My Grandad has a 435d and im seriously impressed with how refined the engine is, its actually very quiet the MPG is very impressive and Ive no doubt it could get into the 60s if you really tried, impressive for a 3.0 twin turbo diesel with xDrive with the 4 series being quite a big car as well. Personally its a no brainer over the 20d if you can afford the extra cost.
I've a 535d remapped to 370hp and gearbox remap as well. I've only been overtaken once on the road at that was an M6 who was seriously going for it! Great, great fun. 35mpg average and I drive it as fast as conditions/road allows 😂
I’ve had mine a year. It’s got a stage 1 map plus XHP gearbox stage 2 map which makes it shift much better. Car still surprises me how quick it pulls. With the stock map in D, the car will pull away in 2nd only.
should have put the transmission into sport mode as well, completely changes the shift speed (Even in Sport/sport+) I went from a 440bhp 590nm M240i to an F30 335d like this one. 1/4 mile times are quicker with the 335d just down to the xdrive. Throw a tune on it and you'll be laughing
Map the car to around 370-380 stage 2 map on gearbox, lowering springs on and get rid of the run flats for some ps4 tyre's and it will be better than the 440i 😊
For anyone that has a long commute, the 35d engines are great as used in a daily car. I used to have an E60 535d and, even though it had very similar power (when standard) as my current diesel Jaguar, it was a much quicker car.
I know.....313bhp....53mpg....640nm....4.8 seconds in the wet. Fuck the 440i...its not worthy of being compared to this 3.0l diesel engine imo. What BMW have created is incredible and everyone who goes in my 435d are gobsmacked and terrified in equal amounts, and I probably save 60-80 pm on fuel costs.
shocked by the 5 mpg if I can get that on my 20 mile commute each way on the Motorway I am a very very very happy man. this would be a sick upgrade from my A3 sline 2.0 tdi for sure!
My 435d GC has electric seats which I thought was great until you realise you only ever set them once and forget you got them. Spend the money on another option imo. 😄
imo as we live in the UK the 335d is better than the 440i in every way for day to day driving, my 335d is mapped to 400BHP and 760NM and believe me you need a fast car to keep up!
@@shazjawaid7353 Yes all fine, I have sold the 335d and now have a 640d GC and it’s running the same power with no issues, believe me the car is very quick…one thing I would say it a breathing mod is preferred!

My 14 plate 435d is staring to show its age now at 110k. Numerous creaks and rattles abound. Eibach springs sort these right out , especially if you have the woeful adaptive suspension. I won’t be mapping mine, plenty fast enough to get in trouble in, and mine burns oil as it is - as much as my Hondas used to! I can’t think of anything to replace it with so I’m hanging on to mine. New BMWs just don’t appeal to me. As for economy - I think if you do a commute to and from an office twice a day or lots of motorway miles - you might see 35-40mpg. Mine regularly returns 30mpg average mixed (and sometimes enthusiastic) driving. Disagree re the turn in - I’d say x-drive actually offers superior turn in once you learn how to drive to its abilities - initial turn in is slightly more vague, but the front bites soon enough and you can get on the power way earlier in the 4wd cars. Getting in the 4wd car after rwd is quite odd - different driving style required but agreed rwd more playful.
